Erica is an absolute dream to work with. She got to know my husband and I during our engagement photoshoot. My husband and I were pretty uncomfortable with the idea of having a day where all eyes were on us, and yet she made the whole experience so comfortable and helped us overcome our awkward fears. She was fantastic at giving subtle direction to capture just the right moment. She also helped navigate a rainy day in Central Park for the shoot, helping to hold umbrellas and working to avoid downpours to keep my hair and makeup decent (bless her!) After our engagement shoot, we consulted with her on our wedding day, the schedule, the 'must haves' on our photo list and that we were mostly hoping to capture us and our guests having a great time dancing. Erica came prepared and flexible as changes arose in pre-wedding shoot venues. She had a great eye, stopping us occasionally in front of cool buildings/graffiti in Williamsburg to take portrait and couples photos. She moved quickly through all of the 'must haves; she knows what she is doing and is efficient! Additionally, I (stupidly) did not prepare her that I would have a gown change during the evening; regardless, she was ready to capture my 're-entry'. She was truly there at all of the right moments without feeling invasive at all. She was also extremely patient with my mother, who suffers from dementia, giving small and clear adjustments to avoid my mother being confused or overwhelmed. We've gotten our preview photos so far and it's just amazing how much a talented photographer can do for two awkward people. She was able to capture the highlights of the evening and caught us looking natural, relaxed, and just so happy. My husband is very camera-shy but she gave really good direction and made him feel very comfortable. We worked with Erica for our February wedding at Brooklyn Winery. She has done many weddings there and all the staff there love her - and I can see why. Her aesthetic was exactly what we were going for. We found Clean Plate Pictures when we were looking for wedding venues. The Red Hat, a cute restaurant on the Hudson River sent us a link to some photos of a wedding they had hosted. My now husband who is a photographer himself was very impressed by the quality of the photos, and I was smitten with the way Erica was able to capture the most candid moments which gave a feel as though I was present at the event by viewing the pictures. We ultimately did not choose that venue, but we knew from the start the Clean Plates would be our wedding photographer- yes, even before a venue or dress or anything was selected. We video chatted and we met and she is super professional, down to earth, responsive and easy to work with. On the days leading up to the wedding, she made sure we had a time line to get everything running smoothly. On our wedding day, she was fun, creative and flexible when the weather was colder than anticipated. Choosing a photographer for my wedding was pretty stressful. I was first out of my New York friends to get married, and had no recommendations to go by ... until I came across Erica's yelp reviews ( every single one -- 5 stars!). Erica is an awesome photographer who also happens to be a total sweetheart -- her photos absolutely DO NOT look like all the other wedding pics out there. I have been meaning to write this review for a very long time. We picked Erica as our engagement and wedding photographer by looking at her website and her stellar yelp reviews and are so glad we did. My husband hates having his photo taken and she made us both feel super comfortable. I think he was actually enjoying it by the end of the engagement shoot. When I decided to get engaged in New York, I wanted to find a photographer that could capture us as a couple, and the city that we love so much. I had a very defined look that I wanted in our photographs. I cannot recommend erica beckman highly enough! she hit all of our requirements and then went above and beyond: 1. price point: even her 'small plate' is a generous portion! the minimum of 6 hours of coverage with two shooters and the online photo gallery were key. she beat other photographers I contacted with comparable packages by a long shot. 2. warm & welcoming personality: my husband and I are uncomfortable in front of a camera. but erica knew just how to loosen us up and get us acting natural. setups that I thought would look too contrived ended up being some of our favorites! just trust her and you'll get amazing results. it helped that we were able to meet her twice before our wedding date -- once to check out our venue and to scout possible locations for group shots. her input about our outdoor ceremony spot spurred us to move the whole thing indoors. and I'm SO happy we did! 3. adaptable & creative: erica used backgrounds I wouldn't even have considered, like the graffiti murals in our venue, rebar; she arranged people like puzzle pieces in huge group portraits; and she managed to handle even the unruliest guests - and I know how trying that can be! 4. prompt & professional: I appreciate fast follow-ups (ironic, considering how late this review is) and erica was great, with both emails and text messages. during our first meeting, we got down to business and she laid out all her packages, brought sample photo books and asked us to fill out a questionnaire to get a better feel of us as a couple so she could cater the photos to our