Decently easy beginner golf course. Most likely a lot of people's introduction to golf would happen here. Fairways and greens are iffy most of the time. People playing this course will probably be the most rude and hostile. Employee service is decent at best. No driving range but they have a putting green. Easy Par 5 to start the round. read more

I would give no stars if I could. I rented clubs and got an incomplete set, was charged for having an incomplete set when I got back and they said I lost a club. Not true. The clubhouse staff were incredibly rude. read more

The absolute worse golf course I was ever on. I think the US marine's were conducting exercises with tanks and trucks in the fairways, the day before I was there. 5 or 6 greens May have been good, the rest were really bad. Who was the guy extorting People for $3.00 to park, in a NYC owned parking lot on a Friday afternoon when I arrived. Never in my life have I seen anywhere on the entire east coast, golf course public, or private have to pay for parking. I would not go back there for free. Complete waste of my 5 hours that I will never get back. The people who actually have to work at this dog track, were very nice. read more

One of the most mismanaged courses I've ever been to. 10 min apart tee times while sending groups of 12 out? If you show up later for your tee time you can't play but the golf course can sure waste your time by being over an hour behind. Disgraceful. read more

Poorly maintained. Bring a cordless drill to drill a hole fir your tee. Fairways are burnt out and it's only June. Way overpriced. $80+ fir a round with a cart. I can play Forest Park or Douglaston for less money and better maintained course. It's no wonder we could get a tee time when other courses were booked. read more

There are two employees that have the worst attitude. These two seem to have a disdain for their customers. From my experience, the attitude the employees bring to work is usually a reflection of management's attitude. I witnessed one incident yesterday where the golf course employee called a particular party over the loudspeaker system and said that your group will not be able to start to play until 1 pm (it was 11 am at this point). He went on to say in an obnoxious tone of voice "that you can wait or you can leave." His tone was such that you can tell he derives pleasure from the power he has over the customers. If Clearview was a restaurant and the host treated its customers the way these two employees do, it would have gone out of business long ago. read more

One of the course rangers named Joy is a very horrible middle aged woman who harasses teenagers. She is unfair, horrible, irrational, and unprofessional. My friend and I who are 18 and 16 respectively were kicked off the course by this woman on hole 15. For no reason she assumed we teed off at noon when we had teed off at 4:30. She proceeded to prevent us from teeing off and forced us to play holes 17 and 18 WHILE TRAILING US and to get off the course. While we were on hole 18 she drove back to the pro shop and watched us from the window to make sure we finished. Despite being able to check the system for proof of our integrity she continued to insist that we had teed off at noon and were taking advantage of the course. She is a total nut job. Refuses to listen to reason and continues to lie. By far the most unprofessional distasteful treatment I have ever received on a golf course. This is not how you treat paying customers, let alone children. read more

came here for a golf outing and I was pleasantly surprised. I used to golf here many years ago, but stopped because it got way too congested and the course itself was in disrepair. Apparently, they are under new management (for quite some time I was told) and they really spruced the place up. The pro shop albeit small, has many top end accouterments. The bar/restaurant has a nice menu, full bar, and bartenders who are very happy to serve you (Stacy) The course itself, while not terrible challenging, does have some very nice holes and the fairways and greens are kept in prime condition. Perhaps the few times I make the trip to play Clearview are the exact times the course is in disrepair and very crowded. Standing on the first tee ready to go is one of my favorite feelings in life. Brimming with confidence you press your tee into the ground, envision your shot and let it rip. But at Clearview I never feel particularly excited. The fairways are either punched or burnt, the rough is not penalizing and the par 4's are short, straight and with little to no imagination. No practice facilities, no clubhouse and a pace of play that will keep the decient player from reaching any level of flow and pace of play to get around the course in a fair amount of time and post a good score. One extra star goes to the greens which always seem to roll smooth. Once you pick your line and roll your putt on it, typically it holds well. A good putter of the golf ball can make up strokes on the shirt grass. read more

Played 9/10/21and I should have checked the reviews before I booked a foursome here! Calling this place a cow pasture would be an insult to cow pastures. Many tee boxes and greens were balding and you can't tell where the fairways are-they all look like the rough (except that the rough didn't have nearly as much crabgrass as the fairways). I have NEVER played at a course in worse shape. At $70 for greens fees, cart and parking, you are getting ripped off. TBH, if they only charged half that, I would still not go back. The ONLY good thing to say about this place is that the guys that work there were very nice. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE!!!! read more

I gotta say, for $30 all in, I was right to expect the worst, but I had a slight hope that it was just a really good deal. Save your money. The tee box on 17/18 holes were atrocious and the fairways looked worse than the worst roughs. Expect to three putt every time you're on the green - if you're lucky you haven't lost your ball along the way. As for the staff, they seemed friendly enough, but definitely didn't care much. They were short on golf carts and our tee time was pushed back 15 minutes waiting for a group to finish up. It really was a shame since the course layout is perfect for beginners and the casual golfer. I'd say that if you are in the mood to play, pay the extra for Van Cortlandt, Forest Park, Douglaston, or hell, pay less and play the flushing meadows pitch and putt. Until someone tends to this course, all of them would be way more enjoyable than playing Clearview. read more

Starting off with the greens they are an awful conditions patches of dirt on every green throughout the entire 18 holes second off the fairways terrible could not tell what was fairway and could not tell one was rough from the distance from the distance this was sad to say the worst course in conditions I have ever played in my life The staff was OK except for a guy named Marshall or Mitch he was cool the guy named Joe or John what is a douche I called earlier to see if we can bring bottles of water and Gatorade on the course he said no you have to purchase them through the pro shop in a very smug tone I will not be coming back to this course I thought cwas a bad course this takes the cake. read more

