We visited a beautifully curated exhibition celebrating Oregon author, poet, and artist Ursula K…read more Le Guin, and it was an absolute delight. The exhibit thoughtfully showcased pieces from her early years, detailed maps of her sci-fi worlds, her actual typewriter, video footage from a Q&A session, and artwork inspired by her writing. One of the most memorable features was a giant "tree" display filled with her books where visitors could actually sit down and read -- such a creative and inviting touch. Admission was free, with donations accepted, which makes this an easy and worthwhile stop for anyone even remotely interested in literature, art, or science fiction. The space itself is stunning and clearly designed with art exhibitions in mind. The location is also convenient -- just down the road is Denver Ave with several restaurants if you want to grab a bite before or after your visit. Parking is limited, but there is some street parking available nearby. They also have a small gift shop, gender-neutral restrooms, and very friendly staff who made the experience even more welcoming. Overall, a thoughtfully designed and inspiring exhibit in a lovely space. Highly recommended.

To wrap up the final week of my critical art theories class at Portland State, I visited the…read moreBiennial to connect the ideas explored this past Spring. As I enter, the first thing I see are three questions in red: What was the price our ancestors paid to call this nation home? What did they sacrifice for the American dream? What was promised to them for their blood, sweat, and tears? As I abstracted my time with DeepTime Collective's wall of many clocks, I walked along various artworks that caught my eye. Gabby Severson, Jaleesa Johnston, and Ebony Frison were a few of my favorite artists from this show. The artworks are powerful and imposing. They catch you and keep you in. The artists speak from places of nostalgia, memory and lived experience. However, I couldn't help to think that the works respond to questions that have already been in conversation for a while. 250 years, who doesn't know what the price is? And so, as Bayo Akomolafe has asked about the Black Lives Matter movement, to whom would this matter to? This certainly is nothing new for marginalized folks who live with those questions everyday, whose ancestral histories on this stolen land is defined by sacrifice, blood, sweat and tears. From struggle to preservation to perseverance, the artworks are analyzed by folks who beg for answers to questions they created.

I had heard that the recent Valentine's Day snow had impacted many florists in the area, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to get anything delivered quickly. Kelly was the first florist to actually pick up the phone, and she was very accommodating. She told me she would find a way to pull together something tasteful for our friend. On Monday morning, she sent me the attached photo and confirmed delivery. I couldn't be happier -- perfect arrangement for a widower. Also, the contact-free Venmo payment is super convenient. I'll definitely be looking Kelly up next time I need flowers delivered in the local area. Highly recommend.

For starters, there was several delays in shipping, and when I reached out I heard back that things would be shortly shipping out. Multiple times this went back and forth with my needing reach back out to follow up and getting told a date that wasn't actually when they shipped. When they came, the company did provide a few extra pieces to account for the wait which was super nice and I appreciated. I did end up placing another order hoping maybe it was just a one time unfortunate problem. The same thing happened. Repeated delays in shipping, multiple months past when I was told things would be moving along and overall just a bummer to be told something and have that deadline be missed. I get it's a small business, and I placed an order that was to build out a set of bowls and plates so I understand the time it takes to create these pieces. The biggest issue was the lack of communication unless I had prompted it and the inability to provide an accurate timeline on the items purchased. Getting to the actual pieces--for the price, I would not recommend. The glaze crazed meaning they are no longer food safe. Huge investment for a product that was no longer useable within a few months.

I really feel like I'm still dreaming. I honestly feel that the words thank you are not enough to show you the depth of our gratitude for bringing to reality what I thought would only ever be possible in my wildest fairy tale dreams. It was out of this world and more. You and CBL team are not only amazing talented and incredible at what you do. I have absolutely loved bonding with you and experiencing this journey together. You and CBL team took this wedding to another level I didn't even dream was possible. Yes, I know what i wanted (everything) lol but not in a million years did I think I was going to be what it was. I know that it wasn't always easy, but you had a solution to everything I told you what I wanted, you listened and brought me better, you were there every step and through every issue every time constraint, even with no sleep you still pushed my dreams to the next level and then some more. Thank you for taking this ride and for being there for me though this crazy roller coaster. Now I'm in tears again!! Haha I wonder how I will ever repay you.

I highly recommend her and her team! We hired her for day of services but she went so above and beyond that and for that I am truly grateful. We had so many issues with vendors two weeks before the wedding and she worked tirelessly to get them all resolved before the wedding. It is because of her that I fully enjoyed my wedding day and was not worried about a thing. I think she is such an awesome person, she has such a chill demeanor and helped me to laugh at times when I thought my head was going to explode. She also stepped up and handled all the situations that I didn't want to be involved in. I have to say that originally we were super hesitant about spending money on wedding planning services given that everything seemed to cost more during wedding planning than we anticipated and I really thought I could handle it, but let me just tell you how wrong I was. There is no way my wedding would have been as amazing as it was if I did not hire Nadia. I am so grateful for her and everything she does, she is seriously the BEST!!!!!