style. I appreciated her journalistic approach - direct and open. 5. romantic, energetic & honest photos: what attracted me to erica's photos in the first place was the inherent natural intimacy, and at the risk of sounding cheesy, the palpable feeling of love and comfort. ok, I know this is at least a tiny bit due to her gorgeous subjects, but erica captured that sense of peeking into a very private, very lovely, moment. My husband and I chose Clean Plate Pictures to handle the photography for our wedding day. We couldn't have been more pleased with not only the quality of photos, but with the level of level-headedness and professionalism that owner Erica displayed. My family is not the easiest to work with, especially because they were insistent upon specific family photos. Erica treated my family so nicely in spite of all the demands. Additionally, she was extremely easy to reach and always got back to myself and my family right away--which is extremely important. On the day itself, Erica and her two assistants worked their magic. We chose to add in a photo booth option, which my friends all loved. I also enjoyed the intimate photos that she took of me and my sister getting ready. She made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera (which is rare, seeing as I am someone who is extremely camera shy). She chatted up my friends and family and made them feel very relaxed in front of the camera as well, which was evidenced by all the very natural looking photographs. I don't even know where to begin with how amazing Erica is! Erica was the first vendor we booked after our venue. We knew exactly what we wanted our pictures to look like, and Erica's pictures were it. Her style is incredible. We wanted mainly candid pictures and limited staged pictures. Erica was so patient and flexible with us with our many changes due to COVID. We changed venues and dates multiple times and she always worked to accommodate us. We hired Clean Plate for our wedding day photos and had our engagement shoot done by them as well. We worked with Tanya, as Erica was busy on our wedding day. The second shooter Tanya brought was Sarah, I think? Either way, I'm sure Erica would have been amazing to work with as well from what we could tell as we worked through all the logistics with her but we loved Tanya and Sarah. My husband and I felt really awkward taking portraits so we'd usually end up just cracking jokes and laughing at each other. Tanya worked with us to get us to feel more comfortable, which worked to a degree (we're just really difficult). On the day of, Tanya showed up to my parents' house and Sarah went to shoot the guys. I have 3 dogs and it was such a relief to me that Tanya was comfortable around them (and even got some great shots of them). They worked well with our other vendors and were really good about blending in during the reception. There were a lot of pictures taken during the reception where I don't remember seeing either Tanya or Sarah around. We loved the final product and the number of pictures we received. If you like the aesthetic of Clean Plate's finished photographs, you can't go wrong with them. They are a little pricier than what I've seen from other wedding photographers but I think you get what you pay for. read more

I can't recommend Erica enough. I was married at the Green Building this past April, and she did such an amazing job. Her photography is so high quality--very elegant, and definitely captured the mood, look, and "feeling" of the event. So professional, yet also very fun (she captured some incredible candid shots). I'm so excited to leave this review because I want everyone to have the super positive experience my husband and I had with this team of photographers. We found Clean Plate through Yelp (of course!) after having a bad experience with another photographer for our Seattle engagement photos. We flew to NY to visit family over Christmas and decided to find someone to redo the photos for us. I found Erica on Yelp and was pretty much sold just from looking at the pictures on her website. The pictures looked interesting because they seemed to capture moments and not just people, and a lot of the pictures had funky backdrops which by themselves often seemed a little rough and odd, but then made perfect sense with a couple in it. My future husband and I met up with Erica and pretty much booked her right away We got exactly what we hoped for. We first did an engagement shoot in Williamsburg and Dumbo several months before the wedding which gave us plenty of material for our wedding invitations. Apart from the standards with all the classic Dumbo settings Erica really showed her gift for the unique picture. There was one shot on a decidedly unpretty corner in Williamsburg that had a weird old man walking by us in the picture. You would think that's a picture that goes right into the garbage, but for some reason it's one of my favorite ones. And then the wedding: The pictures were spectacular. My least favorite ones, if there were any, were actually the standard group pictures with the families. They were fine, but this isn't where Erica shines the most. Her strength is to move around, find and capture all these little fun and touching moments that will tell the story of the day. My husband and I have looked at the pictures since the wedding many times, and every time it really is like reliving the day. Oh, and the photo booth! I can only recommend getting it, it was so much fun! We bought props at the Party store beforehand for it, our guests really went wild and we have tons of crazy pictures. We had our guest book next to the photo booth and had everyone put in one of the two strips that come out from every shot. Overall: Erica is a total pro, super-creative, fun to work with, reasonably priced - we couldn't have been happier. read more

