I absolutely LOVE this Sugar Sand Festival. I have been here a few years now and this was hands…read moredown my favorite to date. I went by myself because I knew that it was Dino themed, which I am such a geek about and didn't want to hold up any of my family and friends while I just stared and took the tons of photos I knew I was going to take. Aside from loving the theme, you just have to be in awe of the amazing artwork, skill, patience, creativity, etc it takes to make any of these designs. Like I said, I have been there over the course of several years and honestly, I don't know why I don't make it an annual event to visit. It will never be the same and is reasonably priced. You also don't have people rushing you along to allow for more people to enter. If you feel you do, that is something you allow to happen as I have never felt, seen or heard anything like that. I love hearing people, young or old come in and gasp at the sights and the joy it brings to people while amazing them. To me, this is something that wows everyone, and brings smiles more so to the adults as they understand what it all takes to complete. They always have a sand sculptor present and working so that people can see what goes into the process. They also have a section dedicated to junior or aspiring professional sculptors to showcase their work, which you can vote on by putting in a donation in their boxes to help with their costs (and maybe decide the winner). Even those are wonderful but generally don't match the rest of the theme. 1000% advise anyone in the area during this festival to visit, it is well worth it.

The Safety Harbor Seafood Festival is fun. The festival located at the Veteran Memorial Marina Park…read moreprime location with the bay view at the backdrop. The festival bring different musician group to at every two hours. The songs range from R& B to 60's. The festival brings a lot of crowd. Other than the seafood, there are a lot of vendor selling different thing. There also drink and ice cream stand. You can buy ticket for the beer and pickup the beer you like. Parking is a nightmare, I was lucky to circle the city library and found a spot there. We have a very short walking distance. Bring cash to the festival to pick up the seafood you like. Most of the seafood is grilled or fried. They vender have grilled crab cake, fried coconut shrimp, fried calamari, fried oyster, fried clam, fried fish (Maryland rock fish, grouper, grouper cousin), grilled shrimp, deep fries gator meat, blacken fish, seafood jambalaya..... This is a pig out day! The people is amazing, security is great since the city police is control the traffic for the vehicle and allow pedestrian to cross. The only thing is most of the fried seafood is tasteless because lack of seasoning. They only have pepper, sea salt, and ketchup for you to add on. No cocktail sauce. We have order the Jambalaya, coconut shrimp, fried clam, calamari and crab cake. The park have marina and I see someone come with boat that solve the parking problem with direct access to the festival. For this festival is been there done that type of deal. Not sure will be back since the same day also has other festivals. We enjoy the time that we were there.

The different tents with all the art was quite a sight to be hold. Such Talent. I will admit I came home with a couple of pieces. Fabulous work some out of my price range and some affordable. They had a band playing and people were enjoying themselves. Pets were welcome. There was a children's area with art and games, there was a Huge VIP tent with comfortable furniture in there. ( it cost extra for VIP) The breeze off the water was great. It was a pretty good crowd people were happy it was great weather. There was Beer and Wine for sale. I noticed a a good amount of police on-site as well as medical so it felt secure.

I have so much fun trying all of the breweries on the main concourse, then when you try all of those there are tons more down where the ice would be. How much beer sampling can you do in a night, I guess is the question? 2 hours is plenty long enough for me. I also, typically go to Yard House before and after the event for more fun. They have photo booths, and video areas where they will put you on the jumbo tron. Plus a bomb DJ goes the entire night. I super duper recommend this event!

Yes, specifically for it. Why not? Bonus, we met up with friends and hung out with them, and had a good time. They have different craft vendors, beer and food, Mardi Gras masks and beads. They are all located down Main street. They have 4 band stages throughout Main street as well as John Pioneer Park in the middle of everything. Admission is free, but they have VIP which includes two drinks, appetizers, desserts, and special spots for the parade. Parade was suppose to be at 7:30, but ended up starting around almost 8pm. It lasted like about a half hour to an hour. It was cool in some parts, loud in other parts, and a lull in some parts. The best part was the hot law enforcement and firefights manning the streets. It was a fun festive experience that I am happy we checked off our list!!! If you want a post party afterwards, they have that at the surrounding bars and Club Blur! There is definitely something for everyone.

We attended a musical theater show at the performing arts center. The seats looked original to the 1920s-era building. They are in good shape, but perhaps not all the comfortable for modern bodies. I didn't mind the hard seat, but if you have back problems and it's a long show, you may want to bring a seat cushion with you. The seats are also rather narrow and the rows very close together, something to keep in mind if you are a plus-sized or tall individual. Think coach-class airline seats with less padding. The lighting for the show was excellent, but there was no sound system AT ALL. Sometimes the singers were drowned out by the piano, even though the pianist wasn't playing overly loudly. If you have some question about being able to hear the performance, you will definitely want to sit close to the front.

While they had made some concessions to the pandemic, like…read morerequiring masks, and trying to have everybody go one way (which did not work), and limiting attendance (I think, but could not tell) I do feel they could have made the aisles wider, instead of sticking booths so closely to both sides of the sidewalk. That being said, I really did like the quality and variety of artists present. I find it boring going to art shows that have too many jewelry booths or too many watercolors artists, etc. I ended up buying a painting, a necklace, 2 gourd mice, and a mug. My friend bought a silk jacket and a gorgeous lazy Susan. I loved that their prices were way more reasonable than what you find at the more high end art shows like Gasparilla Festival of the Art. Like all art shows in the area - get there early! It gets really crowded. Fortunately there were plenty of parking garages nearby, and we only had to walk 2 blocks. I am definitely adding this show to my yearly rotation of art shows.
