First off, is Claire Thompson a magical wizard who can help you undo years of postural bad habits and learn how to tap into your body's own healing potential? YES! I BELIEVE SHE IS SUCH A MAGICAL HEALING WIZARD. I had never heard of acumassage before my previous massage therapist Trenton recommended Claire, so let me explain for anyone else in that position: imagine the most thorough, thoughtful acupuncture assessment you've ever had, and then add an incredibly relaxing massage to that experience. I have learned more about my migraine disorder and hypermobility in just a handful of sessions with Claire than I have learned in an actual lifetime of asking medical professionals the same questions. I would gladly recommend her to anyone struggling with chronic pain! Absolutely a magical healer. read more

It's true. Claire is magical. I've been going to Claire for about a year and a half now and she's absolutely incredible. She's so skilled and knowledgeable and has the ability to work wonders. Just recently, I tweaked my back - a mix of stress and lugging my toddler around - and one visit with Claire pulled me out of constant pain. I left after our session without feeling the awful lower back pain I had been struggling with for a couple weeks. Claire's work has always been healing, but on that day I was stunned. She gave me so much relief I could have cried. I'm so grateful. Claire's the best. Worth every penny. read more

I've been seeing Claire for about a year now. She's incredibly knowledgeable about the human body, how it works and how everything is interconnected. She takes the time to check in and listen to your needs and guides you through her process. The combination of massage and accupunture is relaxing and therapeutic. I leave her sessions feeling restored and calm. Recently I was experiencing terrible pain in the my my back and shoulder area and after just one session, it is nearly gone. It truly was like magic. I will continue to see Claire for overall health maintenance and for those aches and pains that always seem to come up. read more

I began my healing journey with Claire a year and a half ago. I had decided to quit birth control after 15 years of usage and was completely terrified. After many conversations with my GP (who insisted I not quit B.C.), I decided to take matters into my own hands after doing extensive research on alternative therapeutics. And this is the moment I discovered Claire and her wonderful healing soul. She was so informative, gentle and encouraging during our acupuncture sessions. My consistent acupuncture treatments & supplements prescribed by Claire helped me recalibrate my body in a way that truly amazed me. She also helped address lifelong digestive issues I had. I now have a better understanding of what my body needs to run more efficiently. Her location is so amazing too -- nestled within a quaint Pasadena neighborhood -- the space is serene, beautiful and most importantly, clean. Plenty of free street parking as well, so that's nice. Do yourself a favor, book an appointment with Claire and thank me later. (Upvote my review, lol) read more

I started seeing Claire 6+ years ago for massage to help manage chronic migraines & tight muscles due to hypermobility. To now be able to get combination acupuncture & massage treatments has been so incredibly helpful. She creates a very relaxing experience, and tailors the treatment, based on a quick chat at the start of the session. Managing multiple chronic illnesses for a number of years, my symptoms are always in flux. Claire is very detail oriented and isn't intimidated by complex cases. She's always learning new stuff & has a collaborative approach to treatment. Her knowledge of musculature & fascia, on top of Chinese medicine, is frankly incomparable to any other healthcare practitioner I've encountered. She friendly & knowledgable, but she also has a sense of humor which can be rare to find in this type of field, which I really appreciate. Sometimes you just need to laugh a bit about stressful health stuff. She's also open to learning more about hypermobility, EDS, MCAS, SIBO & autoimmune diseases. And If you're immunocompromised / covid cautious she's willing to wear a KF94 mask for appointments too, and is very chill about it. And as other folks mentioned, the Pasadena treatment space is super lovely & relaxing. I really can't recommend Claire enough, especially if you're dealing with complex health issues, chronic pain, headaches, etc. read more

I feel so lucky that I found Claire! I stumbled upon her on Google when searching for a local individual who can help me out with the pain/neuromuscular symptoms that unfortunately come along with my complex and chronic health conditions. It is so easy to book an appointment and she is very detailed and makes sure she addresses the questions and concerns that may arise. Just after one session I feel not only some pain relief already, but I also left there feeling quite relaxed mentally and physically. I look forward to seeing her on a routine basis and seeing how it helps my chronic pain and muscle tightness. You can tell she is not just there for the money, but instead has a genuine interest in providing healing work! The location is also beautiful with easy to find street parking. Her sessions are affordable for the personable work she provides. Thank you, Claire! read more

