Gyms are back- but took me a while to nail "the one" because many rely on machine work which I would do- but they're necessarily not my thing. Classes are more up my alley because I love to get my body worked up real good with an instructor and Belmars in the Greenburgh area of White Plains, met me there. Belmars is primarily known for Muay Thai but with one call prior to my Saturday class, Peter mentioned there's Circuit training and Zumba. He texted location details as it's off the Route 119 path and prices for each of those. Because of COVID, Peter mentioned not many folks are hitting the gym and classes have been small. The entire Belmars space is big. It opens with a large exercise room, wall-to-wall mirrors, boxing ring further back and a smaller Circuit Rm- where I and someone else, dripped in sweat with Christine. Don't be fooled by her small frame- my girl will have you hating her...I did- but it was all love and the burn was real even the next day! Plus her playlist was bomb! From Freddie Mercury to old school hip- hop to some pop- she had us going. Listen- I'm a size 10 and felt super comfortable not to be exercising with size 0 Beckies like you see in high-end gyms. By the end of her workout, my muscles shook like never before. Christine's Circuit Training class wasn't an easy ride but made such and an incredible difference even it's just Saturdays for 45 minutes. After a year+ not stepping foot in a gym, coming here gave me adrenaline for more!

You may have joined a Martial Arts school and realized that you are going to get hurt and you're not in shape. Or, you are like me looking for something different, I have practiced Shotokan karate for over 30 years. I have jumped from martial art school to martial art school and weight gym to weight gym. I completed Peter's 5 week beginners Muay Thai and fitness class. It's the class everyone has to take to advance to the Muay Thai Kickboxing and Boxing classes. That first class was filled with about 20 + people. I thought I was strong, but I was wrong. I can't jump rope and It was the first time I did a pushup in about 20 years. I also did not know what a Burpee was. (Peter made this exercise look easy). By the end of the 5 week class, I was at 50 Pushups, 3 minutes jumping rope and about 15 Burpees. Maybe Martial Arts are not for you, but you want to get in shape. You want a body of a boxer or you just want to take your shirt off at the beach. Or, if you are like me, you need to shed some pounds. (I was over 270lbs I now weigh in at 230lbs.) My name is Charles White. I hold black belts in Shotokan Karate and Kendo. Everyone who works the front desk is excited to see you and are genuinely happy to have you in the studio. Next, as you walk further into the studio (if you can get passed the super cute boutique), you will find the most supportive instructors! Every single teacher is the epitome of professional. They go out of their way to learn your name, understand your limitations and help you push beyond them. It is a challenging work out and you will leave sore but you will also leave with a feeling of accomplishment and self love. The PBMK community makes sure of that! I've never joined a fitness studio like this one- it's certainly one of a kind filled with the most down to Earth clients and teachers who all care about one another.

Chris, my trainer, is extremely personable, focused, and on top of all our objectives. I've always thought the best customer service experience is one where the client feels like they're the only client in the universe, and that the party providing the service is devoted to the singular task of addressing the client's needs. Obviously, a bit of a fantasy given a business with multiple clients, but some businesses pull it off: they create an environment where you feel like you're truly cared for, as if you're the only client. Evolve Athletic Club has accomplished this with me. The staff here are extremely competent, supportive, attentive to detail, and prioritized all my personal objectives. Every question has a good answer and every workout is challenging. A lot of care is put into recovery and nutrition. The space is very clean and organized. The staff has done a great job to build amazing rapport and trust. On a side note, you know the expression, "zero fucks given"? It's this attitude where a person literally does not care about a single thing. Plants need watering? No. Need to pay rent? Nah. Clothes getting dirty and need washing? Whatever. Failing school? Ite. Evolve is the opposite of this. In fact, I think they're the opposite of this plus more. Not only do they do everything you think that's required of them, they also do stuff that you don't consider. They take the initiative to say: "hey, this is cool and could be beneficial to you. Why don't you try it?" But, but...you're reviewing a business. Aren't corporate entities "it's" and not "they's"? Sure. However, I stopped thinking of Evolve as a corporate entity as soon as I started working out there. All the staff members look organically happy and engaged, and everyone has a great sense of humor. It genuinely feels like the people here are part of a family. Perhaps I'm just happy that I'm in much better shape. But, at the end of the day, results are results. Not only did I get results, I got them with a process that was fun and engaging. I'm more encouraged than ever to work out and be healthy.

Love this place…read more Pilates is a tricky sport as it actually becomes harder as you progress. Those new to fitness will feel the burn after your first class but for more athletic people, it takes a while to find proper alignment and really engage those muscles. You know you found it when your thighs start crying. Everyone who works there has been super nice and all have a good sense of humor. They are very helpful, good at observing detail and nobody's mean if you can't do the pose 100%. The clientele have a sense of camaraderie, rather than competition. Great studio.

I just graduated from school then, with a body burnt out by the heavy school workload and a super messed up diet. I wanted to switch to a better lifestyle with efficient workout routines and healthy diet. Gabby setup a three workouts per week schedule with me. We discussed my fitness goal beforehand so that she could design the most efficient workout routine for me. Her training plans for me mostly utilized self-weight, which is very beginner-friendly. They are balanced workouts of strength and cardio so that I could maintain my muscle mass while losing the body fat/increasing my metabolism. I also received many nutrition tips from Gabby to help improve my diet. With Gabby's training and the diet control, I lost 10 LBs in less than 2 months. The entire process was pain-free and healthy. I've learned so many new and fun workouts from Gabby that working out does not seem boring any more!
