My buddy was having a birthday get to together here. He had always wanted to try throwing axes and today was the day. We didn't know what to expect and we figured we would tailgate beforehand. When we arrived we found out we can bring our libations into the facility. We all signed our necessary paperwork and proceeded to receive our lesson. There were a handful of us so we would need to take turns sitting out rounds. We figure out a pattern to let each of us team up. We had a lot of fun trying to out do each other. The small axes are much harder to throw than you would think. You might think the larger axes would be tougher, but it's quite the opposite. It's a great time, just be careful and follow the rules.
Found a Groupon for this place a few months ago and my hubby and I were finally able to use it the other night! The beginning was a bit rough. This place is located next to a haunted house. Which is such a weird phenomenon having a haunted house going in February. But okay. Then we had to get into this line that is basically for the haunted house...and then the Axe throwing customers are like, an afterthought. So, we had to be searched for weapons. And my purse was searched too, which is always nice not expecting that and having women's items all about. Oh well. Going in was a bit unorganized. It's a huge open area without any signs saying where to go. We bounced around a little to find the Axe counter, which is straight to the back. We had to sign some waivers and then we got started. A gal brought us to our own little corner next to the bathrooms and we were able to start throwing. She gave us a run down on safety and how to properly throw and then left us to practice for a bit. We had fun trying to get the hang of it. The only part I wasn't a major fan of was the fact that our room was next to the exit of the haunted house. So the entire time we were listening to the unnerving screaming track whenever someone exited the haunted house. That stuff really makes my stomach crawl. After a while of practicing our same girl came and told us about a few different games we could play. We played "Timber" (aka horse) and had a blast. Some other groups brought their own drinks. We kept talking about how we wish we had done the same. So that's a great idea. All in all we had a fun time! I probably won't come back here because of the haunted house thing. But would totally go again elsewhere if someone invited us!
Still a 5 star experience! I have been 3 times and can't wait for an excuse to return! Race- aka Axeton Kutcher- was our Axe Master guide and showed us all the tricks and tips. This was part one of a Christmas Gift for my son- who is in town visiting and it was a huge hit! My son has throw axe before- but it was about 8 years ago in scouts- never in a business setting with this kind of individual time to throw and perfect the technique. Once the boys got the groove- the bullseye bell was rung and the pictures were clicking! The practice time my son was dominating the throwing- but once the games started, hubby found his rhythm and just kept winning. Eight games later- husband 5 wins and my son only had three wins. Boys are funny- hubby was cranky until he found the right throw and the boy was cranky at losing! Race was flying solo tonight and had 2 groups around the corner and us - tucked away on our own. We had a 90 minute session and he was axesome at rotating the floor and making sure everyone was taken care of. I even popped over to the other group to play ref and call a throw- and when Race cycled around he confirmed my call! He really took to my son and the two of them had fun throwing together once hubby pooped out. Cannot recommend enough!
They held a free axe throwing class and it was awesome! Even though it was maybe about 30 minutes, but still me and friend learned a lot about throwing axes. The place is spacious and the lanes are open at the front area. But the ones in the back are more separated for safety reasons. The staff (specifically our awesome "Axeton Kutcher" is very knowledgeable and he went over the safety rules and taught us how to throw the axes properly. We also felt that this is a very good stress reliever and fun group activity! You can also BYOB which is pretty cool. My friend and I loved it and we both got the bullseye! I was better fit with the smaller axes versus the larger one. I felt the smaller axes were much easier than the larger ones, although I've heard that the smaller the more difficult. Near the end, the staff also demonstrated us some tricks like the under throw, double throw and other more difficult techniques. Of course, these guys are more experienced. Overall, we enjoyed our free session and would definitely recommend this place for group activities or a good hangout! Can't wait to come back with a group of people!
What a great time with a group of complete strangers! Race aka Axeton was our instructor. He was great, lively, fun, and interactive! He made the experience! He was helpful to the individuals and gave great feeedback when I most definitely needed it. Don't forget to wear close toe shoes! But they do have crocs that are available - free to wear during your visit. The byob is always a great idea! I felt I threw better with a beer or two. Others at the place were celebrating birthdays. Some groups even brought food. Such a great place!
