Best Jamaican restaurant in Miami. I come here all the time for lunch and the food is great everytime.

The food here was very good. Its a small spot, so I wanted to give them a chance. I wasn't disappointed. Plenty of food and didn't stiff me on the meat like some places by giving a lot of rice. Parking wasn't that great, but I will be back. read more

Having worked with a Jamaican, we were always on the search for good Jamaican curry in Miami. Having randomly located this place on Urbanspoon one day I decided to order some takeout. This place is definitely in a shadier side of town, and with much trepidation I parked my car on the side of the road and went inside. The restaurant was not very big, but pretty full inside. It was relatively early (7:00 PM), and you could tell that it was just starting to get full for a crazy night. We ordered the curried goat and the jerk chicken. The goat was spectacular - fall off the bone tender and deliciously spiced. The jerk chicken was equally as amazing although it was a bit on the very spicy side which I enjoy but others may not. Both came with rice and peas and a side. Perhaps the most incredible thing was the price. Both entrees were well under $10 each!! Great food at a great price...SCORE! Went here for the first time today after hearing about them over the years from my Aunt... The food was pretty good, I had the oxtail with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. They have a pretty good customer base so the food turns over often which is a very good thing because there is nothing worst than going to an eating establishment where the food is just sitting... I really enjoyed the cabbage and the fruit punch most of all they both stood out and were both very delicious. The oxtail portions were pretty small but other than that if you are in the area I would recommend you stop in... Oh and parking is very very limited. Side Note: Make sure to tell them lite gravy and it will be just the right amount... I'm a gravy lover but in my opinion they put entirely waaaay to much for you to even taste or begin to enjoy the coconut milk in the rice... Update: 02/08/2012 Oh-My-Goosh!!!! I even gave up on Tropical Oasis they were my #1, my first real true love, but now I'm only faithful and loyal to Cliffs and couldn't cheat on them even if I wanted too... Unfortunately my last visit was very subpar. The service was nice but as far as the food went, this time we went for chicken dishes. Jerk chicken came too dry and the curry chicken was too salty and with mediocre chicken. I would avoid the chicken dishes at this place for future visits and order the other things. read more

I sat down at a table for lunch this afternoon. Took about five minutes for someone to come speak to me event the room is small enough for everyone to see each other. When a waitress does show up, she asks me what I want. I have no menu, so I don't know. I suspect most of the clientele are regulars and locals. But there is a reason for that. I ordered the jerk chicken asking for an extra spicy portion. What I got was very dry smoked chicken. It wasn't awful, but it was the least tasty jerk chicken I've ever had. I've been to cookouts with better jerk chicken. Bahamas Breeze has better jerk chicken. Definitely edible, but not at all what I was asking for. The chicken was flavorless. A genuine experience of culture and food. The flavors mix is surprisingly well and nothing is too excessive, the meat is cooked to a perfect texture. The location is a bit rundown but it only adds to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Would definitely look forward to travel back to Miami and eat here once more. read more

This place is great!!! Definitely a small hole in the wall that is easy to pass when you are driving. Looks kind of shady, but is 100% good. Came here around 930pm and there was one other customer sitting watching tv. There was only one lady in the front so we sat down and waited for her to come over. Oddly enough she said she didn't have any menus (which seems like a reoccurring thing based on other reviews) so she recited the menu by memory. I got a medium jerk kitchen and my dad got a large oxtail. Both with cabbage, rice and peas (beans and rice) and plantains. Everything was delicious!!! This place is full of regulars and locals. We sat and ate for about an hour and literally about 30 customers came in and out. This place is busy!!! Almost ALL of the customers that came in, the server knew by heart and asked if they wanted their regular. Pretty good if you ask me! The only thing is that I'm not sure of the price difference (since we didn't see a menu and she didn't quote us prices) but the portion of the large didn't look any bigger than the medium. Just stick with the medium as it is still plenty of food. If I'm ever in town again I would definitely come back and bring some friends. read more

The Oxtail was good & the whole meal was fantastic it just needed to be a little more seasoned but my overall first experience was great.

