The doctor is great, but I've had multiple issues. The first time shipping and color, of contacts were wrong. Just recently eyeglasses came in November 18. I called, and was told it was my fault because on my paperwork I marked no text messages. I have had multiple issues with this local office. First year dealing with them, since we moved from AZ last year. I got overcharged multiple times, forced to go back, lied about insurance/protection, they tried to charge for exams that I had paid for within the permites timeframe; they had also provided a contact prescription that had an expiration date 6 month shorter than the normal year and that's why I was forced to come back. Had paid for the glasses protection and they had scheduled me over a year after that (they did not disclose I had one year to use it) I went in for the appointment scheduled (after couple cancellations) l that's when I found out it had expired 4 days prior to that appointment and they did not want to honor it. On top of that she was snarky, rude and unprofessional. I am still waiting for the billing department to contact me and same for the complaint department Had to call multiple times and they kept getting transferred around to people that was not in that department or able to help. Extremely disappointed and I am most definitely going to submit an official complaint and of course I do not recommend this office. Truth to be told my doctor was great, such a shame he works there. read more

TERRIBLE since taking over Rinkov! Rinkov was where I went when I was in 6th grade. Although IO selected big blue "Sally Jessie Raphael" glasses, they were wonderful. So, when I relocated to OH, I connected with them. Unfortunately, the storefront looks like garbage and they "claim" to have contacted me multiple times to reschedule a recent appointment. They claim they "called" and "emailed" me. They confirmed my info (which is correct and I've received other communications from them, including appointment conformations.) I called this morning to ask details and was routed to someone in Missouri. WTF?!?! This location is not managed well and would encourage others to find another provider ASAP!+ read more

Let me preface this by saying I haven't been to an optometrist in over a decade, but from the time I made my appointment to when I walked out the door after my first visit, I couldn't be more thrilled that I found Rinkov. The office downtown is bigger then you first think. I was treated exceptionally by the staff when I got there. The proper work was quick, and the pre-tests were relatively quick. I personally saw Dr. Bierman who was a delight to talk to. He walked me through each of the tests and then provided me the results in an easy to understand manner. Once it was confirmed I needed glasses, he took the time, with the assistance from other staff, to walk me through the different frames and to help pick one that worked for me. The experience was tremendous and I can't wait to go back for another visit. read more

Ran out of contacts and couldn't get an appointment for weeks, they said they wouldn't send me an updated script until I came in for an appt. Am I supposed to go weeks without being able to see? My prescription has not changed so an eye exam isn't necessary and this seems like a scam to get me to come in and pay for an additional, unneeded appointment. Will not be coming back. read more

I started going to this place when it was Rinkov for several years and I would've given them 5 stars! Unfortunately it is no longer Rinkov and now I have this company calling incessantly. I have asked them before to stop calling me, but the calls still come. The next call will result in a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission. read more

I enjoyed my experience with Rinkov Eyecare Center on Gay Street. I had my eye exam and getting new glasses (Nike frames). I am happy with the care I received. I will be coming back for my new glasses and another exam next year or two. Jen was a huge help in helping me pick out my new Nike frames. read more

These people are desperate. I used to go to the clinic when it was Riverview Eye Associates before it was bought out or whatever happened to it. I followed my doctor elsewhere and she requested my records. They have called me incessantly to schedule an annual exam, which led me to block their number. They have called me from at least 2 other numbers and are harassing my fiancee in the same manner as well. I don't appreciate this overly aggressive tactic. Take the hint: I don't need an eye doctor, I no longer wish to visit your clinic, and quit calling me. It's disgustingly desperate. read more