Had a spectacular time here at Class Axe throwing!!! 10/10 recommended!!! We heard about "axe throwing" through some friends and have been seeing it all over social media. We had to give it a try. At first I could not land the axe on the board at all. But our instructor Named "Race" was amazing! He was very helpful and extremely funny! Our family enjoyed having him play some axe games and show us how to improve. The environment was friendly and clean. Our instructor cleaned the area and axes before and after. AMAZING experience! Well worth it!!
Met a group of people for a night out axe throwing. This was our 1st time, and we had a blast! Our axepert, who my husband lovingly named red cause of her red hair, was a great teacher and offered just the right amount of help. You can choose to have your axepert take the score for you or you can score for yourself. It's pretty easy to catch on to the scoring. We decided to keep track of the score ourselves. There were soft drinks and chips available for sale, but you can byob or bring in outside food. Our meetup host brought wine and beer for us, but I just ate a snack bar I had. I couldn't imagine wine and axes mixing together well for me! Of course, if you wanted to grab dinner before or afterwards, there are dining options nearby including a Longhorn right in the same parking lot. My only minor complaint is the bathroom could use some maintenance. There were no paper towels, so I had to make sure I dried my hands off on my clothes so my hands were not slippery when I threw the axe. The toilet paper holder was broken also. This was a very minor issue. We would definitely return for more axe throwing again cause everybody enjoyed themselves so much!
Man, this place is too cool! Located across the street from Regency mall That have small Escape rooms and Axe throwing, we came for the Axes! You get your own personal Axe throwing teacher who shows you the ropes...you get some time to practice..then play some games! It's harder then you think to get a perfect throw! You have to really arch that back and release at the right time! But once you get the hang of it...so fun! We played 4 different games and we all had a great time! In the end there was only one LumberLord and she rocked it! Get some beers ( or any other dranks) and have a great time! Highly recommend for a fun night out
One of the most fun group activities you can book in Jacksonville! Class Axe Throwing opened up a few months ago. I've been twice, including a visit as recent as Saturday, and have left the premises grinning from ear to ear both times. What the hell is axe throwing, you ask? It's like bowling, but you're hurling 2ft axes at an unwavering target. You team up and go into battle against your opponents to see who gets crowned the LumberLord. For a smaller price you can "free throw," which don't get me wrong is still incredibly entertaining. However, I highly recommend bringing your pals and trying out the full axeperience. You'll play Timber (like Hangman), First to 30, and Tic-Tac-Toe. Listen, there is nothing more satisfying than swaying back, using your strength, and nailing a bullseye. It's not as easy as it looks, but after a few throws you start to get the hang of it. Just like riding a bike. On both occasions, our axepert Ashley made the entire experience utterly enjoyable. She's fun as hell and has a talent for amping you up! Plus, the killer background playlist helps. Other features of the facility are: 5-minute escape rooms, swag store, and the option to BYOB. Say no more! Overall, a place that must be checked out. Gather the troops, make a reservation online, and get axecited about your first axe-throwing session!
This place is tucked inside a retail center and you wouldn't really guess it's an axe throwing place at initial glance. We went inside and it wasn't very busy so they showed us directly to our private lane. Our instructors name was Race and he was fantastic. He did a great job of showing us how to throw the axes and came up with plenty of clever games to play against each other to make it competitive. Its not just simply throwing an axe against wood. At the end Race even gave us a cool axe throwing trick show that was probably the highlight of it. I definitely recommend this place, especially Race, he made this experience much better than previous axe throwing I've had. He even gave us a cool tour of the haunted place next door that looks TERRIFYING! Oh did I mention you can bring in an entire cooler of your own beer?! That's a game changer! You have to check this place out.
I went to check the store lace out for a girls outing. The was a group there at he time who looked like they was having a great time. The price I will as given to as $20 per person per hour. It seems like if you have a big group you cannot axe throw that many times. They seem to be having a great time though.
