Update to my earlier review. A day after I posted my review, Clark Knapp Honda reached out to me to clarify the issue . They were completely unaware of the problem and extremely keen to rectify it. They apologized for the lack of communication and immediately refunded my money. It would appear that their automated messaging system has its faults, but once they were finally aware of the problem they moved to fix it straight away. I thank them for that. Shop around if you are planning on getting your vehicle serviced at Clark Knapp Honda. I learned the hard way how much this dealership overcharges its customers. I agreed to getting transmission service done along with my scheduled oil change (Maintenance Minder 3 - for 2022 Honda Pilot) and opted to wait at dealership while service got done. While I waited I got on the Honda app and decided to check price at Gilman Honda. I was shocked by the price difference on the exact same service. Clark Knapp Honda was charging me $415 while Gilman Honda had price of $259. I thought that must be an error so I called Gillman Honda and service rep quoted me an even lower price of $229!!! By the time a confirmed the price I went looking for my service rep to cancel transmission service but unfortunately I was too late since they were finishing up with my vehicle. The service advisor Susan was the sweetest person and tried to get something done to help me out but unfortunately her service manager Mr. Mojica didn't seem to care much about doing anything for a long time customer. I guess Mr. Mojica knew I had already had service done and not much I could do about it myself. This has definitely left me feeling very unappreciated and somewhat scammed as a long time customer (I have been a loyal Clark Knapp Honda customer and bought 5 vehicles for myself throughout the years and have even gotten my mother in law and brother in law to purchase 4 vehicles from Clark Knapp). Unfortunately I have to say that this will definitely change going forward. My family and I will remain loyal to Hondas but will definitely not be doing business with Clark Knapp. So once again if you are looking at getting service done at Clark Knapp Honda do yourself a favor and shop around and get prices from Gillman Honda and even Honda of Brownsville you could save yourself a lot of $$$ since Clark Knapp Honda seems to be ok with charging customers over $150 what other dealership charge for the saw service. read more

It all starts with customer service . If you don't treat customers with respect. You loose big time. We received a message on the phone from a Honda dealer. (We did not see where it came from; except that it was from Honda) the message said it was time to take the SUV for service. So we call the dealer in McAllen and made an appointment. . We went to the appointment as scheduled, and when we arrived we were surprised because the people in the service dept told me that they couldn't take the car. I was real surprised; and they told me I had to wait until it had less than 15% of oil. And my SUV was under 30 % of oil , at that time. Nobody had told me that I had to check amount of oil being left in the vehicle before making an appointment. I asked to talk to the store manager, and got the same answer . That it has been always been that way. I have more than 30 years taking my cars to service and it was always by number of miles. I waisted my morning because no one from Honda ever told us the way it works now. Maybe they need to train their employees on what to say and more important how to give a decent customer service. read more

This dealer prays on unsuspecting customers with their bad practices. Dealer charged my partner several thousand extra for "Cijajet" interior / exterior coating protection package. This is a total scammy add on and when I tried to call to make a claim cijajet seemed surprised I was calling them since the coating package they added to his car probably doesn't exist as they couldn't even explain to me what the actual product name or specification actually was. The dealer financed his loan with an excessively high interest rate, more than 10%! And to top it off, sold him a 5yr extended warranty on a 2 year old certified car, but made the start date the original in service date of the car - shorting him two years of coverage. I tried to call and get his money back but they refused on both the protection package and the warranty. Do your homework, check and research all charges on your invoice (don't pay for "other fees", negotiate the dealer doc fee to be below the Texas state max of ~$225) and shop around for financing and avoid this dealer, save yourself a lot of money and trouble. read more

Went in for a simple oil change at 10:45am and was attended by Armando Reyes. Complete disaster. He told me since I didn't have an appointment he could have it ready by 5:30pm at best. I ask how many vehicles in front of me and refused to check. Told me customers with appointments were priority. Absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. I advise clark Knapp to send its service advisors to customer service training so they don't have to hire people like Armando to attend the people you sell to. read more

They told me they had two of the vehicles I was looking for on the lot, then I was told they were sold during the two hours I drove to the lot... Love Honda products. We purchased New 2019 Polit 3 years ago. Battery went bad 2 weeks after warranty expired @ 36.5 months. I asked dealer for any assistance because we thought it was too early for it to go bad. Both service manager and GM made minimal effort to assist. Their only answer was that it was out of warranty. Manager claimed to call Honda on my behalf, however when I called HONDA they had no update. I normally buy my cars in HOU or SA but gave this dealer a chance. I have never felt that they go above and beyond to treat their customers "as family' as they claim. I (was) planning to trade in my pilot to them for upgrade when new model comes out. They would have made more $ off my trade than whatever discount they could have given me on battery. A $250 battery will not break me, but it sure leaves a bad taste when it goes bad 2 weeks after warranty and they show no empathy. read more

