Topppppp TIER! I recently visited my grandmas hometown of Belzoni Mississippi. There's not much there so we drove about 30 mins out to a city named Yazoo! Yazoooooo!! Literally how I felt leaving this place. We walked in and it felt like an old diner from a scene in a movie. We all order med catfish dinners. The food was AHmazingggg. We got catfish, homemade coleslaw, hush puppies and fries. Everything was superb. The service was excellent. A gentleman walked in who I noticed was in a photo on the wall. It was a really cool experience speaking with the locals and complimenting the restaurant on the amazing food. Hope to come back!!! read more

On your way north through Yarzoo City on HWY 49, just as you reach the end of town there is a faded sign with a pig on top that says Clancy's BBQ. If you are hungry don't go past it. Swinging into the parking lot you will find a double wide trailer home that just has an "open" sign in the window. You will question if it's really a restaurant but the smell of smoky goodness will tempt you in. On the walls you will see pictures of aircraft that show the history of crop dusting pilots from the delta. I was with a work colleague looking for lunch and we stumbled into a unique local treasure. I ordered a catfish po boy and my friend went for the pulled pork both with hand cut fries. Each came smothered in coleslaw, BBQ sauce and a vinegar dressing on the table with a small side dish of tartar dressing for my fish. Everything fresh and cooked to perfection, with texture and flavor that delighted at every bite. This is a place well worth a visit if you are ever passing through Yarzoo. read more

My husband really liked the large cheeseburger . It was nicely grilled. The onion rings are really good but they weren't hardly even warm. Club sandwich was excellent. The fries needed to be cooked in hotter grease and have some seasoning applied. Had to ask for napkins and silverware. Place was busy. People were pretty friendly. I feel like I'm eating at someone's house...specifically my parents. There's a table stacked with papers and a box fan right by the door. The decor is basic country restaurant. Sticky vinyl tablecloths and black padded chairs. By the decorations on the walls, they are going for a hunting or aviation vibe. The sweet tea was not great, but not horrible. I got a bar-b-Que sandwich with fries. The sandwich was pretty good, but I think I put too much sauce on it and that took away the taste of the meat. The fries were hand made fried potatoes...just like we make them at home. Very good. My wife got the catfish plate. It came with three pieces of fish, coleslaw, French fries, and hush puppies. I had a piece of the fish and it was good. The slaw was a little spicy which is a nice change. The potatoes were good. The hush puppies were not like we are used to. They were chewy as opposed to dry like corn bread. The service was good. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, and would go back again to try other things on the menu. read more

The food was mediocre. I had the country fried steak with some sort of rice. I say some sort of because to be perfectly honest, it tasted like the milk or whatever cream base they used in the rice, was sour. The steak was under cooked. As a server in a tourist town, Pensacola, Florida at a chain restaurant (Chili's), the service was at best, poor. It took three people to figure out how AND where to seat 8 people in an all but empty restaurant. The remainder of the service was just as poor. Drinks took 10 minutes for mostly waters. Nothing crazy. Teas and waters. Maybe 2 sodas. Ambiance, it's a FEMA trailer... what else is there to say? We should have known better when we had to stop and ask where the place was. This place has to have the worst customer service of all the restaurants I have ever visited in my LIFE! A co-worker order two orders and when I arrived at the window the lady said my order was $24.00. I told her that couldn't be right, I ordered a rib plate. She stated that's not what the lady ordering said! I heard my co-worker order the correct entrée but didn't say anything and she took the food back to change it. At this point I don't have a problem. The lady returns and said everything is correct now and I gave her the credit cards for payment. I also asked for extra BBQ sauce since the sign at the drive through said condiments only given on request. She jerked back like I spit on her and said she didn't request that with the order? I just said please. So I got my cards back and the extra BBQ sauce and went back to the office. When I opened my plate I had 3 ribs and one was the little end piece with hardly any meat. $16.62 they charged me for 2 1/2 ribs!! I called Clancy's and spoke to the same lady who helped me in the drive thru and she said that's what is cost and if I didn't like I could bring it back but they were busy she didn't have time to discuss it. I was just verbally attacked by the owner as I was checking out with friends. I ordered broiled catfish and was unable to eat it because of the smell...I've eaten here many times before because I love their broiled catfish. At the table nothing was said except they would take the fish back and I would only have to pay for my sides...which was fine with me. My two friends and I continued with our meals and enjoyed visiting with each other...their catfish was fine. It wasn't until we were paying, in front of a restaurant full of people, that he went on the attack...yelling at me something was wrong with me because there was nothing wrong with their "fresh" catfish. Let me preface by saying it appears we showed up just after the lunch rush (about 1 pm), so our experience may not be typical . It took us 56 minutes to get 2 sandwiches and fries. Service was friendly and they apologized for the wait. , but it was way too long and they forgot a side and had to bring it an additional 10 mins later. Building appeared to be a dressed up double wide trailer and I observed them fetching my soda from what looks like a college dorm room fridge. It's eclectic, to say the least. Food was average. I had a catfish sandwich that was nicely seasoned with homemade tartar sauce, but the filet was thin and dry with heavy crust. Home cut fries that were undercooked. Bread was out of a bag, but fresh. My family was passing through Yazoo City and gave this place a try based on online reviews. More than worth the stop, even if the GPS tried to send us down a railroad track to get there. Have you ever had catfish so good that using tauter sause might insult the fish? This Catfish is that good. I have had the ribs on two other trips to Clancy's and it would have been easy to just get them, they are fall off the bone meaty smoked ribs. But I had read a review about the catfish so I had to give the catfish a try and I was not disappointed. I also had the gumbo and I loved the pulled pork in the gumbo it is a nice BBQ'ers twist on great dish. I will be adding the gumbo to every order. So if you are ever in the area of Yazoo City head over there order what ever your favorite it just might be the best you have ever had. read more

Great place for a plate lunch or a chopped steak dinner. The chopped steak came with fries and salad and I ordered an extra baked bean dish. It was great. I ate at Clancy's about a year ago with my entire family after attending a funeral. It was the best part of the trip. Our Family had a blast! Clancy's is okay. It's a small diner that is always packed by the locals and visiting out of towners. The sandwiches are limited in selection, but aren't half bad. For Mississippi, I'd say they're pretty good. If you're looking for fast food, this isn't the place to go and they'll be the first ones to tell you that. That being said, if you're looking for plain American food like sandwiches, po-boys or burgers, then this is the place. It's probably the best eating place in Yazoo City, which isn't saying a great deal. Overall, not bad, though it is a bit pricey for what you get. Warning, they do get packed during lunch hour, so try to get there just before or just after. read more
