I had a wonderful experience at clair de lune. Being a couple weeks post-mastectomy, I needed a new bra but really didn't know what to look for. After visiting a large department store, I wasn't acknowledged and had a poor experience. I'd always heard good things about the unique selection of lingerie and first class service at clair de lune, so I decided to pop in and see. At clair de lune, I was immediately greeted and assisted by two women. They knew exactly what I needed and showed me directly to a well-suited selection of options. When checking out, they also shared with me about the First Bra Foundation, which was founded by the owner of the boutique. As a cancer survivor, this allowed me to get one of my bras complimentary of the store. After such care, I'll most certainly return. I stopped in today to get a bra that fits well. Natalie checked out the poor fit of my current bra, listened to my frustrations with it, and the first one she brought me to try on fit perfectly! She's so amazing at what she does that she didn't even use a measuring tape. I set up a fitting appointment for my 89 year old mom. I went in shop with her, and I instantly loved it. We went back to the waiting chairs, and in front of my eyes were sports bras. My experience with bra fittings goes back to Intimate Designs in Independence. Honestly, I never thought Intimate Designs catered to me. They got my bras too tight. I needed sports bras. I go to Orange theory 3 times a week and do 5ks. Trust me jump squats in the wrong bra are another story. So I made myself an appointment after my mom's appointment. One thing I didn't like about my mom's appointment was they thought due to her age, she wouldn't like a certain type bra. But anyway, at my fitting, things went well. I started with 1 brand, ended with another brand. Both are well known in running communities. It was as usual too tight and learned it's the straps. I like the bra I bought (they don't carry big box brands). I most likely will go and buy another one. If they don't have the size, they order it. I went to the Victoria's Secret across the street to buy a great bra (because that is where everyone goes), and the girl helping me was trying to fit me for a bra, and she gave me the smallest band size and largest cup size that VS sells-a 32DDD, which was too loose in the band and too small in the cup size. She told me she is really passionate about properly fitting bras and has a youtube channel and a blog centered around bras/fittings. She recommended this store across the street and it changed my life. I found out I was a 30G/32FF UK size (which is a 30I/32H US size), and wearing a properly fitting bra has drastically reduced my neck/shoulder pain, and creates a dramatically better silhouette for my figure (which is much less evident with an improperly fitting bra). Almost everyone who works here is super helpful and super knowledgeable about bras (unlike the vast majority of employees at other lingerie stores). The prices are equivalent to Amazon or the internet. Most importantly, this is literally the only store I have ever been to or heard of in the US that has 32G+ bras that you can try on, and a wide and constantly updating selection. Additionally, they have swimsuits in hard to find cup sizes as well. I don't know what I would have done without this store. I even took my plus-sized friend here for a bra fitting after recently gaining some weight to get newly fitted, and she found out she was a 40B, of which they had a decent collection. read more

This is a good sign, the first thing I heard walking in was a 60 something year old woman say, "This bra fits better than anything else I've worn in my life!" Wow. I could walk out right then and have my quick review of Claire de Lune, JoCo's finest lingerie boudoir and self-titled Boutique Magnifique. But no - I'd take a look because I'm a sucker for french design. It is very 'boudoir-esque' - with the crown molding, opulent rugs and trim and flowery wall paper - you know the setup. I found nothing distasteful, everything on sale was beautiful and elegant and most women I'm sure would agree. The had not only nighties and bras and underwear, but also sleep wear for those nights you don't want something lacy but don't want frumpy either - you know what I mean. Claire de Lune is notable for its unwavering service. Having visited, I can attest to their service credo because the poor cashier was at the beck and call of this older woman apparently having the time of her life in her new bra. She was so attentive in fact, that after greeting me, she pretty much ignored me to help out her original customer and at first I felt a bit slighted - but I shouldn't because Claire de Lune takes appointments to actual bra-fittings, which I assume is what this older woman was doing. SO - If you have a grandmother or mother who's gained or lost some weight and needs to be professionally fitted with some of the best bras - I suggest booking your appointment - the service of the staff is unparalleled. Ms Brie is kind, caring, very patient, and most importantly very professional towards me, as a newly "covert" crossdressing male. She was great. She constantly made me feel safe, and at ease while in the store. She helped me pick out a pretty "My First Bra" that is the correct size, by going constantly, out to the showroom to find that right bra. Then she found a sexy long sleep gown, that fit my body perfectly. I've been here several times now and I feel like the customer service and quality are very good.They offer and encourage fittings and I would definitely recommend that everyone take advantage of this service. The prices could be considered a little high if you're used to shopping at the big box stores; however, they do offer sales during the course of the year and if you get on their email list, you can just keep an eye out for these promotions. To be honest, I would have to say that their sales staff take their jobs seriously and always try to make a sale, but they are never rude if you choose to wait for a sale to make your purchase - I appreciate that. read more

