I took my first class at Classic Pilates with Benjamin and it was the best pilates class I've ever had. When I arrived, Benjamin was quick to welcome me and introduce me to another person in the class who helped me set up my equipment. I decided to try the Climb The Tower class and I loved it. Benjamin focused on targeting specific muscle groups and making sure that everyone had proper form. He also helped us be mindful of our breathing and lengthening our bodies. Since it was also my first time doing a class here and using the Tower, he made sure to guide me through any movements I wasn't familiar with and how to best use the equipment. I found this class both challenging and relaxing for my body. I definitely felt sore the next day but in the best way possible. I really liked that the class was small (only 3 people) which allowed for a more personalized workout. The studio is small but very beautiful with large windows that allows for natural lighting to come in. The Turtle Creek studio is also walking distance from where I live so it's the perfect Pilates studio for me! I'll definitely be coming back for more Climb The Tower classes and to try their reformer classes as well. read more

I took my first pilates class this morning with Rachel. It was called the Clara beginner's class and I really felt the burn! Pros: 1. First class is FREE 2. Gorgeous studio- clean, bright, pretty 3. Damp scented towels for after class to clean off 4. Little mini cupcakes for after class! I'm sure this is not a normal occurrence- but it was a great treat! 5. Small class size 6. Pretty view from floor to ceiling windows 7. Friendly and welcoming- remembered my name! 8. And of course- a great workout Cons: 1. After 1st month discounted package, it's pricey. It would be great if there was a young-person discount to help poor little 20-somethings who unfortunately graduated during the worst economy EVER! This is hands down THE BEST pilates studio in Dallas. Classic Pilates keeps the classes very small (3-6 people if you're not in a private) to ensure you are receiving the best and most personalized training. Other studios try to pack as many people as they can in every class which can lead to poor form and even injuries. Each instructor is classically trained and has 5+ years of experience. Classic pilates is the best studio to learn and practice if your goal is to perfect your form and achieve the best results. Personally, my favorite instructors are JoAnn, Benjamin, and Haley. I am wincing in pain as I type this review. That's how hard core of a work out this place gives you. The bright and happy space is incredibly inviting with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the lovely, manicured lawns of Cedar Springs and Arlington Hall. For first timers, like myself, there was no sense of exclusivity or annoyance that they had to deal with a newbie. They were excited to have me and asked all the right questions - do I have any injuries, had did I hear about them, would you like some water? Listening in other girls' conversation I quickly realized this a place where friendships are born. The fact that these ladies were regulars was a positive indication that the classes were effective and fun, and more importantly that they looked forward to coming back. It takes a lot to want to return to a class that makes every muscle in your body go into spasm. The instructor was so gentle, yet managed to simultaneously kick our ass. In retrospect, we didn't do a lot of reps anything, but I still feel the burn. It makes you realize that it's not how long you work out, it's what you do when you work out. She was definitely familiar with the study of Pilates and what areas of the female body to work on. Starting from the arms all the way to a wrap-up stretch, I never once thought I couldn't do it. Not to say it was easy, but I never felt defeated. She was relate-able and easy going, which provided a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal when you're ass and thighs are burning. I will return! I heard about this through DailyCandy and was lucky enough to get in on a free class during their opening week. I took a barre class on a Sunday afternoon. The instructor was not one of their normal instructors because they had a special person in teaching barre to instructors around Dallas so I can't tell you how the normal instructors are at teaching classes but they were sweet and one was in the class and looked like she knew what she was doing. The space is bright and clean but has a warm, contemporary feeling. One of the owners said they are running a special - $30 for a week unlimited or your first month for $65 unlimited which I think is 1/2 off so this is the time to sign up and make this cute little place your new workout home...or at least an addition to your workouts. They offer several types of classes and times and you can sign up via their website. I think they are still playing around with what works best for their clients since they are new. They don't have showers but they have cold lavender damp towels that were refreshing. I'd recommend checking them out. Park behind the building. It took me a sec to figure out where to park but once you do it was super easy! The building was locked but the box outside can dial them and they buzz you in. read more