Claire is truly gifted. I've seen her several times now for acumassage therapy, and she is always person-centered, empathetic, and professional in her approach. My appointment with Claire was quite different than previous acupuncture appointments. Everything from the tranquility of the office space, her calming demeanor and thoroughness of examination made me feel not only calm/relaxed but well taken care of. Her knowledge of all body systems and holistic approach made me feeling walking out of my session already in relief. I highly recommend! read more

Ya'll, I know this is Los Angeles and you can't throw a rock without hitting an acupuncture practitioner, but trust me when I say that Claire is the real deal. I've been seeing her for treatments now for about 2 years, dating back to when she was a wee Padawan at her school's clinic and I was lucky enough to be 5 minutes down the road. When I came to her I was a mess; I had a slew of health issues, mostly GI-related (and of course all of the mental health friends that come with GI issues i.e. anxiety, ptsd etc), but there were other fun things like tension headaches and tinnitus that I was also dealing with. I also had a sizeable distrust of acupuncture as an overall practice, which was mostly thanks to a couple of negative experiences with past treatments where, on one occasion, I was left for several months with what I feared to be nerve damage in my foot. But incredibly, gratefully, so much of that has changed over the last two years. Not only did this woman restore my trust in the practice of acupuncture, but I can honestly say that I have seen a noticeable decline in the symptoms of the conditions that she has been treating me for. My tinnitus and gallbladder spasms are gone, and my overall GI conditions are better than they ever have been. And for the longest time I was only getting these treatments on average once every 1-2 weeks! Did I mention that she also listens to you !? So many treatments I've had have been transactional, which fine, but I will say that that middle line approach 100% limits how deep you can go. Claire looks at the whole picture, treating the root causes as well as the symptoms i.e. diet, lifestyle etc., and I have so much appreciation for the quality of care that she provides. I could go on, but you get the idea. I mean I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of acupuncture treatments in Los Angeles, and frankly I don't have to, because I know for a fact that folks like Claire are rare. Few practitioners will make you feel safer, held, and more supported than her. Thank you for everything, Claire. You are truly a gem among gems and I'm so grateful to have found you! read more

Claire Thompson is a true healer! I have had several sessions with Claire, both her acupuncture only treatments and AcuMassage Plus and I couldn't recommend her enough. Not to mention the clinic space is gorgeous, clean and peaceful. Claire has helped me address my chronic constipation and osteoarthritis in my knee~ she is extremely knowledgeable with both the acupuncture system and the herbal/nutrition world. Claire really takes the time to listen to concerns and break down how you can work through everything as a team, incorporating exercises and stretches you can do at home. If you can swing the AcuMassage Plus, it is completely worth it! Thank you forever Claire! read more

I had forgotten to add in my review that I had shoulder replacement surgery 2 years ago and Claire's care got me through some extreme pain! Thank You read more

Claire is a really pleasant and patient person to talk to about my issues. She's very astute and goes above and beyond to try and heal my chronic back/wrist pain. The acupuncture and the deep tissue massages aren't cookie cutters like other offices and were tailored to treating my specific areas of pain. I honestly feel the treatments actually are working. Will definitely return again. Thanks Claire for your services! read more

I have been working with Claire for the past few months for various postpartum related issues and have had such a remarkable healing experience with her. I walked into her office with immense back pain and after a few weeks of acupuncture and cupping can truly say that I'm able to get through the day pain free. She focused on a more whole body approach and was able to pinpoint issues with inflammation that she was able to address with acupuncture pretty immediately. I am still working with her and will continue to work with her as various health issues pop up, can't recommend her as a holistic healer enough! Thank you Claire ! read more

Over the past 7 years I have been to dozens and dozens of different massage therapists and I can say with complete confidence that Claire is the best of the best. Her massage techniques are varied and attack the deeper muscle tissues without being too rough, or painful. Sessions with her always leave me with less tension and feeling at peace. I have also been lucky enough to experience her acupuncture techniques and have found the experience to promote relaxation, pain relief, and tension release. read more

