I came in today after usually cutting my own hair, and I'm thrilled to have finally found a professional who gave me a cut I truly love. Walking into such a clean and welcoming shop was already a great start. Christian gave me a style I've never had before. I came in with an idea, but after he examined my scalp, he made a suggestion that turned out even better than what I had in mind. He gave me a very low cut with a super cute line design on the side--and I'm obsessed! Not only is he talented, but he's also great to talk to. We had such a good conversation, and he even explained why trimming the top was a good move because of a small dent I hadn't even noticed. The result? I love my cut even more. I immediately booked my next appointment in two weeks--he's definitely my new barber. The shop is super cute, spotless, and everyone there is so friendly. I am totally uncomfortable and unconfident with a dorky mobster-like haircut that lacks finesse (frankly, it looks stupid, with many uneven ends apparent months later and revealing a silly cowlick on the back of my head, which has never once been an issue for me). Sure the place's regulars love the classic cuts they receive, but I did not appreciate the barbershop treatment at a place holding itself out as a salon on a Broadway Avenue in a city like Providence. Clockwork has the visual appeal of a classic neighborhood barbershop with none of the intimidation. Tom, the owner and main barber is a kind, open and inviting person. His area is decorated with toys from the 1970's and 80's as well and music memorabilia and other random fun things to look at. Tom is also a well trained barber! He knows his stuff. The owner works a lot himself and store has very reasonable hours. Sometimes until 8:00 at night! Call ahead just to make sure. I've been a customer for probably 4-5 years now won't go anywhere else, don't care about the wait whether I'm lucky and get right in or 20 minutes or an hour. It's worth it.