Small boutique is quite charming, and has a pretty good selection of bras in large sizes. They tend not to stock very many matched bra-and-panty sets in those sizes, though... nor do they have a big selection of plus-sized teddies or chemises. Price is higher than you're going to pay at the big boxes, but everything is much more fabulous. Staff was super-attentive & sweet as pie. Very unpleasant experience at Clair de Lune. I was attracted to the place because I take a large size and I knew I was not fitted correctly; Clair de Lune's website claims they carry up to size 52K. So I made an appointment and was looking forward to going. While this might be the perfect place for a slender, youn woman, perhaps someone planning her wedding night, it is NOT the place for a plus size 62 year old woman, which is what I am. I was greeted by two young, approximately size 8 women, who showed me to a dressing room. I showed my sales associate "fitter" that I was not fitting correctly in my size 46DDD bra. She told me they do not use tape measuring and they can tell what size is needed by just looking at the clients. That should have been a tip off there. She told me I was indeed fitted wrong and I needed a 46G or 46H which surprised me because while I am heavy, I am not that well endowed. She brought me a couple $60 bras that didn't fit me. They were huge and the cups were the size of Frisbees. I asked to see more and was told they actually didn't have ANYTHING in my size because someone had come in that morning and bought every last bra in my size but they could get more in the following week. I gave her my card, and said, "When you get something in my size, call me." That was a week and a half ago, and I've yet to hear from them. The happy ending to the story is I immediately went to Lane Bryant. There, a very nice, attentive, sales associate measured me and after trying on about a half dozen bras we found I was NOT wearing the wrong size, just the wrong style. I found a 46DDD bra that fit perfectly and was delightfully flattering. I was uplifted nicely, which looked and felt as if I was 10 years younger. The best part is the bra was $24.50 and they gave me 20% off for opening a charge card PLUS they were having a buy two, get two free special. I got four, perfectly fitting, flattering bras in various colors for $33.00. So if you want to pay for overpriced bras, you want to be "fitted" by someone who just looks at you, and you wear an average size, then you might want to go to Clair De Lune. This place is fantastic! I went recently after the birth of my son, looking for a comfortable everyday nursing bra and a nicer one for my husband; and I was able to find both of them, and they ended up BOTH being comfortable. The variety of nursing bras they had even for a plus sized woman was top notch... I was easily able to come away with two new bras; and the fitting process is what you pay for here. Yes, the bras are a bit pricier than you can get elsewhere; but I was totally wearing the wrong size bra and she got me the perfect one and it made me look like I lost 10 instant pounds. And just walking through the store I fell in love with the gorgeous bras... all tastefully done and not trashy like Victoria's Secret with all their models plastered all over the walls. I admit I left with three sets of underwear and bras for after I am nursing; they were that gorgeous! And maybe a bit too much information... but I love the fact that their bras have such variety. I got a couple that were barely see through; but still had super good coverage and support. I purchased a bra and asked for it to be shipped. After much misunderstanding the bra was never shipped. I don't appreciate being told I was wrong when I wasn't. My bra sat in the store for over 2 weeks and no attempt was made to call me to come in. I was very disappointed in how the situation was handled and how I was spoken too. I have shopped here twice. Both times I was sent home with the wrong sz.They do not do refunds ,only credits. They also claim they have the largest selection in the Midwest. This is not true. First time I was left with over a $200.00 credit. Was sent a card announcing a 30% off sale for three days,Friday,Saturday and Sunday. I should have known better than shop this tiny shop on a Saturday sale. The manager from their St.Lousi store was trying to sell me what was left in stock. She sent me with several bra's in a 36 F.Wrong! I then went on Nordstroms internet site and they were also having a 30% off bra sale I ordered @ least 9 to 10 