I first started seeing Claire for my tension headaches years ago and was always amazed by how knowledgeable she is about the human body and how it works. Not only does she have an amazing touch but you can tell that healing is her life's work. As we have transitioned to acupuncture I am finding even more relief from my headaches! We have also been able to tackle my other issues like IBS and chronic stress. She even stopped a cold I was coming down with in its tracks! After every session I leave feeling lighter and I know I can look forward to a week or more of relief from my symptoms. When you book with Claire know that you have found someone who will treat you as a whole person and is committed to finding what works best for you from her many years experience and extensive knowledge of healing. read more

Claire is simply wonderful! After 2 pregnancies in a row, needless to say that my body was hurting and challenged. After 2 appointments with Claire she "fixed" me and was able to find and release the key parts of my body that were hurting badly. I left the massage table feeling so light and relaxed but also with an understanding of why my body was hurting and she gave precious advice on how to avoid putting myself back into the same situation! Her place is spotless, very cozy ! It feels like you entered a secret and peaceful meditation space! The fresh flow of clean air makes it very "Covid safe" and she was wearing a mask the whole time. I highly recommend it !! read more

I'm so lucky to have found Claire! Before her, I was visiting a chiropractor every other week because I was suffering from 2-3 tension headaches per week. These headaches grow so severe that I'm basically nauseous and sensitive to sound/light, and I can't function for the rest of the day until I sleep it off. The chiropractic visits were keeping the headaches down to maybe 6 times a month from my typical 12 headaches. Then I decided to try out massage instead as a more organic and long term approach for my headache control. Claire worked on my neck/shoulders/back to rub out all the rocks in the muscles. After 2 visits with Claire, I was headache free for 2 weeks! I now visit her every other week and my headaches are either nonexistent, or I get 1 periodically in between our visits. This is life changing! If you suffer from chronic pain issues, a massage from Claire can really help alleviate the issues. It's given me so much relief to be able to live life fully without fear of getting a headache just from poor sleep or stress. I am a nurse and I work 12 hour shifts, and getting a headache during a shift would be the worst nightmare. I would have to be patient and kind to my patients, while internally battling nausea and trying not to fall over from the pain. Thank you Claire! I'm so grateful for the work that she does. read more

Wow. This review has been a long time coming. I've been treated by Claire on a weekly basis for almost a year now. Sorry that it took so long for me to review her services. Claire is not only a masseuse, she is a therapist. When I first came in to see her my back was a mess. I have disc herniation's in my lumbar area. Took a long time for me to figure out that the problem was due to extreme tension in my hamstring. Long story short, I recommend Claire regularly to my friends as well as to you reading this review. Her approach is not to just give you a massage and have you be on your way relaxed. She gets to the root of the issue. As many other people have stated I have also been a frequent client at Thai Day spas. But the language barrier is a huge issue. Anyway. Do yourself and your body a favor and come see Claire. read more

Claire is wonderful. The massage table is outdoors in a lovely quiet setting. She follows all the Covid protocols. And her technique is awesome ... strong, deep, and healing and NOT pokey or sharp. After five months with no massage, and too much time on the computer, I finally feel good again. Also ... she's a prompt communicator. read more

Claire is a genius. I've struggled with back tension and soreness for years and after two visits my back feels better than I can remember. She asked a bunch of thoughtful questions to understand what I needed, then delivered an incredible massage that I'm still feeling the impact of weeks later. I feel so grateful that I found her. read more

I went to Claire with low back and rotator cuff issues, plus some RSI inflammation in my wrists/elbows. Her massage technique brought instant relief and I'd recommend her to anybody--but the real surprise is how useful and effective her combo massage/private YOGA instruction is turning out. Because Claire is multidisciplinary, she was able to identify specific areas of tension and weakness through her massage work, then work with me one-on-one to develop a yoga routine that's tailored to my needs. This has been SO much more precise and helpful than simply going to a group yoga class. Claire wrote the yoga sequence out for me so I can practice at home, and now I've got an expert in my corner who can help me with my body from all angles. Can't express my gratitude enough. read more