A friend recommended this place at first I was like this is dumb as Fuq. My host I think is James did an amazing job he explained so well that on my first throw EVER I nailed the bullseye. If you like some friendly competition for date night this is your spot. They offer bring your own beer and food which is pretty cool. They sanitize the area before starting which was nice protecting us against COVID. Haunted house on one side and skate rink on other so can't miss this place.
Came here on an impromptu date night w/ a Groupon we purchased. We had way more fun than we were expecting!! Phoenix did an awesome job explaining the games to us and instigating our competing attitudes I definitely recommend this place!! You'll have tons of fun and it'll make you feel like you could actually survive the zombie apocalypse!
A really fun time with friends.Good welcome and greeting/service. Reserved a 6 pm slot for an hour. They provide you an initial overview, take you through the game options (think top golf games), have you try a few, and then you kickoff. We had 4 of us and the timeframe was perfect. We did a regular target game, a balloon popping game, and a zombie game. All fun for different points. Your score shows on top of the lane (think bowling). Setup is two lanes side by side with the axes in the middle. There are two axe options for you to try, a larger one you can throw with one or two hands and a smaller, lighter one that you use one hand for. I preferred the two hand axe, did better with this. Fun time for sure. They sell non-alcoholic drinks Ks and I believe you can bring beer (we weren't aware but another group had). This was my first time- Will be back! read more
My family had a blast. Jeremy was our axe throwing director and helped us pick our games and keep score. He gave us pointers for throwing and which targets to hit. We had our own area with two target boards. There was a table and stools to sit at while waiting for our turn to throw. We brought our own drinks but there were some for purchase as well. We got two size choices for the throwing axes. We were shown two options for style of throwing. My favorite game was the shooting gallery. The Zombie hunting one was a close second. Will definitely be back. There were also escape rooms but we did not do them. read more

I heard about axe throwing through friends of my in Orlando and my girlfriend and I were visiting friends in Jacksonville and heard about class axe and like always my girlfriend checked Groupon and they have great deals, but the amazing part of this experience was our instructor Kelly she is awesome she made us feel very comfortable and even though I was a lost cause my girlfriend took to it like breathing. We played some really fun games like survivor, timber, and tic tac toe and like I said my girlfriend kicked my butt lol and yes I was very salty about it lol more than I'm proud of but even though I lost I still had a lot of fun. Lastly they have escape rooms which were actually really fun and not to expensive to do. This location is amazing for date night or for large groups . I very much recommended this location and definitely a five star location. read more
AXE-CELSIOR!!!! That was my lumberjack name, as I partook in the new hotness here in Jax! It's darts to the next level, and Class Axe Throwing is the top spot to get your throw on. For about $26-34/person (depending on whether you have a groupon or not), you can partake in 90-minutes of axe-throwing goodness, so if you want a fun night out with friends, or a different type of date night, give this a shot...you won't be disappointed! After checking in and signing the waiver, our group was led to one of the "arenas" that consisted of two bullseyes. We had a full group of 12 (max), each with our own lumberjack name, so it was a 6-on-6 team battle...at least during the beginning. Our awesome axepert - "The Smart Axe" Tristen - trained us in proper execution and safety. Surprisingly enough, everyone picked up on the throwing technique pretty quickly, and then it was competition time. It was Axe-cellent (my team) vs Bad Axes in tournament games of TIMBER (like HORSE in b-ball) and Tic-Tac-Toe, both of which Axe-cellent emerged victorious. Following that was every lumberjack for himself/herself in a double-elimination tourney to crown the LumberLord - congrats to "Dumb Axe" Noah for taking the title! We even had some time before the next group arrived to just continue throwing aces at our leisure. All in all, it was an awesome experience. The folks at Class Axe put extra emphasis on safety, but ensured that a great time was had by everyone. Other pluses, as other reviews have noted, was that it was BYOB, so I also brought snacks for folks to nosh on. And if you're interested, there are 5-minute escape rooms @ $5/person. Didn't try it this time, may give it a go in the next go-around! One thing of note: The 13th Floor Haunted House is adjacent to Class Axe and actually exits into the retail section of Class Axe, so you can actually make a very full night of fun especially when Halloween rolls around this year! read more
