We had a reservation for Mother's Day brunch at Clara's Table and it turned into a complete disaster. The brunch setup made almost no sense from the moment we sat down. It was a $90 per person prix fixe, and to be clear, this was Mother's Day brunch -- we fully expected to spend money and have a nice experience. That was never the issue. What was baffling was how outrageously poorly thought out the entire setup felt, with such a lack of logic, attention to detail, and operational planning behind any of it. The brunch itself was apparently a buffet PLUS one entrée per person. The buffet already included an omelet station, waffle station, pastries, etc., while the entrée menu had things like burgers, turkey clubs, scrambled eggs, shakshuka, and other basic brunch items. The confusing part is that the exact same entrée items could basically just be ordered separately for around $30 total on the regular menu. I genuinely do not understand who is ordering an omelet or a waffle from the buffet and then adding a turkey club or even MORE eggs on top of that. The entire concept felt like someone combined two different brunch ideas together without thinking through how people actually eat. So what exactly was the $90 paying for? Not drinks. Not sides. Hash browns, toast, and other basics were still extra. Drinks were extra too. Judging by the chaos around the restaurant, we clearly weren't the only people confused. Waiters and waitresses were aimlessly wandering around carrying random dishes trying to figure out where they belonged. We got a burger delivered to our table twice by two different people even though nobody at our table ordered a burger. Eventually we just ordered off the regular menu because it literally made more sense. That's when the experience completely fell apart. 2 out of 4 people at our table never received their food after 2.5 hours. One person finally got eggs, toast, and bacon after about 45 minutes... completely cold. At that point we honestly just wanted to leave because we had other Mother's Day plans and felt trapped waiting for basic breakfast food. After about 2 hours we finally managed to get someone's attention. Staff acknowledged the situation but then disappeared again for another 30 minutes. It genuinely started feeling like we were being held hostage at a brunch table. The manager eventually came out and comped the one cold egg dish plus the shakshuka. Unfortunately the shakshuka itself was terrible, which is especially disappointing in a Middle Eastern area known for great food. One egg was completely overcooked and cold, almost like a random poached egg got thrown in by accident, while the other egg was seemingly fresh cracked and not cooked -- I'm not kidding, it literally felt like someone cracked a raw egg straight from the carton onto the shakshuka. Something was obviously wrong beyond just flavor. Another oddly revealing moment: when I ordered the "soft scrambled eggs," the response I got back was: "How do you want your eggs done?" ...I said "scrambled." It sounds minor, but it perfectly summed up the entire experience. Nobody seemed familiar with the actual dishes on the menu or how the restaurant was even supposed to operate. This place honestly feels like management window-shops upscale restaurants instead of understanding what actually makes them good. The restaurant was trying to execute a luxury brunch experience without ever learning the operational discipline of even a brand new diner. You are not operating on the level you seem to think you are. If this restaurant wasn't attached to the Ford name and sitting inside a historic building, it would not survive in most other cities. Here's free advice for next year's brunch: Charge $90. Charge $100 if you want. Nobody cares if the experience backs it up. "Omelet station. Bottomless mimosas. Pastries." Done. Delete the novel-length menu. Stop trying to stack five different brunch concepts together. Focus on one core thing and execute it properly. Limit the amount of details, and make each detail perfect. Complete Mother's Day disaster. We will never come back. What makes this even more disappointing is that we actually have many fond memories of Mother's Day brunch at this establishment before the renovation and rebrand. It used to feel like a genuine Dearborn tradition. It's honestly sad to see what this place turned into. They completely destroyed something that people in the area actually loved. read more

We went for Sunday brunch at Clara's Table and honestly ended up having an amazing experience. I came in with a really bad mood because of something personal going on in my life, and I honestly wasn't expecting much that day. But Frida completely changed that. She was absolutely phenomenal from the moment she started helping us incredibly kind, attentive, genuine, and with such a warm energy. She took the time to help me try different wines, made sure everything was perfect, and truly made me feel comfortable and welcomed the entire time. The food was excellent, but Frida's service is what really made the experience special. It's amazing how one person can completely change your mood just by the way they treat people. As guests of the Dearborn Inn, we decided last minute to see if we could dine at Clara's table. We have dietary restrictions, plant based, but spoke to the front of the house host, Khalima. She relayed our information to Chef Claudia and came back quickly to assure us that we could be accommodated. We showed up about 45 minutes later and our server, Dier, made sure to let the chef know we were there. Shortly afterwards our beautiful plates of food were brought out to us. Lovely to behold, and absolutely delicious to enjoy! A very good variety of different types of vegetables, mushrooms, salad, etc. The sauces were incredible!Everyone at the restaurant went out of their way to make sure we were happy and indeed we were! I really wanted to enjoy this meal, especially after a long day, but unfortunately it didn't meet expectations. The short rib was quite tough and reminded me more of an overcooked pot roast than the dish I was hoping for. I also found the cheesecake difficult to enjoy. We came to Clara's Table for a birthday celebration. Chef Elliott's food was magnificent, as was the service and personalized attention. The Assistant Manager, Al, tended to our every need.
