Damned be the days that I didn't know about Chinese reflexology massages. I used to try to book with conventional massages but had many struggles. Mostly their hours are narrow. Many masseuers that I contacted had appointments from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and I work. Saturday appointments were hard to get and often got canceled. Actually the cancellations were what drove me away. I have had massages at some of the franchise joints down the hill and have been very disappointed. The one that stands out was more like a fondling my skin rather than making any headway on knots in my muscles. It was expensive and it took a lot of time to fill out all of the contracts and medical info. Then one day I found myself in Crystal and was quite surprised that they don't care about my name. Don't make me write anything down. Take me to the back, soak my feet and give me whatever intensity of massage I ask for. Today they asked if I wanted soft or hard and I said hard- I meant it- so did they. While I never felt like my life was on the line, there were times when I was convinced I was losing a wrestling match. They did get every knot addressed and my super tight neck and shoulders finally have some relief. I definitely got my money's worth. I highly recommend. However, if you do not want a full intensity massage, do not say that you want your massage hard. read more

Samur gave me a great 30 min back and 30 min foot massage. She was very present, strong with pressure the way I like, and didn't chat with other people while massaging etc which is common in some reflexology massage places. This was in shared space with another client getting a massage at the same time so remember if you go to wear loose pants, easy to remove top. Back massage requires you to take your shirt off and she snaps a towel over you so you can semi disrobe in private. If that bothers you, book a full body and have your own room. read more

I feel cheated. Today's massage was horrible, like real bad sex. The guy basically put lotion on me, he needs more training. They didn't understand what ticklish meant. Most masseuse's know how to handle my ticklish feet. I was stressed most of the time. I don't want the guy fired, but TRAIN HIM BETTER! Second time I've been to this spot. The first time it was excellent. The Second time it had really gone down hill. The massages were beyond basic. Zero pressure. And, to top it off after getting the massage I offered a 20% tip and they rejected it wanting more. I paid the $20 tip for the terrible massage and I will never ever go back. Every town and city should have a Crystal Massage. Sure I love going to my regular therapist for deep tissue etc but massage doesn't always need to be so "fancy". Excellent Chinese style massage. We both got the 60 minute cloths on foot massage and fell asleep which was perfect. English is limited but once you've had a Chinese style massage once or twice you will understand the routine. We will return. Why not 5 stars? Because it's hard to compare to a traditional western massage with the ambience, custom for you, and English speaking. This is my go to massage place. Personally I have been a massage therapist for 23 years. I have significant brain damage and feel pretty terrible in my body 24/7 due to raging nerves. Whenever I have an outcall massage to give in the area I stop in to get a session at Crystal Massage. I get a different therapist every time. They have all been excellent. With low walls it's not very private, which in Asian massage is a good thing. You wont have to negotiate yourself out of a "happy ending." It's therapeutic massage and good therapeutic at that. I've been here several times, they never disappoint! Great deep tissue technique, the 2 hour foot and body combo is awesome! Wow! This place was great. Kinda awkward with a huge room with partitions but you can get over that. Their English is very limited as others have stated but it's all good. Is it supposed to hurt? This guy was digging and I mean DIGGING his forearms and elbows into my entire back and now I feel sore, I'm worried if I look in the mirror I will see bruises. I love this place because it is clean, no nonsense, affordable and the massages given are very effective. David is an amazing masseuse there and he never disappoints. Very consistent. The foot massage is a type of whole body massage. Tip well! The staff works really hard. I have migraines which affect my shoulders and neck. David's massages give me instant relief and they also help prevent my headache cycle. I am forever grateful for this. Amazing. Im lucky enough to have gotten a lot of foot massage/reflexology over the years, and this was in the top 3 EVER! That's saying a lot because I've gotten at least 40 over the past 10 years or so in many different places, from the bay to la to the east coast. One thing that was unique to this location was the Velcro towel they provided so you can remove your bra for the massage. Much appreciated because it allows the masseuse to have more fluid moves and you can relax even more. Also, it was great pressure, great technique, very clean and relaxing. You need to start coming here twice a month if you live in the area, you owe it to yourself. If you've never gotten one, just stop reading this review and get over there asap! And just so you know, if you're new to this whole "foot massage" thing- you're signing up for a full body massage. The "foot massage" just focuses on the feet more (about 20 mins out of the 60) while the body only doesn't focus on feel at all. I like the foot massage, my husband usually does body. Awesome reflexology! The shop is super clean and well put together. I have gone twice on my own & once with my husband. The therapists that I have gotten each time have been excellent. They really paid attention to my muscles. They also gave extra attention to areas that were really tight and needing to be worked out. I always leave feeling so much better and relaxed. A lot of people feel like the Asian massage places are a bit rough. The pressure they use is harder than just a traditional Swedish massage. Crystal Massage is conveniently located at the Safeway shopping center off Brunswick Rd and Sutton. I had just moved to GV and because of the lifting, twisting, and turning I decided my body needed a good massage. I called and made an appointment (best way to be seen in a timely fashion). I found the facility to be very clean, the massage table comfortable (though I would like the hole for my face to be a little bit bigger when having my back worked on). I opted for the man to work on me and he did an excellent job of kneading, pulling, pushing, and applying pressure where needed. I was very surprised when he applied the "hot" stones to my back. Once I got used to the heat it was pleasant. I think I will ask not to have the stones so I can gauge which method works best for me. If you speak Mandarin you will be able to communicate your specific needs or desires. Otherwise, miming really works well. The staff is very friendly and gracious. If you been to other cheap massage places this is the best around. But that is not saying much. You get what you pay for. Depends on the person giving massage. Sometimes you get a pro and some times a trainee. The foot massage also includes full body. Wear thin leggings so the can massage over pants. Ladies ...they will give you a wrap to put on top. You start off sitting while they massage your shoulders while soaking feet in warm purifying water. Then you lay down facing toward ceiling. They start off on legs and feet. After that they flip you on your stomach and start on your back. I always get the 1.5 hr foot massage. Good luck. read more
