Anyways, my dearest friend ChatGPT told me to get a lymphatic drainage massage specifically for post surgery and this place was listed as one of three. I used to go to The Tox, but that is just for circulation purposes and compared to that place, this place seemed more legit. I had to have my surgeon send them a letter signing off on the massage to make sure my body would not be impacted and my wounds were fully healed to get this massage. The minute I showed up, I knew this place was what my body needed. My person told me to change into disposable bra and panties, assessed my body and asked me where my incisions from my surgery were. When she saw they were more than healed, but scarred at this point, she wrapped my body in plastic and put me in the sauna to start the initial detoxing process. Service was impressive! It is like she knew when I would run out of water and brought me more water in between. When I thought I couldn't take the heat any longer, ding, the chicken (me) was done baking. Normally I dread massages. They are painful and I get very stressed out. However, this one was so relaxing and my person realized it was my gut that was acting up the most so she spent more time on my tummy. I won't say that I felt debloated or depuffed instantly, but I felt relaxed. It does take 24-72 hours to feel the full affect of a session and based on past experience at The Tox, the 72 hour mark is when it hits. I get so lethargic I need to sleep all day and night. Luckily that would be NYE for me and this year I do not have concrete plans. I will be nice and spritely for my date the 2nd. Two thumbs up for this place. Disclaimer: both The Tox and this place are great. However, I will note that The Tox markets looking leaner due to lymphatic drainage. This place is more medical and is to help the lymphatic system calm down after it has been in shock after an invasive surgery like mine. However, I will say one thing and it will not rub some the right way, but I have been doing this for many years along with other body sculpting moments (check my other reviews). I started scanning facial places in Koreatown because I decided I wanted to get one there. I found WB Spa on Google. They have a nice, functional website where you can book online. Since I was coming last minute, I gave them a call to confirm their availability. They were able to see me asap. Their location is on the 5th floor of a building at the end of Koreatown, closer to 5th Ave. I didn't have to buzz in and an elevator is available. The spa is located right off of the elevator when you get off. The building itself is kind of ugly and grimey, but WB itself is clean and modern looking once you step inside. They have a waiting area to sit while you wait for your service. I didn't have to wait at all. They took me in immediately for my Deep Cleansing Facial ($65). The price point is very good as they use various machines and steaming techniques throughout the 45 minute facial. You can take off your shoes and sit on the comfortable beds during your service. I left feeling relaxed with soft skin. One thing I didn't care for was my esthetician talking to her coworkers while she was doing my service. The room I was in didn't have a wall that went all the way to the ceiling, so she was basically shouting to her coworkers while in the next room while I'm on the table. It ruined the relaxation aspect for a bit, though she eventually stopped doing this. The only bathroom in the facility is a bathroom in the hallway that has to be opened with a key. It's very small, not fancy. But if you need it, it's there. I suggest paying in cash because if you pay with card, they will charge you tax plus a credit card surcharge, so it basically increases the cost of the service by $5 or more to pay with a credit card. They have a member card where you can get a free service after visiting 10 times and I was given one upon leaving. Overall, this was a decent, clean spot at an affordable price. Upon entry you check in, they give you slippers, you change into your robe and then depending on your package you either wait in the zen area with tea or water, or go straight into your massage. STAY AWAY. I had what was easily the worst massage of my life here…read more Earlier in the day, I specifically called and requested Tony. I was told that wouldn't be a problem. When I arrived for my 9 PM appointment, a woman walked into the room instead. I asked if Tony was available, and she responded with something I couldn't understand before immediately beginning the massage by wrapping my head in a towel with the force of someone trying to start a lawn mower. I genuinely thought my earrings were about to be ripped out of my ears. I asked her within the first 5m to go softer, but the pressure wasn't even the main issue - it felt like she wasn't actually working on my muscles. Somehow she managed to spend an hour pounding on bones I didn't even know could be massaged, including my tailbone and elbows. To be fair, even if she had reduced the pressure, she was still working all the wrong places. The entire massage felt less like bodywork and more like being attacked by a hundred tiny crabs while an angry toddler threw bricks at me. I spent the session counting down the minutes until it was over. Every time she finished one body part, I felt relieved simply because that meant we were closer to being done. All the movements weren't slow and calm; they were quick, frightening, and aggressive. I had hot stones as a part of my treatment, but her carelessness throughout the regular massage portion made me terrified of what the hot stones were going to be like (thankfully, they were a normal hot stone temperature). I was visibly uncomfortable the entire time - wincing, flinching, and even making noises because the massage hurt. I've never spent an entire massage staring at the clock and mentally calculating how much longer I had to survive. Usually massages make you lose track of time. This one made every minute feel like an hour. I left feeling more stressed and sore than when I arrived. I've had many massages over the years, and this was by far the most uncomfortable, painful, and disappointing one I've ever received. The fact that I specifically requested a particular therapist, was told that request would be honored, and then received a completely different therapist only made the experience worse. The attached photo shows a text message they sent me 16m into the appointment, as well as my response when I saw it later, and their unprofessional "ok" response...
