I stopped by Classic Game Junkie today with my fiancé because he had Gameboy games and a version 1 Nintendo Switch that he no longer plays to trade in. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly by several employees. They asked us to head to one of the counters in the back and they would assist us shortly. They were so enthusiastic about the Gameboy games my fiancé had. It was nice to see them get excited about games that were popular in the 90's and 2000's. We overheard them saying that they typically match whatever GameStop is currently offering in store credit. To our surprise, they gave my fiancé more than GameStop would have if we would've gone there. This is why it matters to support small businesses. Strong selection, very nice display and set up. They have prices listed online on their digital store. But when I went in, all the prices were about 30% (or more) than their posted prices. When I asked them if they honor their online listing price, they said the price on the sticker is the price. On principal alone, I put everything away and walked out. read more

I had my old PlayStation 2 slim repaired here for a laser not reading. They restored my console perfectly and I would recommend them for future business. The wait I will admit was rather long but it was really worth it in the end as they had proper communication with me. read more

Very phenomenal spot for repairs! I came in with a Game Boy Advance SP that I thought had no hope whatsoever, but Classic Game Junkie was able to resurrect the console through very creative means, making it so I can play it again! You can bring your played games and consoles here as well as any other unique special nick nacks, theyll evaluate and give you cash or store credit. Everybody in the store was incredibly nice and they have a super wide selection of games and game systems, including some rare stuff like the Virtual Boy and the Sega Master System! They also have an arcade where you pay for a wristband to play all you want, which also has a great selection of classics and super modern stuff. Their website has pics, you should definitely check them out especially the game boy door they have. I digress. I found a good amount of GBA games there and will soon be purchasing a GBA SP. Every Positive review on this store references the wide collection of games they have, and to be honest this is very true. If you're into the retro gaming scene and looking for a place to see one of the larger collections of gaming history this is the place to go. However the buisness these people run is no different than that of scalpers online who try to profit off of uneducated buyers/sellers. They will try to severley underpay you for any game you try to sell asking for 50+ percent seller comission on any fair price no matter how valuable the games are. Trying to negotiate with anyone in the store is pointless, as soon as you tell them you don't want to pay the price they gave you they get very aggressive twoards you. I personally came in with games valued around 500 dollars, I expected to be able to negotiate a minimum of 400 dollars, as a 20 percent turn for them would be more than enough. I was offered 100 dollars, and the buyer wouldn't budge off his price. I immediately walked out and had my games sell online for 550 dollars in less than a week... If for some crazy reason you do try to sell to them, they will put your game they under paid for on the shelf for about 150% to 200% of the retail price of the game and wait for people who know no better to pay up for their ridiculous games. Then to make it worse they will do the same with consoles and their repairs. Seldom will they ever actually fix your problem, and if you're looking to buy a new console here, don't even try unless its current gen, you can find bundles online for a thirs of the price. So unless you want to walk around and look at the collections they have, you're better off not wasting your time trying to to buy or sell or find a repair with these people. Do not take your buisness here you're not getting a fair deal. It's incredibly frustrating to try and support small business when the buisness they are running is just unfair to you. read more

Went in one time. I love supporting local businesses but the customer service here was horrific. I patiently waited in line to purchase a game for my son while the clerk helped another customer. When it was my turn to make my purchase the phone rang and he answered and turned his back on me. Then a female employee pushed her way in front of him and I to sell something to another customer all the while ignoring that I'm standing there. I was finally able to purchase the game without so much as an apology for the rudeness and the wait. I'll resume buying from GameStop as the game I purchased was available there anyway. Let me tell you this place is the Coolest if not the Best video game Store around!! I had been to the store about 4-5yrs ago and had looked and sorted thew the manuals before and found my first CVIII Manual. This time was in search of NES Castlevania manuals and got so Lucky to find them. I got to look threw so many Manuals I helped sort them out and it was great. So so many old games that I didn't even know were made. I plan to go back and help sort some more. They were so kind and funny towards me and my 2 friends. We had a blast. My friend Mike got to see the basement and he was so overwhelmed by the sights he stated "I feel like I am in a Treasure Trove". We all made out and everyone was so nice and helpful. Incredible and knowledgeable staff! I've gotten my consoles and controllers repaired multiple times with amazing results. Prices are fair to market. Have traded several games in and have gotten a fair trade-in value (way better than Gamestop). I've been shopping here for years and have been extremely satisfied with their services, prices, and their selection. Their selection ranges from very retro (Atari, NES, etc.) to new releases. We took our PS3 to get fixed at this wonderful, clean, fun store. There were some issues, but the owner Frank Jr. bent over backwards to make sure we were satisfied and happy in the end. He is a young, friendly, knowledgeable, genuinely nice guy that values his customers. It's a family business and they are dedicated to the store and pleasing the customers. They pour their hearts and souls into the store, and it really shows. For parking it's mainly street parking. On the weekends you can also park at the Septa train station parking lot for free, it's right across the street. There's also a Municipal Parking on the street behind the store that has metered parking for cheap. DON'T park in the bank lot directly behind the building, they will tow you. It seems they are getting a lot of business and making improvements to strive to even better their business. If you want quality, personal, caring, and exceptional service, this is the place to go. :) read more