After a glowing review from my insurance company's web site and some word of mouth, I decided that Rinkov and associates would be the ones to help me in my desperate need for new glasses. The appointment scheduling, timing, wait, and service for the exam were exemplary and had me almost wishing I didn't have to wait a year to come back. Then I ordered my glasses. Assured of the durability of the frames, and that they would be tweaked for the best fit after some adjustments, I went ahead and purchased glasses from them. I know I can get comparable looking frames for pennies on the dollar, but I trusted their judgment and expertise, and hoped that the manufacturers would be of a higher standard than their dimestore competition on the internet. Money that could easily be spent fixing my car, or other things I'd much prefer to spend it on, rather than an appliance for my face that weighs mere ounces and costs so much. More power to you if it's disposable income in your world, however, in mine it represents a compromise and an investment. So imagine how I felt when the earpiece snapped off in my hand with nearly no pressure at the end of the day when I went to put them in their case. Now imagine how I felt trying to find a parking space at 5:30 on a Tuesday Downtown in a car that likes to overheat because I just got off work. And now how it feels to find out not only do they not have a replacement, it will take nearly a week, in many cases, and that they "keep their inventory on the floor", so hence, no display set to work in a pinch like this. Let me translate that further: I was sold the display pair for the price of new frames to begin with. I acquiesced to having the frames ordered, leaving my broken new glasses there to wear my old broken glasses that cut my face, and come back when they called. I'd like to get half my money back for a half-assed job personally, but I'll settle for leaving a half good review for the next consumer instead. /washes hands of it read more

I would not go here. The staff is extremely unfriendly. I ordered glasses and told they were ready for pickup. I live quite about 30 minutes away, but I was excited. When I got the glasses, the prescriptions were incorrect. This was not the fault of Rinkov, but of the lab. That being said, the staff at Rinkov do NOT check the glasses when they come back from the lab. I blame the lab for the mistake, but I blame Rinkov for not checking the glasses and for me wasting my time to go there and find out they were screwed up. Throughout this experience, I was never offered an apology or any form of sympathy. Instead, the staff treated me like it was my fault. And yes, they will talk shit about customers right in front of you! Stay away! read more

Was in town for the Wisconsin Badger football game last October. I lost one of my contact lenses...not good. I called around and decided I would stop by the Downtown Rinkov Eye Center. They fitted me with a sample. I was so relieved. From my nosebleed seats, I would never have seen the game. The sample lenses worked out great and Rinkov Eye Center shipped a supply to my home. Dr. Gardner is the best doctor my family and I have ever had. What a great experience here! The entire staff was so friendly and the front desk greeted me as soon as I walked in. I wish I had more than 5 stars! Be sure to park across the street in the lot, they even validate parking right downtown! read more

I've been coming to see Dr. Rinkov at this location for 5 years. I initially came because they were in close proximity to my work and they offered high end designer frames like Prada and Chanel and Cavalli. The Doctor is brisk and efficient but his staff and their customer service is what keeps me coming back. The only drawback I see is there is a pretty good mark up on the frames. I've rationalized this by watching this office treat EVERYONE. If I have to pay a little more so the little boy who really can't afford glasses gets a pair, so be it. I also enjoy that this is a local business and not a national chain like lenscrafters. The glasses that you do buy here are shipped in from a lab so there is no glasses in an hour type set up here. read more

I have been to a decent amount of optometrists over the years and I have to say that this place is very convenient to Nationwide and other downtown employees. They get you in and out of there as soon as possible, and it's very easy to do over your lunch time! Not to mention the overall professionalism of the staff and the doctor! read more

I just received contacts for the first time from Rinkov and they are great. The optician Kimberly was very helpful with advice on getting them in and out etc. as a new user and was very accommodating to any questions. Dr Rinkov himself is a pleasant professional older gentleman. My only complaint is that I wish they could explain what your insurance will cover and why more. read more

My family and I have gone here for many years. The doctors I've seen have been wonderful. Everyone who works here has been very friendly. Their customer service is really second to none. I always spend a fortune on my glasses and I know I could get them cheaper elsewhere. But I also feel that they put a lot of care and effort into getting everything right. My teenager manages to bend his frames frequently and they always adjust them for free. Their prices on contacts are competitive. They accept both of my insurances. read more

