Small shop easy to miss! This is what to look for directly across Cedars. Meter parking on 3rd, free around corner or 1 slot right here.

i used to live a few blocks away and would come here all the time with the great stuff i found at nordstrom rack and marshalls (varvatos, ted baker) and my neimans or saks stuff (prada, armani, blah blah blah) that i wanted to have fit jusssst a little tighter and righter! good stuff that i wanted to trust to a trained and good eye. the store looks like nothing - a hole in the wall, like those surprising gastronomic sushi joints in the worst corner strip joints. but like those sushi spots - this very unassuming shop is out of this world. pasha is the owner and tailor and he knows what he is doing. you can tell he has that old-world style skill from years of experience. he knows cut, drape, finish, construction... you can even tell this as he pins the clothing on you he knows how the piece is supposed to fit and fall. and... when he actually does the work, the attention to detail, the fit and finish, is always precise. supremely tailored. couture quality. before i found pasha i'd go to montalvo on montana in santa monica (whew... far out!) or murats in bevely hills where they also do great stuff. but the work here at classical is absolutely on par- and not nearly as pricey. i don't even live that close to pasha anymore - about 6 miles which is 30 minutes even zipping across fountain. but i will still make the trek here with my good pieces, and it's worth it. two things to note.. - alterations take time here, and they are always busy. very small shop. even for something as basic as hemming pants, i expect to come back in a week. - there is a place on doheny that if you google this name, you may end up there. that doheny place is "Classical & Modern Tailoring" (vs pasha which is Classical Modern **ART** Tailoring) and is a stones throw and walking distance. if you want to come to pasha - don't get the two confused!!! pasha is on 3rd, across cedars sinai, in a very small shop! so anyway my advice would be come to the right tailoring place, don't come here in a rush because he always has work to do. but definitely do come here for superb tailoring and work. this my thinking... ; - )

I have done alterations with a few other tailors in the area but Pasha is very straightforward and doesn't overcharge.

It features a purposefully crinkly texture, and the blend is an odd one. Doing some research, I've noticed both of the fabrics for the jacket require specific care to avoid damage or shrinkage. The liner also features viscose which is also susceptible to shrinkage. And it had that used clothing stench combined with some body odor from the prior owner in the pits area. The dress shirt had a few stains around the collar but some fabric ironing spray stains from a hotel stay. Suffice it to say, both items were needing some TLC but need the right TLC. I gave this spot a go because of the reviews and hoped that they'd accept both items but also handle them with the necessary care. I made a big point about the blend when dropping off, and the guy at the counter kindly took it and asked the cleaner what they could do. After a quick evaluation and pricing, I felt pretty confident they'd do the job. And voila! Not only were both items cleaned of any smell and stains, but they came back in like - new condition. The velvet / velour jacket retained its unique properties while also feeling 10x more soft than when I dropped it off. And the dress shirt was saved from what I feared were unsalvageable stains. They also had the items ready in a little less than 24 hours. It was one the pricier side, but not as crazy as some other spots I checked out. Highly recommend if you have any cherished (but delicate) items you want clean without the worry of them being damaged.

5 Stars - Lifesaver Before the Emmys!…read more I came to LA for the Emmys and the night before my flight, I tried on my dress--only to realize it was way too big. I had lost a bit of weight and the fit was completely off. The dress looked boxy and frumpy, and I honestly started to panic. Thankfully, I found Lina--the amazing owner of Alterations Et Al in West Hollywood. I reached out and she invited me to bring the dress in to see what could be done. She was so warm, kind, and professional--and even with the tight turnaround, she agreed to take on the rush job. The dress needed a lot of work, but when I picked it up, it fit like a glove. It looked flawless and felt like it had been custom-made for me. Lina is not only incredibly talented, but also fast, detail-oriented, and just lovely to work with. So many people told me I looked beautiful that night--and a few even said I was one of the best dressed. That's 100% thanks to Lina's amazing work. She truly saved the day, and I'll be forever grateful. (Sharing a few pics here so you can see her magic!)

Usually I am in no rush for alterations from Lina but I had an emergency red carpet event that I needed a dress tailored in 1 week and Lina came through! Although I moved across town, I still drive to West Hollywood because I don't allow anyone else to touch my clothes other than Lina. Great prices and great quality of work!

I took my bridesmaid dress here about a month before the wedding. Tried it on, pinned me up, and…read moresaid it would be done in a week (the following Monday). On Monday I started calling to see if they could ship my dress to me (I had last minute travel to Arizona). Every time I called they asked for my name and number and said they would call me back to let me know. I called almost every day that week after my dress was supposed to be ready until finally I decided to send my friend over to just pick it up for me and ship it himself. When he arrived, he was told the dress was not ready. He said they had a question for me before he could start. Mind you, I had called every day- giving them my information, and nobody had any questions for me, and nobody told me my dress hadn't been started. And nobody tried to call me to ask questions. They were waiting for me to show up to pick the dress up to tell me they hadn't started. Unbelievable! At this point, it's about 1 week before the wedding. The owner apologized to me and said they would have it done by Sunday (this was Friday night) and would ship it to me overnight so I would have it by Tuesday for the wedding on Friday. It was shipped a day later than that, so I didn't receive the dress until Thursday! I had to wait in AZ (extending my trip) until it came and missed the rehearsal dinner & welcome party. You guys, this dress was SO simple. It ended up being tight on my body and loose on top so my boobs were a problem the entire time. I've never had an experience like this where something that is normally so easy and simple became an absolute nightmare. Bill ended up being $130. $75 for dress +shipping

I've gone to this tailor multiple times because the location is convenient. He does overcharge, but…read morein the past the work was at least acceptable--so I kept going. That changed with my most recent suit. The alterations were objectively bad. The jacket was visibly lopsided: one sleeve was about an inch longer than the other, one side of the jacket hadn't been taken in at all, and the pants were tapered far too tight. To make matters worse, the elbow seam hadn't even been sewn properly. I had already paid, so when I pointed all this out, I was told to bring the suit back and they'd "take care of it." Fine. Mistakes happen--what matters is how they're handled. When I picked up the suit after the supposed fixes, I was charged again for correcting their own mistakes. That's the real issue here. They do not stand behind their work. If the outcome is wrong, the responsibility is pushed back onto the customer. That's poor craftsmanship paired with poor ethics. You don't pay for an attempt--you pay for a finished result. If a tailor won't honor the quality of their own work, that's a red flag. I'd strongly recommend finding another tailor, and explicitly asking upfront whether they stand behind their alterations. These guys do not.

He worked on many expensive pieces I have, suits, blazers, pants, jackets, you name it, and in a variety of fabrics including leather and Suede. At this place, you get what you pay for and that is impeccable work. I highly recommend Angel. Don't listen to what is being said from years ago and don't be fooled at how the place looks. Give them a shot. I highly recommend them.
