But after several years of sun exposure (we do have all weather covers for it, but UV damage still happens) it was time to get the cushions and canopy re-covered. A friend of mine that restores classic cars was showing off a project that he had re-upholstered, so I asked him for his guy's contact info. I called and spoke to Jose, the owner, who said yes he takes in my type of work. We wanted upgraded foam and slipcovers along with the re-covered cushions and pillows. I brought in a decorative canvas that I had previously purchased. I chose blue for the reupholstering and canopy, and told Jose to choose a good coordinate fabric for the slipcovers-if more yardage was needed. I just got the order back, and it is Bee-Yoo-Tee-Full!! The new extra dense foam is so comfortable (the original was about 3" thick and you could still feel the base of the chaise through it) and the decorative covers are so pretty! They will also protect the cushions from excess UV, and be easily cleaned. The fabric of the canopy is extra dense, and will provide good shade for sitting and reading or using a tablet. I cannot say enough good things about how happy I am with the work provided by Jose, at Pacific Upholstery! Do note that if you go the the shop, parking is tight. You can park in front of the buildings on either side of the access gate but don't park across the street. The tenants there politely let me know it was not appreciated.

Although it took me a while to make a decision, I eventually contacted him several months later to get the process started. His quote to me was very competitive, and even a little bit better, than other companies. And to make it even better, he included free pickup and delivery. We agreed on a pick-up time, and he was here on time with plenty of options for me to choose from as far as the material to be used. He quoted a drop off time of completion, and met that on time! I reached out to Furniture & Repairs for a couple or recliners that my grandmother needed repaired. They were quick with a response through Yelp and even followed up with me directly before reaching out to my grandmother. Not only were they thorough in explaining the estimate and repair process, they followed up multiple times to try and schedule an appointment -- only wish grandma would have put in her hearing aids a little sooner to answer their calls! Ultimately, she decided that purchasing a new vinyl recliner might be more frugal but is looking forward to having them come out and repair a leather recliner once she's got her new furniture delivered. I called them and asked what happened about scheduling an appointment. They said they forgot and were too busy. I finally scheduled an appointment. Two days later the same receptionist called me and said "do you wanna schedule an appointment? I said "no", I'm already scheduled and said I'm scheduled in 3 days. The day of my appointment, the tech said they were going to arrive at 2 PM. They did not arrive till 3:30 PM. After all that, they did not fix the problem. I will never use this company again.
