There was literally a guy training for the olympics there. But, my first class was tonight and the trainer was great. I was relieved to see that the others in the challenge class were at my level and the trainer focused the class on our goals and abilities. Kicked my butt more than any other workout has, including 3 years with a personal trainer, but I felt supported and confident throughout. 27 days left-and while I am not looking forward to the pain, I am excited by the results I believe I will see. As an update-I lost 6 pounds and a dress size in a month and am a lot stronger. I can't believe I can actually flip tires and push trowels. More effective than anything else I have ever done. Tod and his team are motivating, knowledgable and patient.

For anyone with younger children, I would DEFINITELY check out their open gym time to get a feel for the place. The facility is extremely clean and well-run, the equipment is in excellent condition, and I am conststantly impressed with how professional, creative, and genuinely happy to be there the instructors are- from Master Chung himself down, they all seem to LOVE teaching skills to children. (And not in a cheesy way!) I would definitely recommend the sports skills class to anyone with a child in the 2.5-5 year range. My niece is learning so much and becoming so much more confident in her abilities. Unlike other similar classes I've observed at other locations, Bruce Chung's makes sure that all the children in the class are engaged, with minimal time just sitting around waiting their turn. VERY pleased with this class!

I've gone to a couple of karate schools in the westchester area and hated them but when I came here I couldn't stop. I did over 5+ years here and got up to my high green belt. (Had to stop to stop after my 2nd year of college) I was in the adult class since beginning of high school. There's a mixture of older students to adults in the classes . They mixed up the classes from cardio, to self defense, to ground fighting and forms. Both my younger sister have gone through the program and Hiawatha and Steve have done everything to make sure we got the best deal. It's a safe clean environment. Waiting area for the parents with TVs to watch the all the classes from other rooms. My sisters and I would rotate doing homework while the other was in class. It's close to the metro north and to many food places in Larchmont. I am certainly not the more trained or most athletic person but I absolutely love this place and care about the instructors like family. I come from a very results-driven background--fitness, strength training, and nutrition--so I've always focused almost entirely on the physical side of health. The spiritual side is something I'm newer to, and I'm realizing it's probably been the missing piece of my puzzle. Arriale has been incredibly supportive, consistent and very intuitive throughout the process. She takes the time to listen, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her clients. The results aren't always immediate or obvious especially for a results driven Type A, but I have noticed increased awareness, mental clarity, and a better understanding of certain patterns that may have been impacting my overall well-being for decades. I also appreciate that we're tracking biomarkers and connecting this work back to real health outcomes, which gives it more substance and satisfies my goal seeking persona. This isn't a quick fix--it's a different layer of the process. And for me, it's been a reminder that health isn't just physical.
