I've tried ClearCaptions several times over many yrs. Each time, except the last, I sent the machine back after little use for a variety of problems. The last time, it was just as bad as prior years so I was going to send it back. I was told to throw it out. To me, that was a clear indication the device was a piece of junk.
But due to my inability to hear and for emergencies, I tried it once more some time later. Saw it in a doctor's office and the looks had changed I hoped. The ads on tv don't portray reality. It's prone to voice recognition errors (some corrected by the CC person). So, I went in search of something that would actually help.
I purchased a Roger Pen (Phonak) that's bluetooth compatible (and can be purchased used from eBay. New too costly and not covered by my insurance).
I will offer to return the machine one final time or be told to toss it. For me, it's not worth it. My suggestion is to contact your ENT or audiologist and ask if you can try using the machine for a working demo and offer to pay for the call.
Good luck. read more
