Our furnace went out in the dead of winter in January. We were required to use Climate King by our home warranty. Once the order was in the work was done quickly. Unfortunately, the installers left us with a gas leak that ran our monthly bill up to $300 for January. We didn't find out about the leak until two weeks later when questioning the bill and the gas company showed up to assess. After CK fixed the leak, we tried to get CK to reimburse us for the high bill and they ghosted us. Pretty poor customer service to ignore us. read more

First, this review has a lot more to do with American Home Sheild but there is feedback also about Climate King's handling of our situation . I felt compelled to write this review to help others. No system or company is perfect. Professionals make mistakes. Now, Im the caregiver for my 87 year old dad who has dementia. I take turns with my sister staying at his home for a week at a time. He lives in a rural area and my sister and I both work full time and use caregivers during the day. My dad's AC went out two weeks ago. He has a very old Carrier system. I called American Home Shield which he's had a policy for 2 years. I paid the $125 service fee plus of course the monthly amount. They identified Climate King. I called and they schedujed me for a week out. I asked if they had anything sooner due my father's condition. Moreover, the caregivers would be uncomfortable. Mine you, there were heat advisories. So, we braved it out and Climate King sent Justin Wilson. I was at work and asked him to call me upon arrival. Hecdid and said the system was operating as it should and he checked everything including the fan, motor, compressor, fuse box, etc. He assured me everything was ok. I told him the system was inconsistent in that it would get very cold and then not cool after a day. He said it must be the thermostat so he put in a new one. I told him my dad's 97 year old sister was going to be coming in from Memphis and that I needed to be sure it would be cool. He said it would. I said if not, can I call you. He said I'd have to call American Home Sheid to get a recall. That night when I arrived home, it was 91 degrees in the house. I called American Home Shield and they issued a recall to Clumate King. Climate King said they could not come until the fliwing week because they were only in the area once a week. I explained to the young lady that I could not wait that long. I called American Home Shield back to ask if I could use a vendor that I know could come. They said I had to wait 4 hours and if they could find someone, I would have to get pre authorizaction to use a vendor not in their list. They found someone who could come in 48 hours. Still unacceptable. I ended up calling Russell Refigeration in Clinton. They sent someone out same day and the tech found the problem immediately. The motor in the fan was weak and the unit was very hot. He said we didn't need a new thermostat. We needed a motor for the fan. Due to my fathers situation and we had already spent $125 they only charged me for labor and parts. Not a service fee. I'm sitting in a 72 degree cool home. I'm canceling American Home Shield. I'm disappointed in Climate King. Justin was professional and thorough. He missed the fan issue and since the AC still didn't work, I thought they should have worked something out to come back sooner. I understand why some reputable companies do not sign on with American Home Shield. Russell is now our choice. We worked out a maintenance plan with them and considering upgrading our system. They are giving us an estimate. The tech they sent was very knowledge and experienced. He knew what was going on right away and didn't leave until he felt the air cooling after instling the motor. Lessons learned- read reviews on the home warranty company and the vendor. They both had very negative reviews. I missed that you can't select your own vendor but I see why. I actually have Climate King a good review roght after Justin left and I received the link fthe review. Lesson learned again-- wait until it works and if they are willing to come back sooner and make it right. We are in MS in the worst heat. Where is the compassion and empathy for our elderly. I was willing to spend more money out of my pocket to take care of my dad and his caregivers. Thanks to Russell Refrigeration in Clinton I could. Horrible service. They have been to my home 7 times this year alone. Technician comes out for all of 15 minutes just to have them come out the next week for the exact reason. We're in 100+ degree weather and sitting in a hot nome with my family is uncalled for!!! My light bill is steadily rising and it's from their incompetence. They don't return calls, gives an appointment time with a 12 hour window, like people can just take off work. They need some experienced technicians and definitely need better customer service! I'm assuming the people with home warranties are second class??? I'm highly disappointed and contemplating on going to BBB. Update: no update from Climate King, not even a courtesy call.... Absolutely NOTHING!!! had to go to another company, and was told that our A/C was improperly diagnosed. Climate King didn't even take time to diagnose it properly. Just patching the issue!!! We paid $150 for it to supposedly be cleaned, plus the deductible the warranty company applies. It's just been a nightmare. We have been without A/C through this heatwave. The other company (our saving grace) has been adding 2-3lbs of freon every day just to keep my family comfortable during this heatwave until our new units are installed this Tuesday. A little kindness and compassion goes a long way. I scheduled an appointment through my home warranty for a tune up of my A/C and during the appointment the technician literally blew up my thermostat. There was a loud electrical pop and smoke. The technician took no accountability for blowing up the thermostat. Like that's normal. He could have started an electrical fire and then what would I have had to do? I've been in my home 10 years and not 1 time has my thermostat blown up from having an A/C tune up. The only reason I used my home warranty this time is because my normal A/C person has now retired. But I called him and told him what occurred and he said that was not supposed to happen. The unit should have been shut off. But I understand mistakes happen. It's the no taking accountability for me that behooves me. Not even a simple I'm sorry this happened. We will get it fixed right away. No accountability and no acknowledgment. Then on top of that, the technician began to replace my thermostat and I asked what are you doing. He replied replacing the thermostat. He blew up a Honeywell Home 7 Day Wifi Smart Programmable thermostat but he was going to replace my thermostat with just a digital one thinking that I didn't know any better. Because his reply was oh, you want a Honeywell Home. I want exactly what I had before y'all tore it up. So insulting my intelligence is a whole other level of disrespect. Like I don't know what kind of appliances that I have purchased for my own house. It's the audacity for me. In addition to that, I am inconvenienced in the worst way because they couldn't install the other smart thermostat that I had because the Honeywell Home had to be ordered. So they put this digital thermostat up until the Honeywell comes in. Here is how I'm inconvenienced. Let's start with Entergy. I automatically receive an email from Entergy saying they have lost access to my Honeywell TCC thermostat. I'm enrolled in the Smart Thermostat Program and that allows me to get credits to my bill. In addition to that because I have a 7 day programmable smart wifi thermostat, my thermostat changes to certain settings on its own depending on the time of day and whether I'm at home or not. Therefore, this mishap that nobody has taken accountability for is going to cost me money on my Entergy bill because I'm not enrolled in the program due to their negligence of blowing up my thermostat and due to their lack of knowledge and skill of installing the smart thermostat that I already had that would have kept me enrolled in the program until I got the HoneyWell Home Thermostat. Also, I haven't been given a date of when the new thermostat will be in. I feel bamboozled as a customer because I paid for a service and received poor customer service plus my thermostat being torn up through no fault of my own with the company that did it taking no accountability or even acknowledging that it shouldn't have happened. Climate King should pay my service fee to my home warranty company. That's the least they can do. Because they were willing to leave me in a house with no working air conditioning because a thermostat had to be ordered. And that wasn't an option because the air conditioning was working before they got there. I had to suggest installing a temporary thermostat. Me, the customer had to suggest. Climate King can never do anymore work at my residence for anything for any reason and I'm going to make sure that my home warranty has that notated in my file. read more

