I started seeing Claire 6+ years ago for massage to help manage chronic migraines & tight muscles due to hypermobility. To now be able to get combination acupuncture & massage treatments has been so incredibly helpful. She creates a very relaxing experience, and tailors the treatment, based on a quick chat at the start of the session. Managing multiple chronic illnesses for a number of years, my symptoms are always in flux. Claire is very detail oriented and isn't intimidated by complex cases. She's always learning new stuff & has a collaborative approach to treatment. Her knowledge of musculature & fascia, on top of Chinese medicine, is frankly incomparable to any other healthcare practitioner I've encountered. She friendly & knowledgable, but she also has a sense of humor which can be rare to find in this type of field, which I really appreciate. Sometimes you just need to laugh a bit about stressful health stuff. She's also open to learning more about hypermobility, EDS, MCAS, SIBO & autoimmune diseases. And If you're immunocompromised / covid cautious she's willing to wear a KF94 mask for appointments too, and is very chill about it. And as other folks mentioned, the Pasadena treatment space is super lovely & relaxing. I feel so lucky that I found Claire! I stumbled upon her on Google when searching for a local individual who can help me out with the pain/neuromuscular symptoms that unfortunately come along with my complex and chronic health conditions. Ya'll, I know this is Los Angeles and you can't throw a rock without hitting an acupuncture practitioner, but trust me when I say that Claire is the real deal. I've been seeing her for treatments now for about 2 years, dating back to when she was a wee Padawan at her school's clinic and I was lucky enough to be 5 minutes down the road. When I came to her I was a mess; I had a slew of health issues, mostly GI-related (and of course all of the mental health friends that come with GI issues i.e. anxiety, ptsd etc), but there were other fun things like tension headaches and tinnitus that I was also dealing with. I also had a sizeable distrust of acupuncture as an overall practice, which was mostly thanks to a couple of negative experiences with past treatments where, on one occasion, I was left for several months with what I feared to be nerve damage in my foot. But incredibly, gratefully, so much of that has changed over the last two years. Not only did this woman restore my trust in the practice of acupuncture, but I can honestly say that I have seen a noticeable decline in the symptoms of the conditions that she has been treating me for. My tinnitus and gallbladder spasms are gone, and my overall GI conditions are better than they ever have been. And for the longest time I was only getting these treatments on average once every 1-2 weeks! Did I mention that she also listens to you !? So many treatments I've had have been transactional, which fine, but I will say that that middle line approach 100% limits how deep you can go. Claire looks at the whole picture, treating the root causes as well as the symptoms i.e. diet, lifestyle etc., and I have so much appreciation for the quality of care that she provides. I could go on, but you get the idea. I mean I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of acupuncture treatments in Los Angeles, and frankly I don't have to, because I know for a fact that folks like Claire are rare. I have been working with Claire for the past few months for various postpartum related issues and have had such a remarkable healing experience with her. I walked into her office with immense back pain and after a few weeks of acupuncture and cupping can truly say that I'm able to get through the day pain free. I'm so lucky to have found Claire! Before her, I was visiting a chiropractor every other week because I was suffering from 2-3 tension headaches per week. These headaches grow so severe that I'm basically nauseous and sensitive to sound/light, and I can't function for the rest of the day until I sleep it off. The chiropractic visits were keeping the headaches down to maybe 6 times a month from my typical 12 headaches. Then I decided to try out massage instead as a more organic and long term approach for my headache control. Claire worked on my neck/shoulders/back to rub out all the rocks in the muscles. After 2 visits with Claire, I was headache free for 2 weeks! I now visit her every other week and my headaches are either nonexistent, or I get 1 periodically in between our visits. Claire is not only a masseuse, she is a therapist. When I first came in to see her my back was a mess. I have disc herniation's in my lumbar area. Took a long time for me to figure out that the problem was due to extreme tension in my hamstring. Long story short, I recommend Claire regularly to my friends as well as to you reading this review. Claire consistently gives the best massages I have ever had. I don't know massage words to help me explain, but you will know the difference between her and other massage therapists once you have a session with her. I have chronic joint pain, muscle pain and tension. I often just can't get to the point where I can relax enough that the tension isn't shooting to every part of my body. I started seeing Claire over a year ago and have seen her every week or two since then. The massages are great for stress and pain relief and Claire's deep understanding of the body allows her to quickly find problem areas and focus on the root of the issue to relax the area and provide relief that lasts. I take my massage very seriously, so do not take this review lightly: Claire is downright amazing! It is always a treat to receive her energy. She is a very perceptive human, both psychologically and physically. She will get in tune with your needs, focus on where her help is most needed, and very sensitively adjust pressure without needing much feedback from you. As a yoga instructor she holds a deep knowledge of skeletal alignment and neuro-muscular anatomy, and she will teach you much about your body if you are curious to understand it. Claire is broadly trained in many bodywork arts, which she blends artfully without dilution to bring about the most healing and well-being. She is a great listener who will be happy to support your healing either by engaging in mindful conversation or respect your silence if that is what you need. She is also very musically inclined, so she comes with great music (none of these cheesy, echo-ey instrumental piano covers of pop/classical tunes you hear at massage parlors!). Claire does house calls all over LA, including the West Side (e.g. Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, where I live). After developing a shoulder/back issue I went to Claire for a 90 minute massage/yoga session. The session was wonderful. The massage really attacked the areas that I needed. I have been to other massage therapists where it seems like the main problem area was left to be reprimanded within the last 10 mins of the session; that is definitely not the case with Claire. Claire made sure to hit every bad area and also inform me what was happening in my body. After the massage Claire transitioned into the yoga section. Since I am terrible at yoga, having Claire show me how to properly do exercises was incredible. I was able to feel how each stretch was fixing the problem. I have been working with Claire off-and-on for several years. Recently I've been seeing her for a headache I have stemming from a concussion and corresponding neck injury. I have had dozens of massages in my life, mostly at Thai places which can be hit-or-miss, and communication can be difficult because of the language barrier. Claire is the most experienced, attentive, and skilled masseuse I have ever worked with. She is gentle, but very strong. Her massages provide release from pain and tension, but they also actually feel good! She's very attentive to what is happening in my body and customizes the massage to my needs. I have had many massages in the past that did provide relief, but the process were painful because the masseuse was not gentle enough.
