Our Experience with Impact Roofing…read more
I have never written a negative review before. I genuinely believe that most people and businesses try their best, and when something goes wrong, I tend to give the benefit of the doubt and move on. Unfortunately, our experience with Impact Roofing was not a one-time misunderstanding or an isolated delay. It was a months-long process marked by repeated postponements, difficulty obtaining basic information, and a level of frustration that I never expected when hiring a contractor
In November 2025, we began looking for a contractor to replace the roof on our home, which was more than 25 years old. After contacting several companies, we eventually connected with Impact Roofing. From the beginning, arranging an estimate was difficult. Several appointments were missed, and we repeatedly reached out to reschedule. We received various explanations for the missed appointments, and we chose to give the benefit of the doubt and continue moving forward.
When we finally met with the owner in March 2026, he was friendly, professional, and enthusiastic about the work. We felt comfortable moving forward and decided to expand the project to include replacing our home's siding as well.
We explained that we hoped to have both projects completed by early May because we were hosting a party. We were reassured that this was very likely, provided the materials were available. We were told the roofing would take approximately two to three days and the siding no more than five days.
We paid $15,000 in early March.
One important detail was that our existing solar panels needed to be removed and reinstalled for the roof replacement. We specifically discussed this with the owner, who assured us that this was something he handled regularly. Based on those assurances, we had no reason at the time to believe it would become an obstacle.
Unfortunately, the weeks that followed involved repeated requests for a written contract, updates, and a confirmed start date. By the end of March, we were still chasing the roofing contract. The start date on the paperwork did not align with the completion date we had discussed, and although the owner acknowledged the discrepancy, the process continued to drag on.
Throughout April, May, and June, we repeatedly requested the contract for the siding project and asked when work would begin. We received assurances that materials were being obtained, that our project was on the schedule, and that work would begin soon. In early June, we were told the crew was preparing for our project and would be at our home as soon as possible.
It was not until late June that we were told there was a problem finding a subcontractor to handle the solar panels at a price the owner considered reasonable. This was particularly frustrating because the issue had not been communicated to us earlier, despite our repeated requests for updates.
In July, we even offered to help cover the additional expense of the solar-panel work. We simply wanted our roof completed and were willing to be flexible to move things forward.
Ultimately, at the end of July, we informed the owner that we would have to hire another company to complete the roofing because we could no longer wait. He was agreeable to that decision. We proceeded with another roofing contractor, Firehouse Roofing, whose professionalism and communication throughout that project were a welcome contrast to our experience up to that point.
Despite the roofing arrangement ending, we still intended to have Impact Roofing complete the siding, as we had already paid a substantial amount of money. We were told the siding would begin once the new roof was completed. We continued to provide updates and request a start date, but the delays and lack of communication continued.
By August, our frustration had understandably reached its limit. We still did not have a written siding contract, and despite months having passed since our payment, the siding work had not begun. When my husband requested a refund, the owner responded that he would deliver the siding materials to our driveway because they were not returnable. We pointed out that we still had no signed contract for the siding and that the original roofing arrangement had not been fulfilled.
Communication became increasingly difficult. It was only after we raised the possibility of legal action that a dumpster and the siding materials were delivered to our property. We finally received a written contract at the end of August. Upon reviewing it, we noticed an additional $2,700 charge for gutters that we understood had already been included in the original price. When we questioned this discrepancy, the owner acknowledged the error and corrected it.
The siding work finally began in September. Work took intermittently, often with only one or two workers present.
The cap - after my husband posted a Google review, the owner texted him "WTF is your problem?" and called him an asshole and threatened to sue