My go to place for when I want my Ackee salt fish and boiled bananas outside of regular breakfast hours. They are great most days for the stew peas. Parking: horrible Food: I purchased the oxtails for about $13. It was recommended by a customer who was in the restaurant. The food was just ok. The cabbage was bland. I love the ackee and salt fish but you only get one spoon of it and a whole lot of yam and banana. The prices have went up over night almost $5 on all the meals the curry goat was $12.95 for medium $17.35 for the same little bit of meat they put on your plate and the large was $14.95 it's up to $19.35 so no I want be supporting them any longer. read more

The food and the customer service/staff is not consistent . It is a very small spot where locals go and the Parking situation is not very good I simply go here because there is not a lot of Jamaican options in Miami , all of the good ones are in Fort Lauderdale. The curry goat is good but very spicy The oxtails are good but not consistent which is disappointing . The rice and peas and plantains are good and you can always substitute . what an experience! i convinced some indecisive friends last night to live-a-little and give this place a try. i think they were all a little nervous, especially when we pulled up and saw the place. it didn't help that the crowd outside the restaurant just stared. i said hello in their general direction and led the group inside. no turning back now- the place was packed inside. this is obviously a neighborhood place. with everyone in the neighborhood eating dinner. it appeared that the lady behind the counter was the only one (aside from the guys cooking in the back) serving all these people, so we sat ourselves in one of the booths towards the back. there's a small bar/counter inside and just a few small tables and two small booths. it was a crunch fitting the 5 of us. and the place is literally a shack. it looks like it might fall over if the wind blew too hard. and no a/c! thank god it's been cool this november. i mentioned it reminded me of the restaurants on the east coast of costa rica...the building and the crowd. one of the girls i was with agreed whole heartedly. we got some red stripes, the BBQ ribs, the BBQ chicken, and the jerk chicken. the ribs were tasty. the BBQ sauce was delicious, but the ribs could've been cooked a little less, but they were still super tasty. the jerk chicken was surprisingly the most disappointing. it just wasn't terribly flavorful. it looked like it was grilled and then they put the jerk sauce on the side ?? still trying to figure that one out. and i actually think we all enjoyed the BBQ chicken the best. it was sooo tender with the same tasty marinade as the ribs. i have faith that the ribs might be the best in miami. they were almost there, just a little over done. each of us getting dinner and a couple of red stripe's worked out to be a little under $15 a person. not bad! i guess our 'type' isn't a common occurence at cliff's, considering the welcome we got and that every person who walked in would look over at us. not sure if it was cause we were little white girls or the lesbian factor. but the waitress was very sweet, as was the older gentelman who stopped me on the way out... old jamacian guy "hey, you girls not from here. where you from?" i proceeded to say we all lived close by...he interrupted me and with a chuckle said, "well, you girls all see very close and i don't mind that one bit. you come back any time you like." and turned around and left. normally, i'd get a little defensive, but he seemed genuinely humored by the situation that i just laughed and told my friends as we drove off. fyi. there are signs that say they don't take credit, but they do. and you can do take-out for 1/2 pound or pound of the BBQ. i can see myslef doing that quite often. read more

It's a total hole in a wall but if you're looking for authentic Jamaican food. This is the place to go. I might've tried everything on the menu. I love the oxtails! And the jerk chicken is authentic. Made in their back yard's grille and everything! I have not been disappointed yet. Parking is limited but there's a lot of parking on the side street about half a block away. My go to place when I'm craving Jamaican food, which is about once a week. They also have a full stocked bar. read more

Ever since my dad introduced me to Cliff's about 4 years ago, I've never ventured anywhere else to get my fix for Jamaican cuisine! The food is never a disappointment and the service is always great! I've only been there twice when the service was less than mediocre and it was from a younger black girl who was taking my order. As far as the food goes, I've ordered almost everything off the menu. I recommend getting the Brown Stew Chicken or the Curry Shrimp. These 2 dishes are my favorite. I'd say that the pricing is pretty average for a Jamaican restaurant.
