So, I contacted Molly Maid as I knew someone else who used them. First, I had to chase for a response. I emailed and phoned and finally contacted head office before getting a response. The owner then came to my house to quote. He gave me a great pitch about the company, took loads of notes, and when he left I was looking forward to my clean. But then the clean itself was a nightmare to schedule, with it cancelled at the last minute due to staff sickness. To his credit, the owner gave me a discount on my rescheduled clean to make up for the inconvenience. Clean day comes and I was underwhelmed. This was an initial "deep clean" for something in the region of £130 (two people working about 3-3.5 hours) and it was no better than I could have done myself. Even my blinds were left dusty. The less experienced member of the team also knocked a family decoration/heirloom off a shelf, breaking it (I was there when it fell but she picked it up quickly and I didn't want to embarrass her by checking it over in front of her so I didn't notice until much later). Underwhelmed, when the cleaners asked if I would be continuing with the service for the future, I said no, this would be a one off. I had previously planned on this being a monthly clean and had corresponded with the owner to this effect but never received a response to my date suggestions or a follow up after the clean that I assumed they weren't interested in a monthly clean and didn't pursue it. Fast forward to a month later and I got a phone call wanting to narrow down arrival time for the next day. I felt the whole operation was poorly run, with cleaners who weren't necessarily terribly excellent at their jobs.

My husband put in an expensive velvet dress to the Straiton Edinburgh branch. On checking the dress…read morethe woman pointed out some stains and that the hem was down. My husband agreed these and paid for a dry clean and for the hem to be put up. On getting the dress back there was a clear iron mark on the back of it. On returning it was denied that an iron had been anywhere near the dress. Latterly one of the ladies in the shop admitted that a trainee had worked on the dress but had been closely supervised. The impression my husband got was that they couldn't do anything to help and frankly they couldn't have cared less. Asked that we wait for the woman who took the dress in to be back at work. Given the intransigence experienced, there was no point to that. People in these jobs should care about people having a great service, they don't. Avoid this firm if you can.
