I first got wind of Juan actually surfing Yelp for local gyms- when my local Crunch shut down. So I was left with either exercising at home with my Taebos and Firm DVDs or just burning it off with stairs at the park. But deep down, I also missed and needed that personal 1-on-1 encouragement from an instructor or doing classes that I've always gravitated to. Did a dry-run one Saturday morning just to get a feel and from home to this location, is a solid 20 minutes on the Bronx River Pkwy. Parking was a snap both times I was there. Located on Main St., Juan (owner?) answered all my questions and he in turn, took his time to be as specific as possible, a tour of the gym included plus a Free Trial class whenever I wanted. Perfect! Classes here an ultimate plus for me and that's what I actually loved right from the beginning: those good old-fashioned Toning, Bootcamp, Leg Workouts that really work for me plus Personal Training. And if you're into Zumba, they got that too. The following Saturday, headed down to Tuckahoe for my Free Trial Bootcamp class with Steven who made me work Abs, Arms and Leg muscles in a totally different way. Let me put it this way, the guy was professional, on top of his game and attentive! Man...I came out of there sweating bullets and loved it! I love their pitch and what these guys stand for- but because of my personal time constraints at the moment, the 20-minute trip is what I have to consider. I was in search of a workout class and I figured I'd browse through Groupon. I hate the gym but enjoy fitness classes. While browsing I came across a Groupon for I train with Juan. I bought one for a friend and I. Honestly we could not be more pleased! Staff is very friendly, Juan the owner is extremely attentive and helpful. This is not a huge fancy gym, instead an intimate gym where your trainer knows everyone in the class by name. They offer bootcamp classes, Zumba classes and even core classes. This training facility is awesome. My trainer Tina is really kind, knowledgeable, and always has new and fun ways for me to exercise. The facility is kept clean and sanitized. The prices are also very reasonable and unbeatable from my research. The gym is small and comfortable but they have a lot of machines and everything is pretty modern. I do the 1:1 training but have seen the Zumba and other fitness classes occurring at the same time. The Zumba classes are high energy and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. read more

I trained with Juan for about 3 years and only stopped after my family moved out of state. I mostly worked with Juan for boxing but each session also included a significant amount of general fitness. Since moving, I miss training with Juan very much. Boxing is a lot harder than it looks and after 3 years, I feel like he got me to a very respectable place and it was something I looked forward to every week. If I ever won the lottery and did not need to work during the day, I would probably have trained with him 3-4 times per week. I also found Juan to be very helpful whenever I had injuries. Whenever I came to him with industries from running or skiing, he always knew how to work around them or strengthen the injured area, and as a trained massage therapist he also helped work out some bad knots in my back and legs whenever they interfered with training. For anyone interested in boxing as a hobby or just looking to get in great shape, I would strongly recommend working with Juan. read more

I literally lost so much weight since I have started doing zumba. I tried another place and I didn't like. Then I found this little gem right next to me. I absolutely love it, the teachers are all absolutely amazing. The owner Juan is such a sweetheart and very humble. I really like the space it's always very clean and the staff is nice. Amazing!!! I've been training with Juan for years and I'm so glad he finally opened his own place! He has personal training, classes including Zumba, PiYo, Boxing, Strength, etc. He also does sports massage. Trust me he is able to get anyone into great shape, plus you'll have a good time doing it. Very knowledgeable and very patient. If you're not able to perform a certain exercise not too worry he knows about 10 modifications or other things you can do to work the same muscle group. I found I Train With Juan last year when I was looking for a Zumba class to take. I love the Zumba classes and I also worked with a personal trainer for a few sessions which I also enjoyed, probably for the first time in my life! I realized it was the first time I worked with a woman and she completely understood what my body needed. Eileen helped me get back on track with my fitness plan. Juan knows all his clients personally even if he doesn't work with them. He and his team really make their clients feel at home when they're there. Love the atmosphere and the instructors - the location is parking friendly, very clean, well lit and there's something for everyone here in what is offered. I tried a zumba and group lesson package and thought they were great - taught by people who know what they're doing. The zumba instructors are challenging and true to the style - no hunting and picking off an iPod here!
