Thank You Linda!…read more I've recently been planning a destination wedding and working with a woman, who will remain nameless, across the street from Lakewood Travel, at Landfall. I've booked all my vacations (one a year) with Landfall and it was like pulling teeth to get her to do anything for me. She has the worst follow through ever, but I felt kinda obligated to her...I don't know why, I always came in knowing where I wanted to go because I did my own research, all she had to do was book. I like to have an actual contact as opposed to booking on line. If my flight gets cancelled or I miss it (happened before), someone will take care of it. Anyways, I finally got really sick of dealing with her and I went across the street to Lakewood Travel. I met Linda on Monday and booked the trip on Tuesday. She's great! I know there's not much of a demand for travel agents and most book on line. When I was searching for one, reviews are virtually nonexistent...even on Angie's List. No one may ever read this, but I needed to do my part and give props where props are due.

We were encouraged to bring our own drinks (alcohol or otherwise). The tour covered much of downtown and provided some history with a comedian as the tour guide. We also had some good laughs. Truth be told the tour is very much focused on drinking. Half way through the tour we stopped at a bar and were able to bring drinks back on the bus. Seating was comfortable and it was nice to see an old school bus put to good use. On a nice day the tour is a good way to see the city.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and seemed very invested in the history of the castle. Oh! My! The castle is rich in history. The Victorian mansion is ornate and makes you feel the weight of its history. The ornate stonework, hidden passageways, and eerie ambiance all add to its mysterious charm. It's definitely picture-worthy whether you're walking by or walking in. The event organizers were friendly. I was at the castle for pop art show held by Zack Webb. It was so fun to see the juxtaposition of history/antique and bright pop art. There was no guided tour, just a hang out in the main area of the house, and basement lounge (both very cool). If you're into history, architecture, or the paranormal, Franklin Castle is a must-see. Although I didn't see or feel any ghosts. It's equal parts creepy and captivating. Whether you're a Clevelander or a visitor, go see it!
