The restaurant was decorated as you would expect a good Cajun restaurant to be decorated in. Service was nice and friendly and you order at the register and they bring your food to you. Service was great even after we got our food. A server asked us if we needed refills and if we wanted them in to-go cups, which scored bonus points with me! Here's what I had on this lunch visit: The crawfish pistollette (8/10) which was a small appetizer that was bread with some crawfish etouffee on top. Bread was nicely cooked and the etouffee on top was delicious. Solid starter! The Cajun Cooking Sampler (9/10) - this was a sampler with 3 amazing dishes. I got the shrimp and crab gumbo, which is classic Louisiana gumbo and it was outstanding! The sampler also had a bowl of crawfish etouffee which was good but felt it needed a bit more etoufee to mix with the rice. Lastly, the special of the day was fish courtbouillon which was a fish in tomato based sauce over rice. I really enjoyed this as the fish has a great texture and there was a lot of flavor in the sauce. Overall, solid lunch meal in the $ to $$ range depending on what you order. Recommend you trying it for a great Cajun experience!

Raw oysters were excellent also. Fried fish was good(average), could be thicker fillets though. Sweet potato fries and Crab cakes were good. Service was second to none. The interior is also big and very tidy! There was a small welcoming staff there to greet us. The grilled oysters were topped with chopped peppers and bacon bits - came out hot and the oysters were plump and big! Very very tasty! It was about 30$ for a dozen oysters - so quite affordable for the size of oysters. Great bite and starter. I ordered the Atchafalaya, which had fried catfish and crawfish etouffee gravy smothered on top. The rice was a bit underdone which made the over taste of the dish not as cohesive. The crawfish pieces were abundant, but slightly mushy. The sweet potato fried side dish that came with the dish was perfect though - soft interior and slightly crisp exterior. The portion size was huge and I wasn't able to finish the dish. I'd definitely recommend trying the oysters on the menu, and next time, I'll need to try the fresh oysters!

We arrived just a couple minutes after their 11 a.m. opening, and the place was already packed, a good sign in itself. Luckily, with only three of us, the hostess got us seated at a table right away. The exterior isn't much to look at, but stepping inside tells a different story. The interior has a sports bar meets old school diner vibe, with decor that gives the whole place a nostalgic, lived-in charm. We all decided on the Darrell's Special sandwich with jalapeño mayo, and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was fantastic the whole meal, constantly checking in, keeping our drinks filled, and making sure we didn't need anything else. Despite how busy the place was, our sandwiches came out in a surprisingly short time. The sandwich itself is a beast! A toasted, loaded bun stacked with ham, turkey, and roast beef (which I hear is made in-house), all topped with roast beef gravy, American, Swiss, and provolone cheeses, lettuce, mustard, and your choice of regular or jalapeño mayonnaise, of course we had the Jalapeño Mayo. The first bite reminded me of a warm French dip, but that impression quickly gave way to layers of different meat flavors, rounded out by the subtle heat of the jalapeño mayo. It practically melted in my mouth. Honestly, I wanted to finish the whole thing, but I didn't want to need to be rolled out of the building, so I boxed up the second half and enjoyed it again for dinner. Great food, great service, and now I understand what all the buzz was about.

The menus are on the table but you really don't need a menu here since there are only a few items. Everyone comes here for po-boys obviously and they have a few to choose from. The top 2 choices are the most common, the special and the surf and turf. To me, what makes a good po-boy, is the bread....like many other sandwiches. If you have great bread, you're usually making a good sandwich. I tried the small special, while the rest of the table tried either the special or surf and turf. They don't have a formal kids menu, but they just have either PB&J or grilled cheese. We tried the grilled cheese. My fav ended up being the surf and turf due to it being cleaner to eat and more variety of taste and texture between the bread. I liked the special, but I forgot to ask the server to remove the American cheese, so it made it taste funny and would have been better without it.

We got the Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, and the Pad KraPrao. Overall the food tasted good, not great. My biggest complaint is that the peanut sauce was something I've never seen (as in DID NOT LIKE) seen. It's some kind of clear liquid thing. They could buy peanut sauce in the Asian section at any grocery store and it would be better. Next was the Pad Thai. It was good, but it feels like they are more worried about the spice level than the quality of the dish. Lastly was the Pad KraPrao. I have eaten at too many Thai restaurants to count, and they all serve this dish the same way: rice on the bottom and the PKP on top. Nice and easy. This place served it (and all the dishes I saw) like Chinese food: Two huge plates, one with rice and one with the PKP. That coupled with the taste (not very good) means that I will not order that again. I will give them another chance. I'll take my own peanut sauce for the spring rolls, and pick a recommendation off of these other reviews.

The butter they serve with the bread has small pieces of course sea salt in it which was divine! It was the best bread and butter I have ever had hands down. For our meal, we ordered the beef wellington and brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious! The servings are large enough to split, especially after the bread and wine. The restaurant is tucked away in a corner of the casino. You have to pass a shop and then a pizza by the slice place to get there. The restaurant is waterside, so the view is pretty. I recommend this place for special occasions. The atmosphere alone is impressive, but then when you add the service and the food, you will be wowed!

The only slot available was 9:30, but it worked out perfectly--we got to enjoy the casino, play a few tables, and then head straight into dinner. From the moment we arrived, the night felt special. We were greeted warmly and taken to a private room, which was an incredible touch that set the tone for the whole evening. Pro tip: if you're coming with a larger group, ask about the private dining option--it really elevates the entire experience. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. We had a team of servers who were gracious, kind, and full of great recommendations--both for the restaurant and around Lake Charles. They felt less like staff and more like friends who wanted to make sure we had the best possible night. And then, of course, the food. Top notch. World class. Sure, it's not one of Gordon Ramsay's Michelin-starred spots, but it delivers. We started with Gordon's famous lobster risotto, and good Lord... I've seen this dish on Hell's Kitchen a million times, but tasting it in person is something else entirely. Rich, perfectly balanced, and deeply satisfying--honestly, if you came here just for that one dish, you'd leave happy. For mains, some of us ordered steaks, others tried the pork chops or salmon, and I had to go with Gordon's specialty--the Beef Wellington. You can immediately see why this is his signature. It's such an intricate, technically demanding dish, but when all those layers come together, the flavor is unlike anything else. Truly a showstopper. Every plate was spot on, perfectly cooked, and generous in portion size. Nobody left disappointed, and a few of us couldn't even finish. The sides--from the brussels sprouts to the mac & cheese--were just as impressive. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Since it was a celebration, the restaurant surprised us with a special dessert for the groom-to-be, and we also ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding. If you know, you know--it's rich, decadent, and absolutely unforgettable. All in all, Gordon Ramsay Steak made the bachelor party night feel extraordinary. If I lived closer (and if my bank account could handle it, ha!) I'd be back all the time. As it stands, this will go down as one of those meals we'll all be talking about for years.