I visited Claire for a massage after a week-long road trip that left me feeling pretty tight and sore. She could tell which parts of my body needed what, and helped me feel so much better! Her massage was relaxing and effective. By the end, I felt like I was floating on a cloud. The new space in Eagle Rock is gorgeous, too! Easy parking, and a comfortable and breezy massage room that made me feel like I found a relaxing, quiet getaway inside of the city. I'd recommend Claire to anybody needing a massage, whether they have a specific physical issue or are just looking for some relaxation. read more

Fantastic therapeutic massage! Claire Thompson first asks you about your problem areas and goals for the session and then applies her expertise to address them. Very professional, very effective. Highly recommended. Claire's consistent 5 star ratings are totally deserved. I'm from the East Coast. Next time I'm out here, I'm booking sessions ahead of time. Just grateful she fit me in this time. Do it! read more

I get a lot of massages and I get a good one then the next is always disappointing... Then I met Claire... Claire is the best masseuse I have ever had worked on me.. She started working on me before I became pregnant and continue after.. She does amazing prenatal massages, she is very intuitive and attentive. She does house call and also has a location in Pasadena/ San Gabriel that is very peaceful. I highly recommend Claire! Treat yourself!! read more

Claire always asks exactly what's going on in my body before each session. She listens. Her calm energy, skillful hands and extensive knowledge of the human body are the perfect combination to actually help relieve the problems I've had. Weather working on a specific injury or just needing to relax, she knows exactly how to help. I always feel like a new and a more calm person after the massage I am so grateful to have found her. I absolutely LOVE her yoga classes at Kinship too and that's where I first discovered her. Treat yourself and give her a call! You'll be glad you did. Highly recommend. read more

Claire has treated me for 8 years and I have found her work to be amongst the most effective I have ever received. I have had a sports injury in my neck and shoulder area since childhood and have seen many physiotherapists and massage practitioners over the years - perhaps 50 or more. She is one of 3 people I will go to consistently - and as the other 2 are not in the United States where I live presently, she is my #1 go to wellness practitioner. She has a unique and in depth grasp of a number of different systems (various massage modalities, Yoga from a physical and energetic perspective, Chinese 5 element theory) and weaves them together holistically without losing the power of any of them. Using whatever modality she feels as right for the situation she is able to bring relief from the pain and tightness of chronic injuries, and then recommend an effective regime of stretching, exercise and yoga to speed up wellness on a daily basis at home. As a sensitive and highly trained practitioner (over 1500 hours I think - ask her yourself) she is also able to create a wonderful sense of general well being for those who like lighter massage as a stress relief and general tune up. I highly recommend Claire as one of the most effective, knowledgeable, caring and responsible wellness practitioners I have ever been treated by. read more

I live in El Sereno, just across the 110 from Highland Park, and did a search on Yelp for local massage therapists because I have chronic back pain and was in a bad flare. Claire was nearby and had great reviews and they were quite accurate! I can't say I've been to hundreds of massage therapists to compare but Claire is the first person I've been to who seems to really understand anatomy and chronic pain and wants to tailor the work to you rather than go through the motions. On top of that, she wants to check in with you and see how you're progressing from week to week. I pretty much only write reviews when something is really good or really bad. Claire is the best! read more

Claire consistently gives the best massages I have ever had. I don't know massage words to help me explain, but you will know the difference between her and other massage therapists once you have a session with her. I have chronic joint pain, muscle pain and tension. I often just can't get to the point where I can relax enough that the tension isn't shooting to every part of my body. I started seeing Claire over a year ago and have seen her every week or two since then. The massages are great for stress and pain relief and Claire's deep understanding of the body allows her to quickly find problem areas and focus on the root of the issue to relax the area and provide relief that lasts. She also gives great advice after the session based on what she noticed during it--for example, she once recommended that I take a specific liquid magnesium supplement that would help with my overall muscle tension and I've been using it ever since. read more

