The name itself lends you to believe it's priced to be of value, but that's their own opinion of value. This is a nicely organized store, it's big. Oddly situated by 13 Mile and Coolidge. The store is the same setup mostly as all CVS. It's easy to find what I am looking for, be it beauty products, some food essentials, greeting cards or vitamins. I told her that I would bypass my insurance and pay cash like I have been doing for the last 15 weeks and she stated that it was a violation of CVS policy to allow me to pay cash and bypass insurance. I explained that it was my legal right to pay cash for my medication and not my insurance and she stated that CVS policy supersedes Federal law. I recorded the conversation. I have called CVS customer service and the executive pharmacist. Steven returned my call and said they were going to escalate it. I will be without medication starting tomorrow. I will no longer use this Pharmacy. I will find a mom and Pop local pharmacy and start using them for my medication. When a pharmacist tells you that policy supersedes law, there is a legal issue. According to the law, I can pay cash for my prescriptions.

So I was referred to this place via my caseworker at local agency…read more I called and spoke with some lady, no name given, and told her about the referral and got no response, so I asked if she understood what I meant and she coldly told me "we're not allowed to talk about what organizations they work with". I thought it was a little weird but approved them moving my prescriptions from another pharmacy. Weeks went by with no courtesy call to let me know if everything was moved over and ok. So I called asking about getting an important prescription refilled and was told that I couldn't because my insurance was canceled. I explained that I get this one covered by a state program and that it's supposed to be free. I felt like I was talking to a wall. I told her that I just wasn't feeling comfortable with the way things were going and asked to have everything sent back to the original pharmacy. She said that she couldn't do it and I needed to have them contact her. Called the original one immediately and explained the situation and was relieved that they would get everything back and that I could get my refill as soon as possible. The last straw for me with Walgreen's was when I went to pick up a prescription refill and waited 20 MINUTES at the pharmacy windows while FOUR WORKERS behind the counter walked past me without even looking at me. Big corporate pharmacies don't care about their customers. I had a similar experience years earlier with CVS. When I call ZMC, I can request to speak to a pharmacist without going through a long telephone menu and long wait on hold. At the big pharmacies all these extra steps are designed to protect pharmacy employees from being bothered by customers. ZMC doesn't price gouge - they try to give you the lowest price and if you don't have insurance they'll try to help you find resources that can get you the lowest price. There's never a wait at ZMC - if my doctor sends over a new Rx ZMC fills it within an hour and texts me to let me know it's ready. Counter service is instant, too. At MOST there's only ever been one person in front of me. I appreciate the prompt service because I'm usually in a hurry. They also have a nice selection of greeting cards, gifts, and other products customers might want. ZMC is the solution to giant corporate greed and I hope they always keep their business small.