As I lay here with ice on my lower back I'm reminded of the fun night had throwing axes.. oh and how out of shape I am! We signed up for the class online and signed the waiver forms prior to arrival. The venue is tucked away in a shopping center so it was a little hard to find. I came here with my cousin and was worried it would be just the two of us but thankfully 4 others showed. We were given a quick instruction on how to throw and then had many practice rounds before the competition was to being. Split into two teams we had 3 games to play which was tough being our first time. Lots of laughter, lots of dropped axes and beer! You can bring your own beer. Also, make sure you wear close toed shoes or they'll give you a pair of stylish Crocs! read more
Went here on a date night and we had a blast. I had no idea my husband has wanted to go axe throwing as a kid. I was happy I was able to help him fill a childhood dream. Our instructor was awesome and the group we were paired with made the evening even more fun as we are all competitive but supportive to each other. This is a definite must try; we are in the process of planning a girls night here as well. read more

Throwing axes seems to be the new cool thing to get your friends together and do, so of course when John L set up a UYE, I was amped. I paid what I will say is a little bit higher of a fee than what I was expecting, and I filled out a waiver saying that I couldn't sue them if I got hurt or died or something. Well when we got there, the forms for us were not showing as taken care of. No big deal, or so I thought. The man that was running the show that day seemed like he was just really aggravated to be dealing with us. When you show up late, of course it is understood that you aren't getting the full amount of time since some of the rest of the party has already been throwing axes. Not really worth the attitude he threw at us. There were three others that showed up after us, and I think they also were shown less than amazing customer service. After getting a VERY brief lesson on how to throw an axe, we were up and running. The "games" themselves aren't as fun I didn't think, and we liked it more when we were just taking turns throwing and trying to outscore each other and enjoying some adult beverages that we had brought along. The place is pretty small, hardly decorated, and had a lot of gear for sale. There is some sort of zombie escape room next door and that was waaaay over pitched to us. While it was fun over all, there is another place, Autobahn that we might want to try since the employee was such an axe hole to us. read more

We went to class axe for a birthday. What I likes is that we got to make reservations for a time we wanted. We went at 430 and it wasn't overly packed. Our instructor was Morgan who made for a great time. She definitely made everyone feel comfortable and enjoy each other's company. The group we were in did have other couples we didn't know but we all got along great. The games were really fun and made for good competition. It was byob which I always We are definitely going back again. Like cause we all had brought beer we all enjoyed. We are definitely going back. It was really made for any occasion. read more
Well this certainly could have been a 5 star review if it weren't for the service. We were paired with some other people, shown how to throw and axe and were told to practice. The staff was supposedly to come back and explain the different kinds of Axe throwing games were could play, but we never got the same service all the other parties were getting. We had to go and find people to tell us what to do, ask for chairs and some guidance. All other parties around us had staff members helping them and explaining different throwing techniques. Fell put out even though we enjoyed the activities. read more

Axe-actly what I needed! The Class Axe team provide Axe-cellant service and instruction on how to properly Axe-e-cute throwing motions towards our targets. It is such a fun way to wind down an evening with new friends along the way. If you turn out to be the best in your squad you have a chance to be a Divine Lumberlord...like me! What else could you AXE for ? This was a great YES! event. This was my very first time throwing and axe and I was AXE-cited! This is a great place to come and let off some steam or even better try something new. The staff here at Class AXE are very friendly and passionate about this place. It's 90 minutes of complete physical fun. We started off learning the technique of throwing the axe and getting it to stick on the board. We played a few games where we were split into teams and went against each other and then to the duel of Lumber Lord! You can also drink beer while you're throwing the axe. After this event we were take for a lights on tour of the Haunted House next door. If you love haunted houses and being frightened, this would not disappoint. What a great time and meeting my fellow YES! members. I'm looking forward to coming here again! Be prepared for a lot of puns! read more