Literally my favorite store. They have a wide selection of games from the Atari to the Ps5/Xbox series x. The staff are extremely nice and helpful and don't try to sell you anything that you don't need (like a protection plan or a membership). If you want to buy a console from them, they clean it, give you a free original controller and cords, and you're out of there in a jiff. I've been thinking about this a long time and I have to write this review in order to warn others. DO NOT SELL YOUR VINTAGE GAMES TO THIS STORE! SELL THEM YOURSELF ON EBAY. I brought in a very large collection of classic nes, super nes to this store about a year ago; I had found them all at my parents house while i was home for the holidays. Not being fully aware of how desirable these games had become, i proceeded to make a deal for a sale. Before anything had even been discussed, the staff was already taking my games away and out of my sight; once i asked for what i thought would be fair, the guy i was dealing with immediately offered half of what i asked, and kept trying to drop the price. It's one thing to negotiate, but it's another to take advantage/rip some one off. I found out the actual value on ebay for a lot of the games i had sold them and it was criminal how much money they offered me for them. These were my games from when i was a kid and something i truly cared about, and they basically stole them from me. I've waited this long to write this because even a year on now, i still think about it. And I don't want to see the same thing happen to someone else. I just wanted to say thank you to Frank. He closes up but doesn't go home. He stays up late repairing consoles and units. I know this because he did this for me. After my 3DS XL was sat on while charging on a sofa and had the charging port bent internally and couldn't charge any longer. Frank allowed me in the store after closing to take it apart replace the bottom touch screen and charging terminal. He also noticed the battery was very close to popping and swapped it out. The other topic is after a buying a gameboy SP AGS 101 bright screen from a kid off marketplace assured me it was like new and soon found the L and R triggers didn't work. Frank took it apart and educated me on water damage and went to work, replaced the triggers and made it right. All cost nothing but store credit from a couple trade ins. I have so much respect for Frank. He runs a great business. I would recommend them to anybody looking for game systems, games, repairs, etc. I wouldn't go anyplace else! read more

Hands down the best gaming store I've been in. The range of his selection on the retro games and systems is incredible (even carrying some gaming systems that I didn't know existed). The selection of the current games is on par with most other stores as well. I always see special events at the store posted with game tournaments or midnight openings, the store is great for the community as well. On top of that Frank is incredibly nice and friendly! I know very little about gaming, but don't mind diving way out of my way for my son Gavin. We had a Wii U that was overheating. Given that it was out of warranty, we thought it wouldn't hurt to open her up, but quickly discovered we were missing the special tool. We shipped the unit to Nintendo who refused to "repair" because the console was "breached." Mind you. This is the second Wii U we've purchased and the second one to break down. Found this place after making some calls to more local computer and gaming stores and they recommended I give this place a call. Less than 30 minutes there, the Wii U was fixed, I found two Nintendo 64 games for my son and left wishing this wasn't a 45 minute drive away, but perhaps blessed that I'm not closer because my son would love this place. Let's just say people who define "professional" in their own obtuse way don't get out enough. I don't think everything has to be corporate or clean. I've gone here once or twice in the past few years to pick up a specific item. I was always impressed at their inventory and general feel of the place. But it wasn't until recently that I started going there regularly and with a mission. I am on the hunt to restore and expand my entire childhood 8 & 16 bit cartridge collection. You check eBay, you hit a flea market, you check another game store, you might find one or two things, and when you do, the price may or may not be what you want. I've been to this store three times in the last three weeks because each time I go, I find another title I need with a price I want. And that's huge. On top of that, let's talk about the owners. At least, the couple who I think are the owners. They are hands-down the nicest, friendliest people who welcome you to the store and generally seem interested in you and what you want/need. Classic Game Junkie is the best store for video game players and collectors in PA and the tri-state area. The owner sells, buys, and repairs every game and console you can imagine - modern and retro. He has even done some specialty modifications of old consoles, a service that is nearly impossible to find at a retail store. They also hold tournaments for fighting games, shooters, and sometimes retro games. The store itself is decorated with old school consoles and memorabilia such as over-sized Lego sculptures of classic video game character sprites. CGJ has a great 90's vibe that will bring you right back to the glory days of Funcoland and indestructible game cartridges. It's always a pleasure shopping at Classic Game Junkie. Not a bad little video game store outside of Philadelphia for all your gaming needs. This place has almost every game, console, and accessories known to man! The glass case with many of the rarities is quite a site to behold. The store is well organized with each system represented with their own section. Some of the games are a little pricey, but it is better then dealing with Ebay. The staff were also very friendly and willing to chat it up or joke around with the customers. One awesome place about this place is that they repair any console! My girlfriend's Game Gear was not working well as it should, and they will be able to repair it! Game Junkie is what GameStop dreams it is when it goes to sleep at night. Awesome customer service, an amazing selection of games going all the way back to Atari and ColecoVision (GameStop doesn't even sell PS2 anymore), and really reasonable prices. You feel like a friend, like a real member of a video game community when you step through the door and a memorable 8-Bit tune plays. (my favorite is the Mega Man boss themes) Once I bought a game that I was having a lot of trouble finding - even online (Mega Man X collection for PS2) - and upon booting it up a week later, I realized it wasn't working correctly. When I found some time to bring it back maybe 2 weeks later, they remembered me and cleaned the disk for free, even tested it out in the store to make sure it was working. They even run tournaments and fix broken consoles. It's pretty close to gaming nirvana. read more

One of best (and few of it's kind) video games stores in the world. Their collection of classic games and system is literally second to none in the region.......hell, I would say probably as good as I have seen. They stock all the latest releases for all games. If you have a problem with your gaming system (or pretty much anything) they will fix it for you at a reasonable cost. If you want to drop off old games for a trade and swing some deals, you can do that to with a great smile from a very friendly owner. People have to realize that this is a family store and on some occasions they get swamped with repairs, so the return time to the owner could vary depending on his much many items dropped off need to be fixed.