DO NOT USE RINKOV EYECARE!!!! Rinkov Eyecare Center did not properly process my insurance for a routine eye exam. I did not pay out of pocket because I did not feel it was my responsibility. Warning!!! I would not go to the Gay Street Office in Downtown Columbus. I received an invoice that made absolutely no sense. Additionally, it didn't match the Explanation of Benefits that I received from my insurance company. I called the billing service with my concerns & in my opinion they were unhelpful, defensive, and blamed it on the Rinkov downtown office. After getting nowhere with billing I walked two blocks to the Rinkov Eyecare Center thinking certainly they would be more helpful. Upon arrival I expressed that I needed help with an invoice that I had received. The office manager who runs the downtown office came barreling out of her office on the defensive. She said she had just received a call from billing & was told that I had yelled at the representative. This conversation with the office manager was not private. It was out in the open with all of the employees and 1 customer listening. I felt like she attempted to bully me & humiliate me in front of everyone by treated me like I was stupid. In my opinion she was overbearing and did nothing to try & defuse the situation. She blamed my insurance company & the billing department and basically as the Office Manager, in my opinion, failed miserably. If I owned the company I would have been mortified that a customer was treated that way, especially doing it in front of everyone. read more

The experiences I have had with the Dublin office have been HORRIBLE. First, the charges for an annual exam and a contact lens fit are ridiculously high. And everytime I have been there, they have found something wrong and recommended a consultation with a specialist. First, it was swelling of the optic nerve. Almost a thousand dollars later, the retinal specialist I was referred to said there was no swelling of my optic nerve. Then, I kept failing the visual fields test because the machine they use is not set up properly to block out light from the room and outside hallway. So, I got referred to another specialist, and I passed their visual fields test on the first try because they have proper equipment. But of course, that cost several hundred dollars. The last straw was at my recent appointment when I was going to be charged $280 for the exam and contact lens evaluation. The guy who was checking me out was supposed to give me a 20% prompt payment discount but wasn't going to do it until another employee heard me complaining about the high cost of the eye exam and reminded him to give me the discount. Also, of course, the doctor said I have Contact Lens Associated Red Eye, so she wanted me to come back for a re-check in 1 week after not wearing my contacts for a week. When I called to ask if I would be charged for the follow-up, I was told it would be another $100! This place just keeps finding things wrong so that follow-up visits are scheduled and more bills are paid, and the ultimate conclusion is always that there is nothing wrong to begin with. I also forgot to mention that when I ordered glasses from them, the messed up and made sunglasses. So it took extra time to get the right glasses order. If I could give negative stars for this eye doctor, I would. I will be finding a new eye doctor that doesn't create reasons for unnecessary follow-up visits. read more

Over the past 3 years I have given the office the benefit of the doubt when it came to mess ups. 2-3 hour exams, payment mistakes,etc. Now I am officially done with them. I received a bill for more $, 5 months after my appt, because I was quoted incorrectly. I'm not going to spend my $ at this location anymore. I'd be a fool to continue the cycle. Also, I always seem to get recommendations for additional procedures; it almost feels like I'm with a car sales man, not a doctor. I can't speak to the quality of their eye exams, or how they operate with contact lenses and glasses, but I work downtown and am not a patient of theirs, and called a few minutes before 5 p.m. because my glasses had been sliding off my nose all day and I couldn't imagine driving home like that, and they were so, so kind. The woman on the phone very brightly and happily invited me to come in anytime to get my glasses fixed -- "We'll take care of it, no problem!" she said, and the woman who adjusted my glasses was more concerned than I was with the quality of the fit when she was finished. And no charge to boot! I will definitely be considering them for future eye doc appointments. read more

Worst experience ever!!!! Went there at the end of last year to have them repair my glasses I purchased from there and refill my RX for contact lens. I was told my RX had expired and I needed a new exam. I requested they use my vision insurance only. They billed my medical insurance instead and said because I am a diabetic they have to do a different kind of exam. Obviously my medical insurance covered only a very small portion of the bill and I was left with the remainder of the bill. They failed to tell me this beforehand. I was so upset because I already had an ophthalmologist who already had done this exam. If they had asked me this, I would have told them. They sent me several high bills and I asked to speak to the manager to discuss my bill. I was told that the regional mgr. will call me back. Never received a call back waited several weeks so went in to speak to someone. Again, told that they would make sure someone would call me back...NOTHING...NO CALL BACK. So I called in again...three attempts. I paid the bill only because I didn't want it to affect my credit rating. I work downtown and thought this would be a convenient option. Don't go there. I make it a point to tell everyone about this HORRIBLE experience!!!!! read more
