I've never posted a one star review before but my experience was so atrocious that this needed to be done. I have a mechanical keyboard that has been malfunctioning recently. The W key needs to be pressed 5 to 6 times in order to register a single press.
I asked Click Tech to replace the switch on that key but they said they couldn't do it, reccomending a cleaning instead which would likely resolve the problem.
"Sure." I thought. This should be cheap, and fast, so even if this doesn't fix it I don't stand to lose too much time or money. So I gave them the keyboard and the green light.
This was on Friday 8/20/2021.
Since it was Friday, and the shop was closed on the weekends, the man behind the counter told me that it would likely be done on the coming Monday. Additionally, if I left my phone number they would call me to let me know when it was ready. That sounded fine to me, so I went on my merry way.
Complete radio silence up until the Monday after the one when it was supposed to be done, 8/30/2021. I go out after work to run some errands and decide to give them a call to check to see if my keyboard is ready to be picked up. I get halfway through explaining who I am and what I need before being asked if the store can call me right back, as they are very busy with people in the store at that time. I say sure and go on with my errands. My call to them was placed at 5:32pm
The call back never comes and I am left to wonder still if my easy fast job has yet to be completed.
The next day, 8/31/2021, I skip the phone call and just go in, slightly annoyed but still not too upset. I ask the man behind the counter if my keyboard is ready. He says it is. I ask him if the problem with the W key is resolved and he says it is. I am overjoyed. I've been slumming it for weeks now but Click Tech managed to solve my problem. I pay my 23 dollar bill and leave.
That was a mistake. I should have made him show me it working before I left. I should have inspected the keyboard to make sure it actually was clean. Because now, as I sit here typing on my value village ancient keyboard replacement, I know that either I was lied to or the staff is incompetent because the problem is still very much there and may have even gotten worse.
To make matters even more pitiful as I actually inspect the keyboard with eyes not tinted by the rosey glow of success I can see several spots where it is STILL dirty. I ask you brave reader, who has actually read my tirade. If I paid 23 dollars for a cleaning and the product is still dirty what did I pay for?
Tldr: Sign up for a cleaning. Am told I will be called when job is done. No call. Call them to ask if its done but hung up on with promise of call back. No call back. Go in, am told issue has been resolved. Am too stupid to doubt them. Go home to find its still there and the keyboard is still dirty.
