Having read the other review on Yelp, I thought this would be a perfect place to take my wedding…read moredress for alterations. I called to make an appointment and the lady I talked with on the phone said "If you need to change, just call us the day before." I called the day before because my bustier still hadn't arrived, and she rescheduled me for two weeks later. She took my phone number and said that if something opened up the following week, she'd give me a call, but otherwise, "just show up in two weeks." This morning was that two week mark. I packed up my dress, shoes, everything and went to the alterations place. The sign on the door said "closed saturday through tuesday. for pick up please call [#]." Okay. So I called the number. Maybe she was just coming in by appointment. The woman I spoke to said, "no, I've never heard of you, you don't have an appointment." Apparently this was a different woman than the one I had talked to (it seemed like a one-person kind of place, but what do I know? I'd just talked to them on the phone). I explained that I had made an appointment and she said "well you're not in the book." I said okay, so what do we do? She said, acting really put out, "well, what do you need done to the dress? do you just need it hemmed or what?" I started trying to explain to her, but then she acted like it was all a big deal, [also, aren't they supposed to SEE you with the dress on and THEY assess what needs to be done? I'm not a fashion designer!] so I broke off and told her, "I think I'll just go elsewhere; thanks for wasting my last three weeks." I'm not taking a wedding dress to someone who couldn't be bothered to say "sorry about the mix-up, let's reschedule you" instead of acting like I am some kind of pain in her butt for showing up to an appointment I had scheduled. I am hesitant to say anything negative during this wedding planning process because they always call you a bridezilla, but I do not want anyone to deal with this utter waste of time.

Elizabeth is wonderful! Not only is she a great seamstress, but a talented designer as…read morewell--dresses, swimsuits, and much more are for sale in her shop. I've had her alter a bride's maid dress and a pair of pants, and she did a perfect job on both. She is friendly and helpful, and her rates are reasonable. Elizabeth spoke to my sewing class one night at Ventura College, and she was very inspiring. She taught herself to sew at the age of 12, and has had a very interesting life since then (she grew up in South America). Note: The door facing Loma Vista is usually locked, so use the entrance that faces the parking lot in between the 99 cent store and the CMH parking structure.
