We had our HVAC and tankless unit installed by MillTown in 2020 as part of a hydronic heating…read moresystem. A month ago, the commercial‑grade tank they installed failed. Rheem covered the tank under warranty, but MillTown charged $5,800 for the replacement which was essentially a retrofit with minimal changes. After reviewing the work, it was clear the job should have been closer to $3,000 based on industry standards and actual scope. Unfortunately, the workmanship was disappointing. The system was left in a condition that doesn't reflect professional standards -- including a drain valve positioned against another pipe, making it impossible to drain the system properly. I provided photos and a detailed email to Milltown expressing these concerns. Their response was that there "wasn't much to do," and they offered only a $500 credit toward a future service. Given the excessive pricing and the quality of work, a credit for a future service wasn't a reasonable solution, and I declined it. Another concern: their website offers no way to contact the owner or any managers directly. For a company that presents itself as family‑run, that lack of transparency says a lot. Overall, the experience was frustrating from the high cost to the poor workmanship to the dismissive response. Based on this, I cannot recommend MillTown for plumbing or HVAC services.

The lead tech tried to sell us a maintenance plan to get any kind of reasonable discount. Overall, I found their prices way to high. No thanks!! Milltown...people still work for a living. Merry Christmas Slower season? Isn't this heating season (busy)? Nobody wants to pay for you to train your staff.

They sold their business and I am in the unfortunate position of finding a new plumber, so I called Foster Plumbing and Heating Inc. If you want to be scammed, call Eric Foster Plumbing and Heating. When I called them to make an appointment for routine maintenance of my year-and-a-half old AC, I was quoted a price of $225. Nothing was said about this being an hourly charge or about other charges. I have been having furnace and AC maintenance done for about 60 years and the charge for this work has been a flat fee. The work generally takes an hour or less. The only additional charge I have ever had o pay has been $10 for a filter if I did not supply my own. When I got a bill for $432, I was sure it was an error, so I called them to request a corrected bill. It was then that I was told that the $225 was an hourly fee. Since the technicians had not been at my home for more than an hour, the charge was still more than I had been quoted. I was then told that they had been working at my home for an hour and 15 minutes, so I was charged for an extra 15 minutes. However, Foster has a strange kind of math as they charged for a half hour for those 15 minutes. That would be $112.50 for that "extra" 15 minutes. Add to that the $94.50 which I was told covered the cost of the liquid used to clean the coils. Pretty expensive liquid, something I have never been charged for in the past!! I was also not told that there would be an additional charge when I made the appointment. I supplied my own filter. As an added "bonus", when I turned my shower on the next morning I was bombarded with ice cold water. Fortunately, I determined that the water heater temperature had been turned off by the technician and carelessly not turned back on. If it had been necessary to call Foster to solve this problem, I would have been billed another $225 or more. I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income, and I live alone. It is necessary for me to be able to hire reliable and honest workmen. Foster Plumbing and Heating certainly will not go on my list of honest and reliable workmen.

After coming in when I explained what's the issue and how this 'no power on Y1' happened back in February, the tech basically said it's a thermostat problem and need to call the Nest/electrician (also how they never work with nest thermostat which is bizarre tbh). Me knowing a bit about HVAC, asked him to jump Y1 and RC wire and AC should turn on if it's a thermostat problem. He then said yes, I can try that. Sure enough it didn't work and proved that it's NOT a thermostat problem. Then he finally went to the attic to check the air handler and did something with the condensate Safe T switch and AC started running. There was recent insulation work from MASSSAVE and he said the issue is from the insulation work, even though the problem (no power to Y1) happened back to February (and I just had to disconnect the wire from the thermostat since no need to cool the house back then). Long story short, I have expected more than "masssave caused the problem" . Who knows if the condensate drain is clogged or something and if that caused the shutoff. At the very least I needed a rootcause of the problem. But this guy went down right away and got to his car and said service call would be $180. I hate leaving bad reviews to local business but I really had an odd experience. Leaving 2 star since AC is working, for now, but I am pretty much sure if condensate drain clog is the issue this will fail again and then there would be another $180 "service call".
