My 2008 BMW was in need of a little TLC, and I noticed that the wear on the headlights was significantly impacting light projection at night. At one point a few years back I tried a DIY lense cleaner with little success, so this time considered replacing both lights. Before doing so, a little research led me to Clearly Better Headlight Restoration. Their price was less than 1/3 of replacements (not including labor to replace), and I was impressed by the before and after photos I saw. I contacted them via their website, and quickly received a response from Lorraine to set up an appointment. She and Tim arrived on time and are two of the nicest people I've ever done business with! I'm pretty stingy with 5 Star ratings, but at this point I think these folks earn it. It is a shame that they are most likely to be found on Yelp by those who search near Warrenton. I got my car done by Clearly Better over the weekend at WB Motors in Fairfax while WB is not working for mechanical service customers so the shop was otherwise empty. However, they can come to your home (or work?) in the Northern VA area, on a weekend, so their home location is really not much of an issue. It would be ideal if their location in this listing could reflect the areas serviced rather than just their home. A while back I purchased and used one of those Maguire kits to restore my own headlights on my Sienna van, and I was very happy at first. After a few months though, the headlamp fogging was as bad as ever. I recently brought my car for mechanical service into WB in Fairfax, where Clearly Better co-proprietor Tim works on weekdays. While there, I got an offer for the headlight restore. I've been going to WB for years, and have known them to be honest and competent, so I felt comfortable giving Tim's Clearly Better a try, and I'm glad I did. They use a completely different system for completely professional restoration, and it looks much better that after my Maguire kit job. The service does come with a multi year warranty, but I'll be back here with an edit in the unlikely event that my enthusiasm for the work has waned. I found the pricing reasonable for 2 hours of work. All materials and supplies are included in their quote. My headlights look like new! I don't think they looked this clear even when I bought the car. I had tried a DIY kit on my yellowed Mazda 3 headlights after they didn't pass inspection, but the results only lasted a few months. I brought my 2002 SAAB 95 in for the annual safety inspection. The foggy dim headlights were again causing the car to fail inspection. Last year I did them myself with a DIY kit to re-polish the plastic headlight lenses. It improved the clarity to pass but they needed it again this year. The technician recommended Clearly Better Headlight Restoration (703-915-9595). They have a mobile service. They came to my house on a Saturday morning (Springfield, VA), it took about two hours and headlights are crystal clear. It was explained that not all headlights are UV protected and the plastic yellows and fogs from UV damage. Now they are back to new condition with UV protection and a 3 year guarantee. The cost was $150, can't beat it especially if you plan on keeping your car and avoid complete replacement of the headlight assemblies which can run into the hundreds of dollars (or over $1,000) per headlight.