I take my massage very seriously, so do not take this review lightly: Claire is downright amazing! It is always a treat to receive her energy. She is a very perceptive human, both psychologically and physically. She will get in tune with your needs, focus on where her help is most needed, and very sensitively adjust pressure without needing much feedback from you. As a yoga instructor she holds a deep knowledge of skeletal alignment and neuro-muscular anatomy, and she will teach you much about your body if you are curious to understand it. Claire is broadly trained in many bodywork arts, which she blends artfully without dilution to bring about the most healing and well-being. She is a great listener who will be happy to support your healing either by engaging in mindful conversation or respect your silence if that is what you need. She is also very musically inclined, so she comes with great music (none of these cheesy, echo-ey instrumental piano covers of pop/classical tunes you hear at massage parlors!). Claire does house calls all over LA, including the West Side (e.g. Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, where I live). It is best to schedule a session a day or two in advance, and she is always very responsive to find a time that will work for your schedule. Don't hesitate and treat yourself! read more

For the last few years I've been dealing with a chronic injury. Through all the help I've sought it's been difficult to find body workers who know much about it. Claire's deep well of knowledge shed so much light on what I've come to understand about it and taught me about specific muscular attachments and trigger points I had been completely unaware until now. She has an intuitive touch that's able to read where the body is at, directly communicate with it and open a dialogue for release. With Claire's innate body wisdom and years of experience I have faith she can help relieve you of any physical pain you are facing and open a door to healing. read more

After developing a shoulder/back issue I went to Claire for a 90 minute massage/yoga session. The session was wonderful. The massage really attacked the areas that I needed. I have been to other massage therapists where it seems like the main problem area was left to be reprimanded within the last 10 mins of the session; that is definitely not the case with Claire. Claire made sure to hit every bad area and also inform me what was happening in my body. After the massage Claire transitioned into the yoga section. Since I am terrible at yoga, having Claire show me how to properly do exercises was incredible. I was able to feel how each stretch was fixing the problem. Additionally Claire left me with a personal yoga sequence and told me about stretches I could do all the time to fix my injury. Claire is a great teacher and healer. read more

I spent a really long time looking for a massage therapist that I loved and could see consistently and I've finally found that with Claire! I suffer from low back / hip pain and her expert knowledge of anatomy & physiology becomes immediately apparent as soon as she begins working. I always leave her room feeling better than I came in, physically and emotionally. She is an excellent communicator, makes a sincere effort to always talk to you, and most importantly listens! She is truly a muscle whisperer. So grateful I found her! read more

Claire is super knowledgable and attentive with her massage work. I am a yoga instructor as well, and her understanding of the human anatomy and her awareness to your needs are amazing. I would recommend her highly. She is helping me through years of bad habits and injuries, and it's become one of the most effect ways for my healing. She gave me homework to augment the work between our massage sessions and has recommended certain other elements to support and empower the process. Plus she comes to you! Having a massage in your own home where you can immediately relax is so helpful. All in all, good at what she does. Giving with her knowledge. As well as supportive for your situation. Highly recommended. read more

I found Claire on Yelp, and I am so happy that I did! She is amazing! I have pain due to sciatica and TMJ, and she is on-point with her massage. I like/need a stronger massage and she does not disappoint! read more

I was having some pains in my Achilles and numbness in my toes after a long 7 day bike ride. I wanted to get a massage anyway, since I felt like my muscles could use it. Claire is one of the most talented and comfortable massage therapists I have ever had practice on me. She creates an energy and an intention with you before beginning, and manages to sooth both my mind and body. She massages both me and my boyfriend and although neither of us are "touchy" people, she makes us feel super comfortable. I've seen her both at her calm and serene home studio and had her made a housecall over to Atwater where I live. I highly recommend Claire to anyone looking for a healing experience. read more

Ms. Thompson knows her stuff. I heard about her practice after taking a few of her classes at Kinship Yoga (yes, she also teaches Yoga ) Went in for one session for my shoulder and upper back and she went straight to work. Not sure what music was playing in the background but it was perfect. I very quickly realized that I was in the hands of someone with extensive experience and who truly cared...I honestly almost cried by the end of the session. That was nearly a month ago and I've been seeing her as often as I can ever since! Thank you, Claire!!! read more