Classic Pilates is in a real nice area of Dallas near Turtle Creek. It's actually over where Equinox is located. The studio is very cozy is very adequate is bright and sunny. Although sometimes it was all emasculating to be doing vbarre stretches while looking out and seeing the construction workers across the street checking out the class while on their lunch break. Facilities/Layout It looks like any pilates/yoga studio it's very good very clean they have fruit infused water and it's free. I saw some people grab a banana or some other fruit after class and I think think it was all free too so that's a really nice touch. I actually had got the chance to have some puréed juice water after a class it was very refreshing and light so it's nice that they provide those little perks. Pilates I've done Pilates over the years, so this was not a totally new experience for me. Once again I'm the only man in the class because it's at noon and all the guys are working and all the women are taking a lunch break or are not working, I don't know. I will say though that this studio offers a mens only reformer class. I'm very much interested in this, but since it wouldn't have been free I decided against it. ...Though I may come back and actually pay for that experience, it's that cool of an idea to me. Although I've done quite a bit of pilates over the years, I am by no means a master so I don't feel very capable of giving a in-depth critique of the instructor. I will say that it was a very difficult workout for me, but it seemed fairly doable for the other members, two of which were doing it for their first time ever. So perhaps I'm just struggling because I'm an inflexible dude. Vbarre Actually got to meet the instructor here who invented Vbarre. She was very nice and pretty much what'd you'd imagine: outgoing personality fit into a dancer's body. She was very friendly. In fact, all the instructors were very friendly. Vbarre is some variation on the Barre method. I think it has more cardio? I'm not sure. I'm interested in the core work because I'm recovering from treating various injuries in my upper/mid/lower back. With my back muscles suddenly able to (but not knowing how to) work correctly, I have to make sure to develop proper mechanics from the get-go. Thus my ability to, uh, ignore the fact that vbarre seems to be designed for women who want to look like a ballerina. The class felt similar to a pilates class in that you really work on posture. However, the movements definitely felt more ballet-inspired. I haven't heard "second position" in almost thirty years (my mother put me in ballet class when I was young, don't judge). So there was a bit of nostalgia for me. For some exercises we used a mat that allows for sliding our feet. This was used for things like mountain climbers, which I imagine is an example of how Vbarre differentiates from traditional barre. I found these movements to be much easier than in Pilates, probably because most of them don't reveal my tight hamstrings like trying to hold an L position. read more

I'm a little biased seeing as how this is the ONLY pilates studio I have gone to in Dallas, but taking a quick tour around the internet, I don't really see a reason to make a visit any of the others. Plus this is an easy bike ride from my place. The facilities are clean, bright, functional, and just plain pretty - great views of the park and all. Morning mat classes are small (like 5 peeps on average), weekend classes can be get pretty packed. So register to save your spot! Either way, you will get your sweat on. Most of the class will enjoy a cup of fruit flavored water and a cold towel after class (but I'm usually mad dashing to make it into work on time...but ONE OF THESE DAYS!) Cost wise, they're pretty competitive with the other studios (beginning packages and otherwise). But I feel like the level of attention you receive from the instructors is Classic Pilates' advantage. I like that their class sizes are generally smaller and the instructors really keep an eye on your form - which is key. I also really like how easy it is to register for mat classes online from their website. I'm still a pilates newbie, but I'm working on changing my status. Currently going in 3 times a week...on week three. My abs are still sore...it hurts to sneeze! *boohoo* read more

Classic Pilates is a beautiful new studio with a great location right behind Lee Park. I have been taking private sessions with Joann for a year and a half and dropped from size 6 to size 2 so clearly I am going to give her a 5 star review! Anyway, the atmosphere is very relaxed in a light, bright space. Joann will make you work hard as hell but she will keep you laughing at the same time. Rachel is also an awesome instructor. Conveniently located off of Lee Parkway is the most fantastic Pilates studio I've ever been to. And believe me; I've visited quite a few. One of the reasons I knew I'd love this place is because of the people that own it. I've been going to Rachael on and off for a few years now & as someone that gets bored easily, I've loved every session with her. Guess that's why I keep coming back! She has truly helped me change my body beyond any other workout/weight/infomercial workout system/spinning/etc. regimen I've ever "dabbled" in. And I've tried them all. Rachael is an amazing instructor. With over 10 years of experience under her belt, she has mastered the perfect balance of welcoming a newbie with helpful cues as well as fine tuning the more experienced folks. I can confidently say that I learn something new from every session or class of hers. Since starting at CP last month, I can already tell a difference in my posture and my clothes are fitting better. Earlier today, no joke, someone told me that my arms looked toned. I've wanted to write a review for CP and after today's comment; I figured it was time! I've had the pleasure of getting to know Joann as well & I can't wait to go to her Barre class. I've heard amazing things about it from others that go to the studio. I haven't yet worked out with her, but I've watched her train. She's awesome and like Rachael, they both have that "magical" welcoming personality. That's a pretty unique quality to have. What I love about both of these women is that their passion for Pilates & care for their clients is genuine. Their very welcoming studio is gorgeous. You can tell that they carefully selected this place. Every room offers beautiful views of the trees along Lee Park. The place is bright, clean & airy with a very comfortable feel. Oh and another great part? Lavender cold towels after a class. Seriously? They didn't miss a beat. What I love the most about this place is the welcoming vibe. It's rare to find an unintimidating place that is serious about results. I have never been a fan of working out because I get impatient and bored. I want immediate results (like everyone else) and I haven't found the perfect place to call my workout home. That is, until now. This place is a true gem. I attended the V Barre class with Stephanie and was underwhelmed. I was really disappointed with how tiny the studio space is. Note: if you're new to the class get to the front of the room so you know what the heck is going on! I set up shop towards that back had a difficult time seeing the instructor to know what we were doing as the room is set up "shot gun"style, very narrow and long. I didn't find the class to be overly challenging and walked away feeling like I didn't get much out of it. I will likely be back to try mat Pilates or the reformer classes, though! read more

