I went to Le Train Bleu once before in the fall and I had a great experience over all. My second…read moretime around left me feeling disappointed and sweaty. I was unaware the restaurant has no air conditioning and I was visiting last week during a heat wave. For a fine dining restaurant they really should have more fans in the dining room. They had a small one in the section I was in. I ordered an octopus small plate and a chicken entree. I also got a cocktail that the server recommended to go with the chicken. I never got the entree. When I told one of the servers, they offered to bring it but my friend was done with his entree so we figured we would move on to dessert. So I told them I would pass. Then the server who took my order came over and tried to tell me that I did not order the chicken entree. Not only is that rude, but it's also uncalled for. Why would I make that up? He recommended me a cocktail to go with it! He spoke perfect English so I don't believe anything got lost in translation. Then I ordered dessert because I was treating my friend to dinner for his birthday. We both ordered espressos. They only brought mine. The restaurant is of course beautiful and very instagram-able. But the service was very disappointing, and the expensive food quality does not merit the poor service or the beauty of the restaurant. I would much rather go back to Laperouse in Paris. Worth the money, great service, and the soufflé is incredible.

Le Train Bleu - Rice side served with the sea bass. Those brownish kernels are crunchy and have a deeper flavor. Not my favorite in consistency or taste

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ Notre Dame Granny Smith Apple Confit - Was refreshing! I couldn't tell if this was a real apple or some fancy French creation made to look like one - that's how real it looked! The mousse and apple bits were cold & delicious and the chocolate shell was good, but not sure if it was worth the price at €7.5. + Pain Au Chocolat Cookie - Verrrry good chocolate chip cookie, chocolate croissant mashup. Only thing that we were missing was some good ol' milk! + Almond Croissant - Once again, delicious! Solid croissant and definitely a good grab and go candidate. = Citronnade - Was just OK. Lemonade that was on the watered down side, but was somewhat refreshing because I was dying of thirst. THE SERVICE ----------------------- - Employee who helped us with our order was friendly, but the cashier was a bit blah and not exactly the friendliest person, especially when we asked for extra utensils and napkins. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ - Smallish, tight interior that you can dine in at, but don't be surprised if the next table is sitting on top of you. + There are also 5 outdoor tables on the narrow street. - Entrance is tight too. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- + Even though this bakery is ranked highly on Tripadvisor, there was no crowd on the Monday morning that we swung by. Line moved superfast.

We spoke to a lady who was American but moved to Paris years ago. She recommended the chocolate hazelnut which changed her life. So us fat kids sampled the 6 flavors which the girl brought us inside the business to give us the samples. I then told her large she gave me extra large with 5 scoops. We got lemon ice, coffee gelato, chocolate chip, chocolate hazelnut and the chocolate fondue. Everything was delicious. But I think we were gelatoed out and the lemon ice was amazing ! Everything was good but the lemon stood out. It was just more refreshing as we walked Disney Paris all day then walked from metro to the stores. Then we met the store owner who was really sweet and we chatted for a bit and then said hey do you want something to go? I said no it's ok and then she said here have more lemon ice. My wife and I destroyed that as well. She was so sweet. She said it doesn't make you fat since it's just water and sugar and fresh lemon. I said yeah it will lol. I'd come back.

The ice cream itself was a bit sweet for me personally but was deliciously creamy and had a nice strong roasted pistachio flavor. Though if you have any kind of lactose intolerance this is no joke please beware. I gladly suffered for this ice cream. I look forward to going back the next time I'm in Paris.