TO: Whom it May Concern RE: Order #74812 from Hondapartsonline.net This post is to inform you that your 15-day return policy will not indemnify you for shipping out an obviously damaged transmission cooler as new. In addition to being wrong, unless we resolve this quickly you will discover that it is quite illegal. At your request, the shipper has returned the part back to you and you have been in possession of it since 3/9/21: it is no surprise that the shipper will not assume responsibility for the $300 damaged part. As I both wrote and showed Lupe (pics), the shipping box was undamaged and there is no reason to suspect any damage in transit. There is a complete record of our email dialog and pictures. Cesar said on the phone that he had spoken to Honda about the part (why?). I only know that the cooler came out of the box damaged, bent and creased. Again, it did not appear to have been damaged in transit as the shipping box was not damaged and had no marks. My mechanic believes that the cooler is not dependable, and I will not accept it. As a senior, and retired law enforcement, I will not tolerate this sort of treatment. Be advised that unless you agree to replace it with an undamaged cooler very soon, I will buy elsewhere and initiate litigation for a refund on the part as well as damages/costs. read more

Being an out of town buyer, both of these guys kept me well-informed and ensured that the car buying process would be as smooth as possible, both before and after I arrived to the dealership to view the vehicle. We were looking at the model inside the building, right next to everyone's workspace. I realize that my husband and I look very young and probably the way we dress doesn't reflect our income. I am giving this dealership 1 star since it is not possible to give it 0 stars! They do not even deserve the 1-star. I was looking for a specific pre-owned truck and this dealership had exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, since I live in CA and the truck was in Texas, I relied on the sales team to inspect the vehicle and provide all the details as to what was wrong with the truck (it was pre-owned, so there were going to be a few things that needed attention). I even paid another dealership to fully inspect this truck since it was not a Honda. Long story short, the truck was grossly misrepresented. I have texts and pictures from the sales team that clearly stated there were just a few things that needed attention. In addition, the inspection reports show the truck was nearly perfect. What a farse. When the truck arrived to CA (after I paid nearly $2000 to ship it across Country), we discovered thousands of dollars of items that needed to be repaired/addressed (non-working brake lights, cracked windshield, non-working seatbelts, etc). All things that would have been easily identifiable during visual inspections. After speaking with the GM of this dealership, the attitude was "too bad" - you purchased the truck "as is" and should have told us to do a more through inspection. I am looking into pursuing this on the legal front since the truck was misrepresented and some of the items are truly safety concerns, which according to the GM, did not need to be addressed since Texas Law doesn't require it (really, Texas Law doesn't require working brake lights or working seatbelts?!?!?). The only good thing about this experience is that I have a truck that is NOW perfect, after spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to bring it up to standards. I would avoid this dealership at all costs. read more

This is in regards to theirs parts department. Very shady business practice, probably just dumb employees, Texans go figure. If you order an item that their website says is in stock, they'll send you a vague email saying the item is discontinued and the order is dalayed, nowhere that you won't be receiving it still or instructions to contact them back to cancel or edit the order. End up receiving half my parts for a rebuild, can't really finish the rebuild as I ordered all these parts under the assumption they had it in stock bc nobody else did. Now they want to stick me with paying shipping and 35% restocking fee, bunch of crooks. Hope their entire business goes under. read more

This review is more for honda service and not sales. I brought my 2008 honda civic here for paint warranty issues. After waiting outside for almost 10 minutes I was approached by the service manager who told me the honda service rep is out of town and will be back in two weeks to take a look at the car. I was already aware of the process due to honda forums. I asked the manager why he couldn't just submit my claim to honda and he said the only way is to wait for the honda rep in 2 weeks. I asked if the other honda dealership (Gillman honda) which was 45 minutes away would be the same situation and he sated yes. Out of curiosity I went to Gillman honda anyways. The service manager there took my vin number and assessed the car and immediately told me "when do you want to drop it so we can perform the warranty work?" I delivered the car the next day and Gillman honda took great care of me. read more

Wonderful car buying experience here! We had an awful experience at Gillman Honda in San Benito so decided to make the drive to Pharr to see what Clark Knapp could offer. My husband and I walked into Clark Knapp with a salty taste in our mouth from our recent experience at the other dealership, expecting to have to walk out disappointed again. Clark Knapp Honda exceeded our expectations! Totally different atmosphere and level of customer service. Our salesman Jean was AWESOME! Very personable and customer oriented. He never made us feel uncomfortable or pressured throughout the buying process and listened to our concerns. We were able to come to a price on the car we wanted that we were comfortable with and felt was fair. He new we were crunched for time and helped us get out of there in our new car as quickly as possible. He even offered to schedule our service appointments in the future. We are so happy with our purchase and couldn't have asked for a better salesman! read more