bras in different sizes knowing I could return,with no hassle and get a refund.Well none of them fit me properly and went to Oak Park Nordstroms and was fitted by Goldie! She was "spot on" gave me the 30% off on the proper fitting bra's I left with,38G!!!!!! What a different and delightful experience. Very professional and I actually was not filled with anxiety knowing a sales person was trying to sell what was in stock.Bad move:( The bra's I wanted that they did not have in stock were ordered and sent straight to my door in less than a week. I am now stuck again with a $400.00 and some credit @ Claire de Lune. I will try to spend my credit and get quality merchandise with someone who know's what the H--- they are doing.Oh,the Chantelle Rep. just happened to be @ Nordstroms the day I was fitted. She was impeccable with her knowledge of this fantastic very French line. It fits fuller busted women wonderfully,you just need a professional sales associate who has been properly trained and wants you to have the best fit and leave feeling great and looking great. Oh,feeling a bit sexy @ 60 doesn't hurt either. I scheduled an appointment on line as their website stated to do. I never rec'd a confirmation so I called the store and was told that does not work; to just come into the store. I went last Saturday and was greeted politely by a young sales lady. When I told her I was there for a fitting and needed to be measured she told me they do not measure but they just give you bras to try on and see how they fit. I have never heard of this but thought I would proceed. She brought me to a fitting room and asked what size I currently wear which I responded 36DD. She left and immediately returned with a bra and told me to put it on and she would be right back. I was very uncomfortable in the bra, it was sized smaller but decided I would do as told. I heard her in another fitting room laughing and talking about personal things and after 6 minutes of not breathing in the too small bra I proceeded to get dressed in my bra that fit and clothes. As I was exiting the store, she ran up to me and was shocked I was leaving. I told her I had never be treated so shabby, I waited in that room for over 6 minutes for you not counting the time I got undressed and dressed. You were laughing and having a good time next to me and didn't even acknowledge me. Terrible business place. I would not recommend. read more

The boutique itself is very cute - it's got a little french dressing room vibe. The soft lighting and decor give it a very warm, intimate feel. I don't recall their lingerie being terribly exciting. They do carry a wide range of bra sizes, but mostly a few sizes in a few models. If you go in looking for a very specific bra in a specific size you might be disappointed, but it's a small boutique - I wouldn't expect them to carry every bra in all sizes. They have told me the can order things if you can't find what you want in a particular size as well, they just might not be available to try on in store. They will, of course, offer sizing help if you like, and they do it by assessing the fit of your current bra rather than by using a tape measure. I had an idea of my size going in, so didn't take advantage of this service and can't speak to the accuracy of their methods. They do stock quite a few 28 and 30 bands, which work well for me, so if you also need smaller band sizes it might be worth stopping in. The service for the most part has been pretty good, with one recent exception. The most recent time I visited, one of the women who was working there (I believe it was the owner, actually) kept walking in to my dressing room and THEN asking if I would like help with anything. I'm not particularly shy, but it was a bit startling to keep seeing her appear behind me in the mirror. When I did actually need her later she had completely vanished; I believe a customer with an appointment had arrived, because I could hear her working with someone else for quite a long time, I just wasn't able to get her attention. That's alright since she seemed to be the only one working there that day, so I decided to slip on a shirt and go seek a different size myself. She somehow sensed this, and instantly materialized at my side long enough to scold me for looking through a drawer of merchandise. They "don't like customers to look through the drawers themselves" so I "need to make sure I tell her what I need instead of looking [my]self". Really? They ultimately didn't have the size I needed in one of the bras I wanted, and I wasn't terribly excited about continuing my shopping experience with them after our off-putting exchange anyway, so I ended up leaving empty handed. I have purchased with them in the past, and everyone else who has helped me there has been pleasant, so perhaps this experience was just a one-off. Overall, it's a cute boutique, and they do have a decent selection of sizes. I got the impression the service would be more reliably good if you make an appointment prior to arriving. I *might* stop back in now and then but they've certainly not become my go-to destination for bras/lingerie. read more

Brittany didn't even need to measure me and brought me an amazing selection that were perfect for what I was looking for. I didn't think the prices were any more than a good department store.
