The riverboat is an old-fashioned paddleboat, straight out a Mississippi River setting. Our Captain met us as we approached the dock. He was very friendly & had a great sense of humor. He gave us some tips & fun facts about the riverboat & made the guests feel very comfortable. The weather was perfect, as we cruised along the calm inland waters of the Manasquan River, with unique perspectives of the beautiful waters and picturesque homes of the Manasquan River. A cash bar was also offered serving wine, beer, soda & juice. They offer other tours, such as a lunch cruise, a Pasta & Fireworks, as well as the 90-minute cruise (which we took). It was a lot of fun & we are looking to do the Pasta & Fireworks cruise next time.

The weather was great..even with the complimentary downpour day to let the skin come off sizzle mode..just perfect. We were a large family group... family coming in from NY, NM, Ca and Germany. We pushed the limits in space but with the backyard patio area, rooftop hot tub soaking deck (special accolades to that), the ocean so close and so many places you could walk, bike, paddle to we never at all came to in your face situations... which we all know with family is usually inevitable. We wanted to do something special for our Mom (Omi) for her birthday so we took Mary Ann and Tom's referral and hired the caterer that they suggested... we did a luau theme and they came to the house with the pig roast complete with Hawaiian veges and salads. I for one was amazed that we actually surprised her but I do believe we really pulled it off. We were initially hesitant to rent because of landowners sharing the same house..but we started our search late and there weren't many options to accommodate our large group so we took the chance. Couldn't have been any farther from the fears we had to reality. Always friendly and helpful.. never intrusive or controlling. By the time we left it felt like we were leaving old friends.... the hot donuts Mary Ann brought us from an old time LBI donut shop, the morning before we left sealed the deal! Our family grew up summers in LBI..staying with friends that owned and/or our family renting for weeks at a time. I think I can speak for our family in saying we came home that week. A wonderful magical place in our memories. Lucky me got to share it with my granddaughter while my Mom (Omi) is still with us and oh so big a center of our family. 4 generations of LBI addicts.... what better place to enjoy family!

Entrees: Pan seared scallops with polenta -- the scallops were nice and tender and seared very nicely. We shared the Bruschetta Burrata ($20), which was good but they gave us only 4 small slices of toasts. My friend and I both thought they should have given 6 minimum, especially because 2 of them had huge hole in the middle so did it even count? lol For main I ordered a Prime Burger ($22) and my friend a Creamy Cajun Alfredo with Shrimp ($38). We genuinely loved our food. The space was large and spaced out. There was a 360 bar in the middle of the space. We started with the bread, a focaccia, which was served with an olive oil that had a large roasted garlic in it. It was a delicious starter, and complimented our Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was 'different' - aren't they all? I've been experiencing very different types - the one tonight had a subtle dressing - with a subdued sweetness. The grated Parmesan and Breadcrumbs smothered the salad - when you see the picture, you'll understand. It was a good salad, however I would have preferred less grating and more dressing. Next up, the Waygu Meatballs, in a delicious San Marzano tomato sauce. The meatballs were excellent. I was mystified by the accompanying 'jar' of 'basil' ricotta. See attached picture-it's a large amount of ricotta - I tasted it - it was very creamy but the basil was faintly noticeable. I added a little to a meatball and it didn't enhance the 'bite' at all. I was embarrassed leaving this large jar of cheese. We shared the two entrees - the first, Sea Bass on a bed of mashed potatoes was cooked perfectly and had the most delicate taste. It was 'too delicate', if there is such a thing as- for they say, ' good fish, doesn't taste like fish '. However, the fish needed seasoning or sauce - one or the other, or both. The next entree was the mushroom house made ravioli - a tender pasta with a mushroom filling covered in a creamy, earthy mushroom sauce. We also ordered a side of sautéed wild mushrooms and added those to the ravioli - it was a wonderful dish.
