It's atrocious that they can't follow HIPAA guidelines or hold family conferences to provide updates on patient care for out-of-state members. It's like putting the sole responsibility on the patient for inviting them, when it's their responsibility. Geez, what a crap shot administrative concept, and the communication is questionable. From day one of my mother's stay for rehabilitation, they were given my phone number as well as my email address to track her progress. Since they don't have a patient portal where you can review documents, this feat was difficult for them to even comprehend. Let's say it's more about chasing after them to see anything given, maybe only at the time of discharging the patient, in a fury. It was evident from day one, stepping in to help my mother, that I questioned the operational integrity. I tried to reach the Director of Clinical Services, but her voicemail was out until 01/26/26. It was already February 15th, and it never got changed, though supposedly she was there. I questioned whether they ever had operational or staffing meetings to get everyone on the same page (?). Either way, after all the caustic situations with her at Glacier Hills Rehabilitation/Trinity Health, we decided to file a Grievance, and now I'm waiting to receive the documentation from the Corporate Office in Livonia, Michigan, from Julie Winkel, Corporate Administrator. I feel lucky that we filed a Medicare Appeal referencing non-quality care, which hopefully they'll get a State Audit.

If your parents get ill (with, say, Covid), they will can force you to hire externally someone to watch over your parents 24/7, at great cost. In truth, they should be employing people to do this, but again, then though don't make as much money for the investors, so they don't hire enough people They can also block re-entry of someone if they have to go to the hospital, and unlike some places, it is NOT an "end-of-life" facility (again--read the fine print). She has enjoyed all the activities and her new friends. The staff are kind, loving and engaged with the residents. The Director, Activities Director, and caregivers go above and beyond what would normally be expected. I feel inclined to write another review during this time of COVID 19, a pandemic that no one could have predicted or be prepared for. During this time of isolation, it is difficult and depressing for many residents. First and foremost Atria immediately protected their residents health with everything in their power. Then, the challenge of keeping them engaged, connected and happy began. I can not speak highly enough about this team. Their creativity, joy and fun have been contagious to the residents! Thank you for coming in everyday and for loving my mom when I can not be with her. I can not thank you enough!

With the exception a few care staff and kitchen staff who were compassionate as is staff member one being named Z and the other Ameriline the rest of the team appears untrained and disengaged. While they may smile, the nursing staff behavior is often aggressive, and they routinely ignore alarms and resident concerns. The cleanliness of the rooms is unacceptable--dirty laundry is left on the shower seat . Residents are denied autonomy, including the simple choice to remain in pajamas if they wish; instead, they are forced to dress regardless of their comfort or preference. Most troubling is the lack of personal connection. Staff make no effort to understand who the residents are as individuals, which strips away their dignity and humanity. I witnessed deeply concerning conditions during mealtime, but the list is too long to detail here. They did finally listened and now my mom is comfortable in her pajamas. The most distressing moment was finding my mother undressed, lying sideways in her bed, with two soiled diapers discarded on the floor--and then being confronted by the caregiver when I raised concern. This experience was heartbreaking and unacceptable. I strongly advise against entrusting this facility with the care of a loved one.