Climate King Failed to properly diagnose my heating furnace unit but instead vandalized my property when he went in my attic throwing or banging making loud noise in my attic on 12/21/2020. Climate King did not get the job right the first time in replacing my Thermostat at my property on the first visit. He was seeking more money and informed AHS that I need to pay $125.00. Furthermore, The Technician informed me to go to LOWES and pay $100. For the Thermostat and then call him and I can pay him $100.00 to install the thermostat. Climate King did not meet my basic need for adequate heat in my home when it was cold. American Home Shield sent this contractor to my property. I was without adequate heat for 7-10 days during the winter. Do not recommend Climate King or American Home Shield for using this contractor. read more

Had to get one of our central heat units serviced right after moving in a new home and right before the ice storm of '21. They quickly diagnosed the issue with a relay and fixed it. This was a home warranty claim. read more

Waited 4 days for an appointment. Tech never showed saying no one at home. Tech never showed or called.

This is the worst company that you could call for service if you have a problem with your air in Mississippi in June. When they were dispatched on a Wednesday evening, they offered me an appointment the next Tuesday. Thank goodness someone else cancelled and they could get to me Friday between 8am-2pm. My mom went to meet them at my house so I didn't have to take off work. Their tech, Chris, showed up only to lie to my mother and leave after telling her he fixed the problem and it would cool off soon. When I got home at 4:30pm, it was 92 degrees in my house and the unit is still blowing hot air. Thank goodness I sent my dogs to my mom's house because they would have been near dying of heat stroke again because of someone else's incompetence. Of course, with it being a Friday, their phones are already transferred to an answering service at 4:45pm and I'm advised they have no way of contacting anyone at the company. I'm not stupid and know that's a lie. I'm assured they will get them a message though and I'll hear from someone within 24 hours...even if it's an emergency. Wow. I don't need them to come back to my house or to call me to offer me another appointment 5-6 days later. They can give me a refund and I will call someone that actually cares about doing a job they're paid to do. Learn how to do what you're paid to do and keep customers. read more

Climate King is a contractor with American Home Shield, my home warranty insurance. It has been since 05/14/18, since I've been dealing with both with no completion. The 1st visit the technician came and after maybe 15 minutes with the unit came inside and held his hand up to the vent, no instrument or tool in hand and said that it's blowing 60° air although the thermostat had not dropped a degree. When I told him I would stay at the house for an hour and will call him back out he stated that he would submit the paperwork to American Home Shield that the unit is not cooling properly. A week goes by, I call Climate King.... Ahh, he hasn't submitted the paperwork but I'll get him to do it right away. Another week goes by and I contact American Home Shield.... Ahh, the contractor stated that he fixed your unit. He will have to come back out to do a recall. After contacting Climate King and asking for another technician to come out because the 1st one's integrity is questionable, the young lady that answered the phone assured me that the technician's supervisor would come out for the recall. Who do I see when I open my door???? the original technician that I requested not to come back to my home. That right there showes that they didn't respect me as a customer. He now is blaming American Home Shield. Nevertheless, he stated AGAIN that he would submit necessary papers for my unit to be replaced. At this time it was running but not cooling.. Would get to 78° but not cold but I could tolerate. Weeks and weeks go by with me following up each week and being told by American Home Shield that Climate King has not sent in their diagnosis. At this point, I'm furious with both... American Home Shield for allowing a contractor to work for them this way and with Climate King for taking my $125 service fee and not provide the service. I then speak with the one of the owners of who assured me that the diagnosis will be submitted and she would call me back-never received the phone call. My unit has gone completely out and my house is 94° in the afternoon and 89-91° at night. I have had to throw away food and other items due to heat. I posted a similar review on Google Saturday, 07/01/18, and within a few minutes of the post I get a phone call from Holly with Climate King stating that she just saw my post on Google and apologized for not notifying me that the equipment has been ordered.