Clean Plate Pictures and Clean Plate's principal, Erica, did an amazing job for our wedding. She was communicative, informative, and friendly at every step of the process. She's a very talented and hardworking photographer. She quickly switched through her vast array of cameras/lenses (I believe she had five camera bodies at our wedding) to shoot in a wide variety of different settings and lighting conditions: outdoors in a surprise snowstorm, back-lit, bright sunshine, and candlelight. She didn't miss a moment and captured the essence of our wedding, our guests, and our feelings on that day perfectly. And she, her second shooter, and her lovely assistant were a pleasure to work with throughout the day. After the wedding, Erica has been great too. She put up five teaser pictures on Facebook within days of the wedding, and then sent us all the pictures (and added about 125 of the best to her blog: http://www.cleanplatepictures.com/blog/) about two months later. I've participating in weddings where the photographers were pushy, cheesy, and/or obtrusive, and whose work product was disappointing. Clean Plate pictures is the exact opposite. Erica did an amazing job with shooting our wedding! We had a very specific idea of what we wanted for our wedding photos and were quite particular about making sure that we ended up with someone who had a focus on more natural shots (nothing overly posed). Our wedding venue recommended Erica/Clean Plate and she was exactly what we were looking for and we could not be happier with how the pictures have turned out! We met with Erica several months before our wedding and she was incredibly, helpful, patient and responsive in addressing all of our questions. She was the first photographer we had met with and after talking through with her what we wanted for our wedding pictures we decided there was no need to look any further; it was an excellent match! From there working with her was incredibly easy, smooth and straightforward. She is very clear about what to expect and listened carefully to what we wanted. She captured tons of fabulous pictures and was very sensitive to the fact that getting your picture taken constantly is not always the easiest or most comfortable position to be in (or, at least not for us). By the end, we both had relaxed significantly thanks to the ease of Erica and her assistant and some of our favorite shots from that day ended up being ones that are technically posed, though she still manages give everything a natural look that reflected us. If you're looking for a wedding photographer, stop now and go with Clean Plate Pictures. Working with Erica was a dream. Our engagement pictures and wedding pictures are absolutely stunning (and we've only seen the wedding teasers so far). My family and friends are commenting on the gorgeous pictures as I write this. We used one of our engagement shoot pix for our Save the Date and people commented that we looked like models. When I first got engaged, I made a spreadsheet comparing 100 photographers in the tri-state area and ultimately decided on Clean Plate Pictures (and am so glad I did). Erica takes gorgeous pictures and is not afraid of being assertive to get people/objects in or out of the shot to make it perfect. i started a yelp account to review all of our wedding vendors! there are really no words to describe how professional and wonderful erica and her team were to work with for our wedding. from the very first inquiry to the day after email about what to expect erica was so communicative, which is really important to me. i knew from the moment i saw her website that we had to have her do our wedding. every picture is perfectly touched capturing the moment in a most romantic way. before the wedding we emailed a few times and met in person to go over different sites that would be good for our first look photos and bridal party pictures. she had wonderful ideas and really listened to what we wanted as well. the day of the wedding erica and her team were amazing. everyone was so easy, sweet and fun to be around! it was terribly hot that day, but erica and anna were so positive and encouraging while we took pictures outdoors. they reassured me and comforted me as i was becoming overwhelmed by the heat. my bustle broke during the first ten minutes and anna so lovingly fixed it, which saved me from having to beat up my friend who stepped on it. during the evening erica noticed my grandfather and came up to me and asked if we would like a picture together. it is something that i never would have thought of during the evening and it really meant so much to me that she noticed. not only in the big details, but also the small she is a true professional. i could really go on and on about how great erica and her team are. from the very beginning i knew that our wedding photos were in great hands. i can't wait to see our pictures! i have no doubt that they will be beautiful! we feel so fortunate to have found such an amazing photographer. read more
