Many masseuers that I contacted had appointments from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and I work. Saturday appointments were hard to get and often got canceled. Actually the cancellations were what drove me away. I have had massages at some of the franchise joints down the hill and have been very disappointed. The one that stands out was more like a fondling my skin rather than making any headway on knots in my muscles. It was expensive and it took a lot of time to fill out all of the contracts and medical info. Then one day I found myself in Crystal and was quite surprised that they don't care about my name. Don't make me write anything down. Take me to the back, soak my feet and give me whatever intensity of massage I ask for. Today they asked if I wanted soft or hard and I said hard- I meant it- so did they. While I never felt like my life was on the line, there were times when I was convinced I was losing a wrestling match. They did get every knot addressed and my super tight neck and shoulders finally have some relief. I definitely got my money's worth. I highly recommend. However, if you do not want a full intensity massage, do not say that you want your massage hard.

Because of my asthma issues I agreed with the massage therapist that I would only wear the mask for last 15 min of the massage when my head is up. Well, the lady just texted me saying she wants to cancel because of Covid and the mask issue (I would have to wear a mask the whole time and she changed her mind... ok... I can understand it with the whole changing Covid situation)...I suggested I could send my girlfriend there who can take my spot and wear the mask the whole entire massage... the lady said no which makes it pretty obvious to me she simply did not want to give this massage and changed her mind not giving us nearly enough notice to find someone else... it's allI find it incredibly unprofessional to cancel last minute without a legitimate reason! So if you are visiting Nevada City for just a weekend and need a dependable massage therapist I'd look somewhere else. The response to the review is totally ridiculous. As I said I let the owner know I am 100% ok wearing a mask the whole time of the massage. After she cancelled last minute I did say it again - I was more than ok wearing a mask and she still said no! Come on-that is just more than clear to me that she just didn't want to do it leaving me cold and dry after I scheduled this weeks before. Went In for a "knot" treatment and it was intense but Carla was careful and deliberate with her treatment. For a second I almost thought it hadn't worked because the next day I still had a lot of pain, but the following day all my pain was gone so I realize now that the pain I was feeling the day before was soreness from the massage. She's also very fairly priced as well, def will see her again!
