I walked in, walked up to the counter, and told the employee that I had ordered online and I was here to pick up my burger. I was 15 minutes early, and I explained that to the man and told him if the burger wasn't ready yet, I understood. He just looked at me. He did not say a word. He just looked at me. We stood that way for what seemed like a long time and finally, I said "did you hear me?" He just kept looking at me without a word. Whaaaaa? It seemed unreal and confusing. Finally he slowly walked over and picked up a bag that contained my burger. I asked him if napkins and ketchup was in the bag. He pointed at the wall under the kitchen window. I helped myself. The reviews for this place were so good, but I never expected such a terrible experience. I do have to say that I ordered coleslaw as my side and the coleslaw was absolutely excellent. But it still didn't make up for everything else being so bad. I think it would've been a good burger if the meat hadn't been so burnt I can't believe they even sold something like that. The kitchen should've made a better patty. If they burnt it that badly they should've made a new one. Also, my burger was cold. I was there 15 minutes early, so what did they do, make my hamburger at the time I ordered it rather than honoring the time I said I would pick it up, which was an hour later? By the way, scroll down in the Yelp listing and you will see that this restaurant has nine health violations. That's not me saying that. Those are documented and validated health violations.

The restaurant was 3/4 full at 1pm on a Wednesday and no one waited more than a few minutes for a drink refill or 10 minutes for their food. I had the Applejack sandwich (granny smith apple sliced thin on a turkey sandiwich... be still my heart!) and my husband had a huge and delicious burger. The sweet potato fries were spectacular! My husband went to get a refill and I saw a lot of people leaving so I texted him at 1:20 suggesting we move inside. We got settled in new seats. At probably 1:40 someone said they know our order is next, confirmed an item we ordered and said "we didn't lose your ticket. The next time someone came by I asked for an update and she said there's just one order ahead of ours - she apologized and said someone called out. I said we needed to get back on the road so we will just take whatever is ready. She handed me three of four boxes of food at 1:50. We ate and were out the door at 2:05. An hour wait for food. Not my favorite dining experience. The spicy tacos weren't spicy. The grilled cheese was cold and only the bread had been cooked - the cheese inside was gummy and unappealing. Other than the casual "sorry" from the cashier no one came by even when one of the owners came upstairs to talk to another customer. We were practically permanent fixtures in their dining room waiting for food. I'm sure it's a great place and we were just there at an "off-time". It has very affordable prices and lots of customers coming and going - so clearly it's very popular. If you're on the road and looking for a quick bite this isn't the place. My kids genuinely thought they'd have eaten food faster if they just waited for Rifle and they're not wrong.

This place... wtf?…read more It's a tent attached to a semi-permanent structure. How do they even lock it up at night? The food was waaay overpriced for said structure. I ordered a martini and the waitress spilled it all over our table... didn't wipe it up... didn't offer me another. The Caesar salad dressing was sweet? My husband's food was fine, but this is like the only restaurant in town and it's a joke. The ambiance is "trying to be a restaurant" but let's be honest, it isn't. It's a glorified food tent with steakhouse pricing. I guess if you randomly wind up in a stupid little town called Silt, it's a "restaurant" per se.

I ordered the smoked trout appetizer... and it was so good that I completely forgot to take a photo before it disappeared. That should tell you everything you need to know.
