Mirna altered my wedding dress (length & added a bustle) beautifully and quickly! She was incredibly sweet throughout the process and I will truly miss my fitting appointments with her. Thank you, Mirna!

Myrna is friendly and sweet and very talented! I had tried to order a wedding dress online and the company neglected to finish my dress in time so I cancelled the order and luckily found a dress about a month before my wedding. However, it needed numerous alterations, plus I was almost 5 months pregnant and my belly was changing slightly week by week! Myrna was willing to fit me in multiple times in the few weeks before my wedding so we could make sure the dress was a perfect fit, and it was! Prices were comparable to another tailor I looked at in Thousand Oaks. It wasn't cheap, but it was well worth it, especially to work with someone as kind and helpful as Myrna.

A couple pics of my dress that Myrna literally had to alter a few sizes smaller.

I'm so grateful for Myrna she has not only helped me with a sequins dress that I had to get altered for my sisters wedding as her maid of honor but for my wedding dress that I wore this last Sunday Myrna is sweet, talented and fast! She gets right to the point and doesn't waste any time. She is understanding and very reasonable and gave me the best price both times and even when she had to alter my wedding dress 3 times since I kept losing weight lol. Thank you Myrna! My dress was awesome and I will always go to you and recommend you to everyone!!! Actually will be seeing you soon cause I'll be in another wedding in October

Myrna altered my wedding dress, and did a fantastic job. My dress was lace, and was very detailed on the bottom. She kept every detail as made the dress look untouched! Myrna is truly amazing, and she really takes pride in her work. She also truly cares about her customers. She's very attentive and easy to work with. I lost so much weight right before the wedding, the day i was supposed to pick up my dress and take it home i couldn't because it fit me big AGAIN, and it wasn't planned out To lose weight, it just happened, so she made the last minute alterations to make the dress fit me like a glove. Myrna is the best!

Thank you to Merna for making my dress feel just perfect!

Thank you Myrna! She adjust my arm lengths and tightness, waist and length... it felt just right! Tight enough to show off the dress but not too tight that I couldn't lift my arms and party on my wedding day! Honest and upfront and easy to work with!

Tailored wedding dress by Myrna

Myrna was lovely to work with and I felt safe being measured during this pandemic, as we both wore a mask and were the only customers allowed inside during my fitting appointments. She tailored my wedding dress to fit me perfectly and sewed in my dress straps to be extra secure. She showed my mom the bustle attachment buttons at the back, and we had no issues at all on my wedding day. Thank you so much Myrna! I'll be coming back for future fittings! You are lovely.

Here's some photos of the dress ! It was a tank style dress and Myrna turned it into this beautiful vintage lace sleeve dress !

Rome Tailor - Amazing stitching of my appliqué embellishments!

Rome Tailor

I've lived in Ventura my entire life and had no idea we had an old school tailor shop in town until…read moreI needed one really bad for some help with embellishing a vintage jacket. I tried to do it on my own but I was struggling, called up Rome Tailor, spoke to Yong who told me to bring the jacket in. The shop itself is a blast from the past with rolls of suit material (he custom makes his own!), vintage sewing machines and irons on display. I came to Yong needing this jacket done quickly (6 days) and although he hesitated at first, was willing to help me. He explained he would need to hand stitch my appliqué embellishments as my jacket was suede, it would be pricey due to the time he would need to spend ($40 each one). I happily paid this as I know suede is not easy to work with and I fully trusted his skill set and wanted this jacket to come out pristine (this vintage piece was for an event at Michael Jackson's Hayvenhurst property, so you gotta show up sharp to MJ's house)!! Yong had my jacket ready faster than quoted and let me tell you, it was PERFECT! I felt like a million bucks and got compliments all night, even from MJ's son, nephew and Michael Bush (MJ's long time costume designer)! I am so in love with this jacket and can't wait to bring more projects to Yong! Please do not be like me, though, and take your item in last minute. This was no fault of my own due to shipping but quality custom tailoring takes at least 2-3 weeks since Rome is so busy. And for a those saying he is "rude," NO. He takes his art seriously and was straight up with me but I can see how that would be misinterpreted by some (I personally enjoyed his vibe and the mini education he gave me while there). We are so lucky to have such a unique shop in our community that is probably one of the few left of its kind. Absolutely recommend! Thanks Yong!

His prices are commensurate with the quality of work that he does. So if you are looking to have something done cheap don't come here. But if you value quality and appreciate expert craftsmanship when it comes to your clothes and how you look, Rome Tailors is the place to go. He's also a very nice and pleasant person to do business with.

Having read the other review on Yelp, I thought this would be a perfect place to take my wedding…read moredress for alterations. I called to make an appointment and the lady I talked with on the phone said "If you need to change, just call us the day before." I called the day before because my bustier still hadn't arrived, and she rescheduled me for two weeks later. She took my phone number and said that if something opened up the following week, she'd give me a call, but otherwise, "just show up in two weeks." This morning was that two week mark. I packed up my dress, shoes, everything and went to the alterations place. The sign on the door said "closed saturday through tuesday. for pick up please call [#]." Okay. So I called the number. Maybe she was just coming in by appointment. The woman I spoke to said, "no, I've never heard of you, you don't have an appointment." Apparently this was a different woman than the one I had talked to (it seemed like a one-person kind of place, but what do I know? I'd just talked to them on the phone). I explained that I had made an appointment and she said "well you're not in the book." I said okay, so what do we do? She said, acting really put out, "well, what do you need done to the dress? do you just need it hemmed or what?" I started trying to explain to her, but then she acted like it was all a big deal, [also, aren't they supposed to SEE you with the dress on and THEY assess what needs to be done? I'm not a fashion designer!] so I broke off and told her, "I think I'll just go elsewhere; thanks for wasting my last three weeks." I'm not taking a wedding dress to someone who couldn't be bothered to say "sorry about the mix-up, let's reschedule you" instead of acting like I am some kind of pain in her butt for showing up to an appointment I had scheduled. I am hesitant to say anything negative during this wedding planning process because they always call you a bridezilla, but I do not want anyone to deal with this utter waste of time.

I've had her alter a bride's maid dress and a pair of pants, and she did a perfect job on both. She is friendly and helpful, and her rates are reasonable. Elizabeth spoke to my sewing class one night at Ventura College, and she was very inspiring. She taught herself to sew at the age of 12, and has had a very interesting life since then (she grew up in South America). Note: The door facing Loma Vista is usually locked, so use the entrance that faces the parking lot in between the 99 cent store and the CMH parking structure.