I LOVE Classic Pilates. I have been coming for about 6 months now. It has been amazing seeing a transformation - especially after the studio's 30 day challenge. Joe was right, after 30 sessions I felt like I had a new body. Over time you will tone and lengthen BUT I think the main difference, or what my "new body" means is how I am much more conscious about my posture and the engagement of my muscles through my entire day. There is a wide array of classes and teachers throughout the day M-F, some options Saturday and Sunday. I really enjoy each instructor and each class is a challenge! I have loved seeing each teacher evolve, their classes are different than the previous. I know I can expect variety, which keeps working out fun. This is the first workout I have done since Dance that I look forward to doing (almost) every day and can look forward to results. The studio is so welcoming and a very positive/encouraging atmosphere! read more

I've been taking classes with Joann for over a year. She is wonderful! She truly loves teaching and helping people accomplish their fitness goals and it shows. Pilates has definitely helped me develop a stronger core and upper body strength. My clothes are all fitting better and I am more cognizant about my posture. Rachel is also just wonderful. I've taken several mat classes with her. She has an infectious energy and her cues are SO wonderful. She is patient and helps you make the little adjustments in your form that allow you to get the most out of the class. If a person could take a combination of mat and reformer three times a week, they would be AMAZED at the results. The studio itself is lovely - a clean airy space, with a warm appeal. For the past 25 years of my life, I have avoided Pilates for various reasons (being active in MANY strenuous sports like gymnastics, softball, and diving is one of them). I finally sucked it up this spring, because it's been a while since I've done anything intense and I figured it's time to buckle down. I chose this place because one of the studio's instructors has also been my professor for two semestres in a row. I am writing this review, however, because Class Pilates has FAR exceeded my expectations, even after having come to read the Yelp reviews before heading to the studio. The studio is at least as gorgeous as the pictures, and I had no idea how wonderful real sunlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows would be during my semi-private. I was there yesterday, so I don't know how the studio is like when it's bustling or during the work week, but the windows were not unnerving at all, because only one person walked by that I could see the whole time I was there. Nobody leered in the windows like we were some department store display. The equipment is amazing, spotless, and really neat! I don't know how to describe them, but the equipment looks brand new and everything operates smoothly. The equipment at this studio are the perfect complement to the heaps of mat work I've been doing this spring, and I can't wait to have monies so I can buy a package of private lessons, and I'm excited to see what classes there look like! read more

I wrote a review in 2011 (and yes, I'm still loving Pilates with the incredible instructors at Classic Pilates). I try to do mat classes a couple days a week and a semi-private reformer once a week.... it's amazing. I am in the best shape of my life and I'm in my mid-40's! The best thing about the instructors is their expertise and knowledge. I have had knee surgery, foot surgery and wrist/elbow surgery and the instructors are always willing to accommodate and give me modifications to an exercise if I'm having trouble. If you can't do a specific pose, you don't have to do it; they encourage you to listen to your body, which is key in eliminating potential injuries while working out. The studio is clean, bright, airy and welcoming and the equipment is all top notch and well maintained. A wonderful studio with a very nice welcoming clientele and instructors. read more

Just finished my first Pilates class at Classic Pilates and it was fabulous. I'm a total beginner, but the instructors took their time with me and made sure I got the personal attention and training I needed. They're about to renovate a portion of the studio to be more open, but it works great as it is now. The current studio is bright, modern and airy. It's the perfect place to work on your Pilates. The instructors were really great. They provided each person in the class with great instruction. This personalized attention is great for someone just starting to practice Pilates as well as those looking to perfect their form. I'm planning to return soon. It's a fabulous workout in a clean, bright studio with great instructors who give the guidance you need. I'd recommend to anyone. read more