Bought a vehicle from this dealership and it was what I thought a smooth transaction. I traded in a vehicle which had its payment due within the week. I mentioned to the financial representative that the payment for thE. While I was trading in was due in a week. He advices me not to pay for it. He stated that the dealership would pay the remaining balance within 48 hours. This should of all cleared up within 5 working days. I come to find out 2 weeks later hat they had not payed off he vehicle I traded in. I contacted the financial rep and he said he would take care of it. During this time I was in the process of purchasing a house. A month had passed by this time. While applying for a house loan it was discovered that I was delinquent on payments for the vehicle I traded in. I contacted the manager multiple times and of no avail. I was redirected at least 5 times and never received a phone call back from the manager of Clark Knapp Honda/Chevrolet. As a last resort I contacted Corporate Honda and filed a grievance with this dealership. Would I purchase a vehicle from this dealership again....NO. read more

To be honest I had never purchased a car outside of the I-hope-this-car-isn't-a-lemon-but-I-have-faith-in-humanity section of Craigslist. Given that I don't have the best credit, I was apprehensive and nervous. I was able to purchase a beautiful car and experienced excellent customer service. Josh Forrester (lovely, nice human) introduced me to Ben Garza (also awesome). Ben was able to assist me in finding the best deal for me. Pete Garza helped me to finance my beautiful baby by sticking by my side and finding the best bank to assist me in financing the vehicle (my baby). I was there for a few hours (perks: they have a lot of coffee) and was able to people watch. It's a lovely environment with positive people. The guys at the AllState also hooked me up with insurance, and were really down to earth. I'm really grateful these gentleman worked with and for me. read more

I've been going here to service my Honda since moving here in 2008. However, on 9/21/2019 the service department over charged me for service after I was quoted from intake service person of the price for an oil change. However when checking out my car after completion of service they over charged me $16. The problem I trusted the service person when paying and did not look closely at the bill when told what I owed because they convinced me also change my engine filter so the final cost wasn't explained and I didn't review the bill as I should before I paid the bill. When I got home and reviewed the bill and noticed the over charge I called and left a detailed message on the service managers voice mail with no returned call. Then I got a survey text asking me if I was satisfied with the service I had and called to speak to the manager and the receptionist said she would write a request/note to return my call.As of 9/26/2019 I have not had the pleasure of discussing this with the service manager. I am going to need more service on my car and I expect a credit and/or discount on future services. I believe the service mgr tried to call me on his way out of the office for the day last Friday which was convenient for him since I didn't take his call and he probably went home for the weekend. $16 might not be much but it's the principle and the dealership needs to be have better practices of customer service in a business dependent on customers who purchase a product they also service. They are not the only game in town and making a lot of sales isn't your only end game. Gilman Honda might be worth the drive!! read more

This review pertains to the Honda service not sales. I have gone/contacted them for 2 separate things which my Honda CRV needed. My first experience was due to needed rear differential oil. I called them and they told me they had 4 in stock and I could go for them on the following day. As they requested, I went to get the oil first thing in the morning, as a matter of fact, I waited for them to open there on location. I am then told they do not have any on stock. I am told I was misinformed yesterday when I called them. I ask them to call Gillman Honda in San Benito. They told me Gillman Honda was closed. I called Gillman Honda and they told me they were open and they had several in stock. I went to San Benito to purchase the needed oil. The Gillman service personnel was great. They were puzzled as for Clark Knapp Honda not have sufficient differential oil in stock and apologized for their lack of supply. Gillman Honda expressed being embarrassed about the lack of service provided by Knapp Honda and me having to travel to San Benito for the oil. Gillman Honda gave a good discount for my troubles. My second experience was when I called Clark Knapp Honda to have the airbags replaced. I called them and the lady tells me they are very busy. She requested my telephone number and they would call me back. I have not heard them them whatsoever. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. read more

After 2 weeks and thousands of dollars, the initial problem I was having with the car has still not been resolved despite the service manager claiming it had been. The paint on my 2014 Honda Pilot started peeling back in November of 2016. I took it in to the Service Department at the end of November. I spoke with the Service Manager and he took pictures of the problem. Didn't hear back from him or any representative so I returned in mid December. Their excuse was they lost the pictures. So I went back and the Service Manager then sent me to the collision center to get pictures of the peeled paint again. By early January no one had returned my calls, or made any attempts to contact me so I once again reached out to them. The Service Manager's response was people were on vacation. My response, of course, was "it's been since November". The Service Manager got back to me and told me I was out of warranty and therefore they were not going to take care of my Pilot. They lost the documentation, wouldn't return my calls and after all that, that's all I got. I even met with the Store manager and his response was "let me get you into a new car". I was finally able to speak to the District Service Manager and her attitude was very nonchalant. I explained the situation. She stated I should have taken my vehicle in for "service". What?? Really! What does an oil change, tire rotation, or any other mechanical concern have to do with paint peeling off the roof of the SUV? Great sales people, worst service experience! read more
