I've stayed at the STL Westin Downtown on and off for almost two years. There are many benefits to this location: ballpark right out side your window, private parking lot, Avis rental facility on-site, Marriott club with great snacks, and easy walk to a variety of downtown eateries. There aren't many reasons to stay and eat at the Westin, however, although I have done so several times (out of sheer laziness). For Yelp reviewers who doubt the pizza is handmade, I've watched the guy press out the dough and even cook it in the brick oven. Unfortunately, the resulting pie leaves a lot to be desired. If a need a happy hour drink or don't mind waiting for mediocre food, Quattro Trattoria is your place. read more

If you are going to Busch Stadium to catch a Cardinals game, this place is great to stop at before, during, or after. While there happy hour does not apply during game days, it is still ideal. The list of draft beers on tap are very good. I ordered the 4 Hands Scale of Complexity NE IPA recommended by our server. It was so good that I had to order it twice. The pizza was really good but not great. The meatball pizza doesn't seem like it would mix well but I was pleasantly surprised. The ricotta cheese, banana peppers, and sausage all blended swimmingly. The margherita pizza is truly a testament of how good an Italian restaurant's pizza is. The margherita pizza was good but not great. The red sauce was tasty but the tomatoes were not fresh. The crust was crunchy, not over or undercooked. I would recommend dining at this place. Especially if you are going to a game at Busch Stadium. I arrived at the hotel, checked in, and grabbed a late lunch here before meetings began. There were more staff in the restaurant than patrons, but service was uneven at best. I had a question about one item on the menu (a pasta dish - I thought a simple question about the shape/type of pasta that was used in several of the options) and they bounced the question around to three people before they were able to answer. The food was pretty good (but definitely not great, and definitely not bad). When I finished my meal, they brought the check, but it took a really long time before they came back to collect/run the card for payment. It wasn't great weather when I arrived at the hotel, so thought that the hotel restaurant would be an easy/quick/good option - but I wish I'd ventured out to see what else was out there. read more

Truly good food from a hotel lobby bar area! We recommend the strip steak and white pizza (learned adding the sausage was the way to go on our way back through buy honestly great both ways). Hard to enter because they lock the doors from the formal restaurant entrance after dark so go thru the main Westin hotel entrance. Service was friendly and prompt. She even took the pizza off when I let her know it wasn't cooked the right way. I pre-empt this review with the fact that I am New York City dweller. I now live in NH but was born there and grew up there. This Margherita pizza was well undercooked and trying to be acceptable to New York standards (quality ingredients were present) but it was reminiscent of a Chicago deep dish pizza. It should be thinner and crispier not overly cheesy and doughy--pleeeeasse!! Also let's not forget some salt and pepper the basics people! The salad was done well. Great fresh mozz and arugula and balsamic glaze. The only complaint there was that prosciutto should be soft and silky. Silky is not how one would describe this prosciutto as I can tell it was hardened in parts like it came off a sheet presliced prebought refridgerated situation as it dried out a bit in spots. Mad props to the server who took the pizza off my bill super nice of her to do! I will give them a try next time since the salad was very good and I can tell they have quality ingredients just need to execute a bit better. read more

The food for a hotel is very very good. I had the Smashburger twice and also had the wings as well as a salmon salad and a chicken salad on other occasions as I was here for four straight days. A Solid Hotel Restaurant for a Quick and Convenient Bite. I was staying at the Westin for a business trip, waiting for my room to be ready and it was close enough to lunch. I started off with the Toasted Ravioli ($8) with marinara sauce and it came out quick. It was sprinkled with parmesan cheese and tasted good. My only recommendation would be to cook them for one minute less, so they do not come out softer. I also ordered the Pollo Panini ($14), a grilled chicken breast, with baby spinach, heirloom tomato, fontina, and pesto. The sandwich was solid, good taste, and could have used more pesto. However, the side... a fennel and orange slaw, was tremendous! Never had anything like it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have ordered a couple more sides! Overall, this was a good restaurant that served its purpose, coupled to a hotel. You can come down for a convenient, good meal for lunch or dinner. read more

We went and got seated right away. We didn't have our server show up right away so we had time to review the menu. By the time she showed up she stated what do we want. No name or anything else. We ordered our drinks and then she asked if we wanted food. We ordered an appetizer and our meal. 2 sandwich's and a pizza. The sandwiches came out with the appetizer. We finished the sandwiches and the pizza was still not put in the oven. We were there for over an hour and the pizza still was not there. While we were waiting a cart full of tables were pushed through and dropped. The staff cussed. After an hour of waiting with no luck of finding out when pizza was going to be done, we left. Server had no sense of urgency and kept forgetting to check on the pizza. The manager apologized however still couldn't give any eta when we spoke with her at the hour mark for the pizza. I hate writing feedback during Covid. Is the restaurant bad due to Covid issues or is it always bad? In this case, it was bad. Went for breakfast. Took forever to come get our order. We asked about iced tea and he brought some. It was sweet and we told him we didn't want sweet. He apologized. Still on the bill. Ordered basically the egg breakfast. Over easy with toast. The whites were runny and the yolks were hard. That takes some skill. Toast didn't show up until we were done with breakfast. I ordered wheat and my wife ordered white. We both got wheat. Waiter offered to replace but since we had waited for 15 minutes for the 1st set, we just ate the toast. Waiter just seemed overwhelmed. I came here for a work lunch. It's was cold out, almost too cold, the kind of cold that makes you think Mother Nature is mad at you. Not Chill. The food is great. My younger child is picky and loved the cheese pizza! Ate it twice ,while we were here. My oldest loved the buffalo mild wings ,he ordered twice as well. I often think hotel restaurants get some unfair reviews and have low ratings, but I trust Westin properties and decided to give this one a try for lunch. I was seated immediately (it was pretty quiet) and everyone was very attentive. I ordered soup and a sandwich. Honestly my only complaint is that the soup came out two minutes before the sandwich. I felt like I waited forever for soup then of course the rest of the food followed right away. I did enjoy the food a lot, so I have nothing bad to say about the food. Decent new place located in the Westin near the baseball stadium. The drinks list is pretty good and the food pretty decent. Our favorite orders were pizza and fried polenta. All in all a pretty good place to meet with friends before or after a game. read more

We were disappointed that the restaurant changed. The food was decent. Directions were not followed at all. Toasted ravioli was delicious. Salad was nicely done. Issues came to plain pasta..... oil with basil is not plain pasta. It was good but greasy pasta wasn't what we wanted. Plain steamed asparagus's was greasy as well. That's not steamed with nothing on it. The last blunder was there was a HAIR in my sons blueberry. The waiter sort of had an attitude and was in a rush to take our order. I made a 6:30 reservation because I was in the area and wanted to try something new. We waited more than 5 minutes at the hostess desk and nobody came. I walked past the hostess desk so I could eyeball the bartender and after a few minutes she told us we could sit at a table and someone would bring us menus. The table she directed us to hadn't been wiped down yet but we sat and waited. And waited. And I went in search of the restroom which I found all the way across the hotel lobby. When I came back, I noticed no one had brought menus so I snagged two from the hostess desk. My friend and I read the entire menu and still no one showed up. The bartenders were working their 5 customers and there was one other table of three that were eating their pizza but no one ever came by to help us. From reading the menu, I can tell you that their pizzas were the only thing not overpriced. Finally, we decided that if we didn't want to starve to death at a dirty table, we better get going to somewhere else. Unless you plan to work up an appetite while waiting for service, don't bother with this place. The bartender will only pay attention if you are 80 years old, rich, and possibly marriageable because she has to pay her bills. Or, in my case, if you stare her down hardcore from across the room.
