Out of all the dryer vent cleaning services inquiries/quotes we conducted as part of our Condo Association (4 total requests made to different vendors), McGinnis seemed to be the most honest about what he would do to perform a good cleaning and not cut corners. It was for that reason we chose McGinnis and we were very pleased. Would definitely use McGinnis Dryer Vent cleaning services again.

I had already requested the property management company send out another vendor, but this behavior is far less than professional. Please note: Mr. McGinnis says he is a single father and I have lived the struggle of single parenthood. This just isn't the way to build a good reputation. Hopefully this will be an opportunity to grow in a positive direction. If zero stars were an option, that is absolutely what I would give this service provider. On Sunday my oven developed a sudden gas leak (odd, since I hadn't used it all weekend). Piedmont gas came out and shut off the gas and instructed me to have the appliance serviced before the gas could be restored. Working through my property management company, McGinnis Dryer and Vent Cleaning was assigned as the vendor to repair the oven. I was instructed that I could call them directly to talk about available time frames, so I did so. I also wanted to verify that they were the correct vendor to repair an oven, given that the business name didn't indicate anything about appliances. When I called, I spoke with a Gary McGinnis, who is the owner of the business. He was very aggressive, and even seemed angry when I asked if he actually serviced appliances. I tried to explain I just didn't understand, based on the company name. He said that he could not come out any earlier than Thursday to look at the oven. I accepted this, although this left me with no means of cooking in my home from Monday through Thursday. On Thursday, when Gary arrived at my house, he walked in, took the serial number of the oven, asked for my signature and got ready to leave. He did not check anything, he didn't look at anything, he just got the serial number. I stopped him to ask questions about what was going on, and he began to get extremely agitated. He informed me that he was ordering a part. He said the part would take 3 to 5 days to be delivered. And he would come sometime the following week to install it. Please note, this is all happening leading up to Thanksgiving, meaning, I will have no means of cooking anything for the Thanksgiving holiday. And I have company coming to town. I understand emergencies, but given That this would be almost 2 weeks from the time the gas leak started, this was not an acceptable solution. I asked if there were ways to get the part faster, and Mr. McGinnis told me there was not because he had to order it through the warehouse the property management company required. He reiterated that and it would take 3 to 5 days to be delivered. I called my property manager, and they immediately approved the part being delivered overnight. When I contacted Mr. McGinnis to let him know this. he began to yell at me and told me that my property management company couldn't tell him when to come provide service. And regardless of whether the part came overnight or not, he still would not come till late next week. Given how aggressive Mr. McGinnis was from the very first interaction to the last, I would not suggest sending him into any home that has women or children present in the home. I would not use this vendor again, under any circumstances. I believe that using him is a serious safety issue!

He had everything he needed to make some necessary adjustments and hauled everything away and left a spotless jobsite when finished. I had been a customer for several years, having my unit serviced twice per year as part of their…read moreregular maintenance package, but after a series of horrible experiences in December 2025-January 2026, I will never work with this company again. 12/12/25- The unit was working perfectly fine before the technician showed up for my regular maintenance check. He was taking longer than normal, and before he left, the technician told me that he accidentally broke my thermostat but don't worry because he installed a new one. A couple hours after he left, the unit stopped working so he had to come back out that same afternoon. He couldn't fix it and by 6:30pm, told me he had to order a part. He then offered to bring heaters over but given the time, I told him I could get them over the weekend as I had to leave for the evening. 12/13/25- The next day (Saturday), I called to ask them status and to drop off the heaters that were offered. There was no mention of a cost for this. After they arrived (it was again after 6:30pm by the time they arrived) and set them up for me, the technician tried to charge me a service fee for coming out. They eventually waived this after I called the office to explain the technician had offered them to me the day before after he was unable to fix my unit after multiple hours and multiple visits on that day, but I find it frustrating I even had to make that call after they were offered. 12/15/25- I called the office on Monday to talk to Joe (recommended by the office team I spoke to on Saturday) about my experience and give feedback on the technician who said he broke my thermostat and then wasn't able to fix the unit that broke later that day. Joe offered to waive items that were already covered by my warranty (my unit is less than 2 years old- installed by them) and admittted he had no idea the technician broke my thermostat. He said once the part that was needed came in, they would come resolve the issue. 12/18- I was without heat for an additional 3 days before the part came in and they showed up on Thursday. They showed up at 5:40pm and when they tried to install the part, there were error codes that the technician couldn't resolve without tech support. Since they showed up so late, tech support was closed and so I had to go another day without heat. 12/19- The next day, they came in and what they thought was the issue the prior day was that the new part was faulty, but now they think it was actually another part of the unit that was broken, which meant they had to order another part. They claimed it would be in on Monday (12/22). That technician also damaged the ladder access to my unit in the attic and said he'd talk to Joe about the damage. When I expressed my frustration with how long the process was taking and how they couldn't diagnose the issue, I was told "coincidences happen" as to why the unit was broken despite multiple visits over a week. 12/22- I called the office Monday when I hadn't heard anything about the part being available. The office team said Joe was out of the office but they would connect with him and then call me back. They also said they had no notes about the technician breaking my ladder but would work with a contractor to get it fixed for me. 12/23- When I didn't receive that call back, I called back the next day and spoke to the same person I talked to the day before. She said Joe is still out of office, there is no update on the part and they wouldn't proactively put me on the schedule, even for after the holidays, until they received the part. January 2026- I did eventually get my heat repaired after the holidays, but this was after multiple visits, multiple delays in ordering parts, and several follow-ups initiated by me as opposed to the company. I also had to follow up with the office multiple times to have them connect me with their preferred contractor to replace the ladder the technician broke. In late January 2026, the unit stopped working again, but I called another company who was able to come out, diagnose the issue and resolve it timely. They even had availability to make appointments on the weekends unlike Air Care. Overall, I am extremely disappointed with the level of service, lack of ability to diagnose the issue, availability of necessary parts, severe delays in receiving ordered parts, and length of time to ultimately restore heat after the unit broke while they were on site for their regular maintenance on 12/12. It should not take over two weeks to resolve an issue, regardless of what it is.

The technician who came out, told me that my blower wasn't working. I explained to him that i have been using my system all winter and the morning that he came out, and all of a sudden, my unit is suddenly broken. He was very offended ,and told me that he could leave and have someone else come out. I agreed and immediately called his company, and they sent his supervisor out. The supervisor checked the system and said that he accidentally disconnected the wire to my blower. If I didn't speak up, they would have ripped me off for thousands. They were apologetic only because they got caught trying to scam me. Use at your own risk.