I have now attended five classes at Classic Pilates - all mat classes at beginner or intermediate level - and I have to say I won't be back. I am new to Texas and am not sure if it's just a Texas thing or what, but I felt like an outsider at CP. I'd say you have a 50% chance of being acknowledged when you walk in the place. Best example of how socially awkward this was: There was the class I attended where 6 participants showed up. Two of us were told, "Well, it's usually just us so follow along as best you can" and the class was amped up from intermediate to what I would consider advanced. Both me and the other non-usual attender did our best but we really couldn't keep up. I left feeling frustrated that the two of us had spent a fair amount of the class stretching or doing leglifts or 100s instead of some advanced move that the regulars were doing. It was embarrassing to be unable to do so much of an intermediate class. That is to say, I *signed up for and expected* an intermediate class. I didn't want to drag people back by attending an advanced class. So in all, it was embarrassing. Then there was the class where the teacher spent a good 2-3 minutes (which believe me, is a long time if you are holding a position with your arms in the air and your tailbone tucked and your abs pulled in and up, waiting for direction on what to do) talking about her gymnastics background and the real way Bela Karolyi or whoever he is, runs his gym. What's got two thumbs (in the air, btw) and doesn't give a carp about some gymnastics coach? THIS GUY. All in all, I think CP is a welcoming atmosphere for people who are already in solidly good shape and well-versed in pilates and without any injury or disabilities. The rest of us nerds need to go back to the Mathletes and the Chess Club. Or do what I did, and buy yourself a pilates reformer and DVDs off of Craigslist for less than a month's cost of unlimited classes at CP. read more

These instructors are absolutely AMAZING. You get an INTENSE workout that will leave you dripping with sweat. The equipment is top notch and the instruction can not be beat. I have casually taken Pilates classes before but nothing on the level that Classic Pilates offers. I realized during the first class that I didn't know what I was doing. By making subtle changes in your alignment, foot placement or just the visuals they provide take you to a new level in your practice. I had a discount voucher and went about 3x-4x a week for a month. My legs and core were getting so strong and I saw the muscles beginning to emerge. My feet were even looking skinny. Lol. Love this place and all the instructors. I'm a baller on a budget so unfortunately am unable to join the studio but plan to drop in a few times per month so I won't completely forget what I have been taught. read more

As a sucker for discounted workout methods, I purchased the Buy With Me deal for 5 sessions at Classic Pilates. They drew me in with their advertisement of Barre Amped classes. Barre Method pilates has been on my to-do list for quite awhile, but I never wanted to cough up the big bucks to check it out. Plus, this place was near my house! Done and done. My deal is good for any class, but so far I have gone to 3 Barre Amped classes which I am now obsessed with! I consider myself to be in shape, but this class leaves my legs shaking and abs crying! Plus, I enjoy feeling like a ballerina when doing work against the barre. :) The class starts off with arm work using light weights, followed by leg, butt, and ab work using the barre and mat. The class is instructed to the beat of popular music, which I enjoy! It's better than soft calming music I have done pilates to in the past. The 3 classes I have attended have been taught by Brandy and she is a great teacher with a bubbly personality and makes the class fun! It brings me back to the days of taking dance class as a teenager! The studio is very trendy looking and is located at the bottom of an office building with a garage connected. I probably drove past it several times in the past without realizing it was there! I am considering purchasing some additional classes after my 5 class pass is complete. It is a great addition to my work out regime! read more

I purchased a one-month unlimited pass to Classic Pilates through the Mind Body Fitness app. I absolutely fell in love with this studio after taking my first class, and ended up going to about 5 classes per week for the remainder of the month! The teachers are amazing and the workout is intense! It has a small "boutique" feel, with about 5-10 people per class, so you never feel lost or squished in the class. I have tried other studios, and ultimately (impulsively) locked myself into a year long contract with Equinox, so I can no longer find time for both -- but I seriously miss this studio a lot, and wish I really would have stayed!! I know there are several options in Dallas, but I promise you will love Classic Pilates the most! read more

I am a Pilates convert. I had back surgery in August, started coming to Classic Pilates in December and it has totally changed my body as well as decreased the pain. Great instructors and every class is a little different so I never get bored. Welcoming atmosphere and the teachers are great about modifying exercises for beginners. I absolutely love this place. If you're looking for an invigorating workout that makes you sore in places you didn't know exist, this is the place to go. Joann Cucurrullo always changes it up. If you are into other types of exercise, you should try Pilates at Classic to help elongate your muscles. I've been attending Pilates mat and Vbarre classes here regularly for the last three months. I was a little nervous starting classes by myself, but all of the instructors are so friendly and helpful, you're immediately at ease! The classes are always challenging even after a few months of attending. If you can get into a Pilates blend class with Katrina, DO IT! You'll be sore in a good way! Wow, classic pilates has got it right. They have every thing to meet your pilates needs 3 separate rooms that include reformers, towers, and cadillac. The facility is immaculate and well organized. Joann and her staff are so warm and welcoming that it feels like you've known them for years. They are knowledgeable and so helpful.