Made a Tee time online, like they tell you to do when you call the pro shop. The day before I was supposed to play I came down with a cough, fever, sore throat. I figured since there is a global pandemic and all, I probably shouldn't come in and get the entire place sick. I called the pro shop to cancel the tee time and the guy seriously tells me " you can't cancel, that's your problem" I asked him if he preferred I come in with covid symptoms and he tells me "that's up to you". This is by far the worst course in the NY area. The conditions are horrible. It's like playing in an open field where a blind man wandered around and placed sticks in the ground. There has been little if any maintenance work. Crabgrass and weeds are everywhere. Forget about fairways.....there are none. The greens?..well same thing they're not really greens they are areas of dirt and patchy grass. In fact I would go as far as to say as the city should take control of this course, close it down and correct the issues. As it stands now the +$70 they charge on the weekend is price gouging, scamming and borderline criminal. If they were selling merchandise the city would have closed them down and arrested the owners. If you decide to play here be forewarned YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY. On top of all that the staff actually has the nerve to be difficult and rude. Oh I forgot , don't be surprised when you're making the turn if the pro shop throws a foursome in front of you. There's a reason they often have tee times when no one else does. read more

After reading a ton of reviews saying pace of play would be super slow, I mentally prepared myself for a long day on the course (not that there is anything wrong with this). A group of us went for a 630 tee time on a Sunday morning, and I must say - it was a great day. We tee'd off only 10 minutes past our tee time, and the course ran 5 hours, with the back nine significantly quicker than the front. They start the tee's at 450am, so yes - if you go at 9am on a Sunday, prepare to have a long day out there. The course itself was a very pleasant surprise. Quite aesthetic, and for a city course 20 minutes from midtown, it was well within and above expectations. We all felt it was well maintained, nice views of the bridge, and the greens had some movement to them. Go early, and you will have no problems at all. Will definitely be back. read more

Not a long course 6300 yards a little shorter than Marine Park. Been playing city courses over the last 16 years and i think this and Bethpage are consistently the best overall. Fairways and greens are in good shape but food and beverage services are best when you bring your own. Pros: consistently maintained, close to the city (30 min.), and reasonable green fees Cons: five hour rounds are expected on weekends, food is horrible but prices are ok read more

Since the Parks Department franchised its municipal courses to an operating company, the firm running them has done fine on some courses (Marine Park and Van Courtlandt) and ruined others with poor management...like Douglaston and Clearview. Too much demand, not enough supply in Queens, apparently. Tee times are "give or take 45 minutes", parking fees, needless delays. t's like Golfing at Disney World....waiting and waiting for seconds of pleasure. If 5-hour+ rounds are your thing, here's your course. If it's not Senior League groups chasing their 7 Wood shots, it's the Asian doctors and their wives taking 6 practice swings per stroke, or treating every putt like it's the Masters. The greens roll pretty true. Everyone thinks they are too good to repair ball marks and divots. There's plenty of time between shots, people. Please don't reward this bad management. Drive out to Nassau County and play Eisenhower Park or Bethpage and reduce your frustration level. Even with the extra driving time, you'll still finish earlier than at Clearview. read more

I played 18 holes this past Saturday with two other golfers. Has a 940 tee time and we got out around 10, which is standard for public course on a weekend. The course overall was kept in pretty good shape besides the sand traps, looked and felt like dirt rather than sand. Aside from the 3-5 min wait per tee off I liked this course a lot. Very straight holes, which led to a relatively easy low scoring opportunity. Nice views of the bridge from a view of the holes which added to the playing in queens dynamic. Look to set aside 5.5 hours for 18 holes and get out before 10. Would definitely come back. read more

What a dump. Noisy location next to the Clearview Expressway. Horrible course conditions...fairways were chewed up, tee boxes were pathetic, no rough whatsoever. And every hole looks exactly the same. Nothing interesting or unique about one single inch of this property. This course is in the worst condition I have ever seen it...in decades! Bald tee boxes, crabgrass the predominant grass species and bare spots in the fairways and roughs everywhere. I thought this was a pretty solid track. It was in very good shape, has some great views on a few holes, and wasn't overly easy or challenging. The fairways can be a bit narrow on some holes, but even if you stray into another fairway, recovery isn't too tough. My only real complaint about this course was the pace of play. We were not able to tee off until about 15-20 minutes after our scheduled tee time. I think it may have been a combination of the late start, the amount of people playing that day, and the amount of walkers, but a 6 hour round is not something I typically enjoy. The food/drink stand that you hit on each nine (because there aren't any cart girls) had great hot dogs and a wide variety of drinks available. All said, I would definitely play here again. read more

Nice course it's in good shape with only one temporary hole and it's a good deal at $42 for 18 holes with a cart plus limited lunch menu and 2 tap beers but the $3 parking is a bit annoying and the pace of play is slow I had a 9:22 tee time and finished at 2:30. I spoke to the ranger about the pace of play he stated there are many seniors who play there in a morning league and can't move their knees like they use to and 5 hours is a normal round for city golf. I found both comments ridiculous this is what's killing the game, 5 hour plus rounds and we wonder why golf is dying in America plus the rangers job is to keep the pace of play at 4-4.5 hours encourage people to play ready golf and make them aware they are playing slow. Also if you have no business playing from the tips don't feel you have to so you feel as if you are somehow getting youre money's worth come on up to the whites with the rest of us. You'll enjoy the game a lot more and improve the pace of play. read more
