To give some context, I live and work about an hour and a half away, so I arranged my morning off specifically to come in and open an account. This was already the second bank I tried due to previous customer service issues, and I was hoping this would be a better experience. When I arrived, I spoke with a teller who was polite and explained there would be a wait since the branch was short-staffed. I told her I didn't mind waiting, and she asked me to take a seat. She also explained that I would first need to open a personal account before opening the second account I wanted, which was fine with me. After a short while, her coworker spoke to her privately. Then she came back and told me it would be better if I scheduled an appointment because they would not be able to help me today. The only time offered was 2:00 p.m. -- but at that point, it was only 10:00 a.m., and I had already explained that I work an hour and a half away. I mentioned that the whole reason I wanted to open an account in Bastrop was because it's closer to home and much more convenient than driving into Austin, where my current bank is. Despite that, she told me my only other option would be to go to the Stassney location in Austin. This completely defeated the purpose of trying to open a local account. In the end, I had to leave the bank without opening an account. I felt frustrated because I was initially told to wait -- which I was fine with -- only to be told later that I couldn't be helped at all. A friend of mine recommended this bank because of her positive experience, but unfortunately, my visit left me very dissatisfied. I hope you can use this feedback to improve the process for walk-in customers, especially those who travel long distances and make time out of their schedule to open an account.

It's sad, I loved coming here to see people I recognized and that knew me. It doesn't feel personalized anymore. Hopefully it gets better. In the meantime last I checked they had some of the best rates in town.

Some of the items are, the banks traveling policy is to just block any access outside of the U.S., which is a hassle obviously for traveling. Most modern banks will have some piece of the app/access that will confirm where you actually are, which can also help with confirming transactions are from you. Slightly concerning it is the way it is here. I lost my card recently, called the 24/7 line to lock it. Someone outside of the U.S. answers, asks me for the name of my bank/account number to start .. I didn't give this info to them, but they also stated they cannot lock it and would need to transfer me elsewhere.. huh?! I told this to a teller and it seemed pretty minor, even though it's sketchy to call a number your bank provides in those instances of losing a card, getting someone outside of the U.S. that seems to be phishing, rather than helping. The mobile app, which is decent at best, has an option for mobile deposit.. great! However when you deposit a check they cancel it because they want you to write something on the check (yet there's not instruction to do so in the app).. why not just add in instructions, instead of useless manual work? Apparently there was a name change too, as a customer I never heard about it, just get my deposits canceled because I put the wrong bank name as well.. Why not tell your customers you changed your bank name? It's just simple stuff that Roscoe either doesn't seem to collectively care about (that as a customer you would want your bank to care about) or doesn't do anything to communicate to customers.. I got tired of lackluster banking and moved to a local Austin option!

They will ask what you plan on using your money for, sometimes they can't even find your account. They take a picture of you when you open an account and also scan your drivers license but if you don't have an ID on you to make a withdrawal then you can't have your money. Also you can't withdraw money through the drive through. They will ask you to come inside. They go through employees like most people go through underwear. If they care that little about keeping their employees that only means they care that much less of their customers. Every time I asked someone information about my account and what was going on with it I would get a different answer and get nothing resolved. They hire people with no GED's and I have proof that employees are on drugs while on the job. Walked in once and an employee was dead asleep on a desk in the front lobby. I reported it and nothing got done. They only care about accounts and employees have told me they make up fake accounts so that they don't lose their jobs. Bankers and tellers have to use their own money to open up fake accounts and are told to call customers and ask them to make a deposit and use their debit cards. Customers of IBC bank are only a number and money to them. They do very little to help someone and even less to fix any issues when they make an error. Their motto is "We Do More," indeed they do more to hurt their own customers and employees.
