The reason I'm giving this a three star review (and I feel bad doing so) is because I genuinely hated the drinks. Like viscerally hated. The menu really was a struggle as someone who's a gin drinker. There wasn't a lot on the menu which I'm often used to, but the drinks were either cloyingly sweet or incredibly tart and bitter. There seems to lack of balance and there were a lot of really weird flavors that really didn't seem to go together. Now I can't speak on every single drink on the menu, but I did try a couple that are either premixed or on tap and I really struggled with them. I was excited about the ginger drink, and I was given a taste of their homemade ginger beer, and it felt like it was going to burn a hole through my stomach. Which is typically not my reaction to anything gender flavored. I just think the balance of flavors are not quite right and so certain things overpowered other flavors. I ended up really not wanting anything on the menu because everything was so rum based and I really don't like rum, so they offered to make me a cocktail with some flavors that I liked. They told me they had passionfruit, which I was really excited about. It usually is a really nice combination of sweet but not too sweet and good fruity flavor. I had a passionfruit gin drink made, and it was absolutely gorgeous coming out. Unfortunately, what I didn't know was that the passionfruit that they have is on the very sour and tart side (contained by a staff member later), which has never been my experience with passionfruit in the past. One of the things that I told the waitress was that I really don't like sour. I like citrus but not something that is so overly sour that it tastes like I'm eating a warhead. And the drink that was made for me had both lemon and this really tart passionfruit to the point all I could taste was this awful sour flavor. I felt bad and drank it and was not about to ask it off the bill because they were so kind about everything. The drink ended up only being nine dollars and I genuinely wonder if they undercharged me, but I felt a lot better that that's all I paid for it. Aesthetically it was beautiful, but it tasted horrible. I tried my friends drink, which was a play on a margarita with Mezcal, and that was also incredibly bitter and sour. I'm not someone who needs disgustingly sweet drinks, hence me not liking rum, but I do need a balance of sweetness with the other flavors. My friend thought her drink was OK, but she said she wouldn't order it again. I would definitely give this location another shot if I could figure out a drink that would work, but it seems their drinks either are very sour or very sweet and I'm hoping that at some point they will be able to find a good balance between the two.

We walked up to the door and was greeted by the host. We put our name down and was told maybe a 40 minute wait. We bar hopped to another bar and less than 15 minutes of waiting we were told to come back to claim our spot. We were lead to the bar area. Super cool too because there's bag hooks under the bar counter. Tip: Go to this bar first, ask for the wait then decide to put your name down. Check out other bars around the area and then return for your time! Everything about this bar is super cool from their menu and aesthetics. Even the way their make their ice for their drinks come from a shaved ice machine on their bar top. Our bartender was extremely friendly. Definitely worth stopping in! My friend and I ordered the Grilled Banana Pisco Sour, Tunnel Vision, and the Sake Pain Killer. They were out of a bunch of ingredients for other cocktails but we still enjoyed our time very much. In fact, we really wanted to try the Sake Pain Killer but they were out of one of the ingredients and they were still able to make a substitution so that we could still order it. The drink selections were interesting, but nothing really jumped out at us. The drinks we ordered were well made and the bartender gave a great explanation of them. We are glad we checked out Cobra Clutch, but don't think it will be a staple in our Arts District evenings.
