Anyway, I usually go to the Cavehill Road branch and we always get an appointment very quickly. The girl on reception knows all the pets and takes a real interest in them, which is always nice. It's a tiny wee place though, so if you're afraid of any other animals, you could be surrounded by them at close quarters! They have operated on our dog twice and have always taken good care of her. The emergency vet is great too, they ring you straight back and will talk you through any issues on the phone. I would recommend Clare Vet group to look after any pet.

I bring my dog here and although he is a big wimp they really put him at ease - then stick a big needle in him!!! I had him neutered here and they really took good care of him, he was back home in a day and i was able to phone the on call vet for advice later that night. They have special deals for people who are unemployed so they can get animals neutered for free.

We have been to many vets before we moved to the area. I always felt like the vets didn't care it was all a money racket. They pumped our dog full of expensive medication hoping something would work. This is not the case at this practice. Every vet we have seen managed to keep the dog calm while injecting her or prodding at her. They explain why they are doing what they are doing. They don't jump straight to every medication that could be used to treat similar symptoms. Like you would diagnose a human, they proceed with a process of elimination. We (and our bank balance) like this approach. I highly recommend this practice if you are looking for excellent care for your pet.

Last year id spotted a cat in the neighbourhood that looked like a stray and it was shaking and fitting and I picked it up and drove it straight to the vets, it turned out it had been poisoned and wasn't chipped , it was a male cat and didn't need neutered. It pulled through and the vets told me to take it back to where I found it and let it go. I see it sometimes about the place and it looks like its looked after. Relived I didn't end up getting a bill for it , they know me from being in every year though with my mums cat. There's a small shop with pet accessories and foods and my last time there was a cat asleep in one of the pet beds in the shop bit, I thought it was a teddy for a while but it is apparently the resident cat.

We all want the best quality, affordable care for our animals. So I send my dog (a 12 yr old, golden Labrador called Nikki) to Doherty's Vets in Carrickfergus. I have and always will trust them completely. Nikki is always very well looked after, I used to have a moggy cat called Sooty, who during his long life was treated brilliantly too. Unfortunately it was here where Sooty passed away, in my dads arms, very sad :( , but Mr Doherty was brilliant and kind and compassionate. I'll never forget him for that. All the staff are very caring, gentle with the animals and seem very kind, they're patient and from what I've seen they're all very knowledgeable. Mr Doherty offers a range of services including treating small animals and pets, offers morning, afternoon & evening consultations, a 24 hour emergency call out service, vaccination & neutering, and a clean, sterile veterinary surgery with fully equipped facilities.

It's a good vets and I would recommend it for people in the area. We just felt happier attending the Doherty's clinic but I'm sure everyone has different needs for their pets. Glenburn have been running their surgery in this area for over 20 years and I'm sure they will continue to do so for a long time. I haven't heard any bad stories about them, as is becoming more increasing with vets nowadays. You can depend on Glenburn to be a reliable and friendly surgery where you can be sure your animal will be comfortable. We all know that no pet ever likes the vet but they may as well be comfortable in their surroundings and they certainly are here.

When, inevitably, I caved in, we ended up with a creature with the charming moniker of Jasmine living in our house. I have another name for it, but it's not one that I could possibly relate to you here, or indeed say in front of the kids. It loves nothing more than to stick its claws into my toes. So, we ended up going to Glenburn for all the usual new kitten/pet stuff, and the staff were very nice, and even made light of my opinions of cats. It turns out, however, that our cat has a taste for starting fights with other neighbourhood cats. Jasmine is rubbish at fighting and every time, she sustains a new and interesting injury. We have been to Glenburn about, ooh, once a month in the last year and the staff, and what they charge to repair our useless cat, have been faultless. This sounds more like a review of my awful pet, but should your undoubtedly beloved hamster (or whatever else) have a problem, I guarantee you that the vets here will sort it out, be charming to you, and not charge you a king's ransom.

They have modern up to date equipment, decent sized waiting room, nice dispensary. Reasonably priced, and very trustworthy. The best vetinary service we have had, and we have tried other practices locally. Cant fault them and the staff all make a potentially very distressing time, easier to deal with. We have our full confidence in all the team of vets, vet nurses, receptionists etc, and highly recommend them.

My Dog Tiffany and I were lucky to have 15 years together. Tiffany was a tiny Yorkshire terrier…read morethat I brought here from New York when I moved to Donaghadee. I knew the day would come when I would have to say goodbye to her and I dreaded that day. When Tiffany got ill I brought her to Dr Michael Watts and he immediately made a connection with her and with me. He is not the "white coat" vet I'm used to and I felt he was the most genuine, honest and down to earth vet I ever met. He was soft spoken, kind and caring. For a week I came every day to his clinic and he watched over Tiffany, evaluated her and gave her medication to ease her pain. When a week went by and her condition started to spiral downwards, Dr Watts was honest and softly told me, " it's time to say good bye" - words I knew were coming but did not want to hear. Although I took her home one last time, I realized I could not let her suffer any more and I called Dr Watts. He immediately cleared his schedule and I came to his clinic. He gave me the time to spend with her and when the moment was right he gave her pain relief and she went to sleep in my arms, like she always loved to do and had done for the past 15 years. I know the passing of Tiffany was unavoidable, however I felt lucky that her last moments were in the hands of Dr Watts. I will never forget his kind, professional and gentle ways and the sense he gave me that my dog was in good hands and I couldn't ask for a better ending to the most beautiful and loving dog, Tiffany. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU Dr Michael Watts.
