I submitted a project request on Yelp and Chris asked me to call and give him more information. He was generous with his time and gave me a few ideas about what was going on (dimming lights, LEDs burning out). We agreed that I would watch and wait, and contact him again if the problem continued. Chris is very knowledgable and straightforward. I'll contact him again. read more

08-29-2021 With bad air quality and hot weather the wife and I had fans, air purifiers, and a portable a/c going for the past two days. Suddenly out of no where a/c goes down, expecting that we were using to much power I go to check the breaker... and I hasn't tripped . I go to look at the outlet suspecting it might have gone bad, I have no power there... Easy fix..., so I thought.... Hit ACE, buy an outlet, install, and still no power.... Mind you, this is 2 pm on a Saturday. I shut down the suspect breaker servicing half of my lights and outlets fearing there could be something going on in the walls that I couldn't remedy myself. Call countless company's some answer and say the don't have time. Some don't answer at all. I call Chris and he answers and I walk him through my issue, he was currently on a job but took the time to hear me out. After explaining what was going on and Chris's responses assured me I knew I could trust him with the job. He informed me that it was a good idea to keep the breaker off. He was super busy and asked me to continue to try other company's but if I had no luck to call him back. An hour later I call him back and he says that if he can't make that evening by 5pm he would be here promptly at 9am Sunday Morning ! Long Story a little shorter.... Chris show up at 9Am today, inspect's the situation and begins to go to work. 30 minutes later we think the problem is taken care of, but haha not quite the case. I call him shorty after he leaves explaining that something doesn't seem right, by no fault of his own. He tested everything and they came back good. Gremlins arouse when I plugged certain things back in. He response I'll be back there in 15 minutes!. Comes back, and finds the real issue at hand!!!! We're Fixed and I feel safe! Chris was amazing!, once he found the actual problem at hand he fixed it properly and informed me what needs to be done to the rest of the house to insure this won't happen again. I work often with contractors in all of the trades in my professional occupation. Chris's knowledge, workmanship, communication skills, and prices are in the 99th percentile! I would highly recommend him to anyone ! Thanks Chris!!!!! read more

On the plus side, chris came over immediately to get an idea of what was needed. However, he was curt, unfriendly and pretty unhelpful. I wanted a plug for my EV vehicle and was asking me all the specs needed (watts and amps). I'm not an electrician. Shouldn't he know that, or how to look it up? No thanks to this one. read more

I wish I had a chance to give him zero star. He is not responsive. Left a voicemail couple times never got any reply. Don't trust him. Scammer! read more

Terrence did an excellent job installing our two chandeliers. He was prompt and resourceful. He performed the installation with care and made sure we were satisfied with the placement. I highly recommend him! read more

Chris did an awesome job. Will have him back. He installed a whisper quiet exhaust fan. Now I want to replace them all. It's like the difference between a aged Ford Pinto and a modern day Mercedes. Both cars, but completely unrelated otherwise. The new fan is so quiet you can't tell when it's on. read more

I'm a manager of a old large apartment complex and I often have electrical problems. I called CK electric and they gave me a app't time of 10:00 AM the next morning. Chris showed up on time and immediately set to work to determine the problem. I had already used another company for the same problem, but they couldn't solve the problem w/o cutting into walls etc. I was reluctant to do that. CK electrical had the problem resolved in 1 1/2 hours w/o any wall cutting. He saved me a lot of money. I highly recommend this company. read more

Chris just left and my kitchen dimmer lights and son's bedroom dimmer work perfectly! He was prompt, pleasant, reliable, efficient, and reasonable. If you live in southern Marin, he is local -took him under 5-6 min. to get to my home! read more

Chris was out the same day as I called and scheduled our entire job for two days later. He and his associate were completely professional and totally helpful as they worked through the day solving all issues I asked him to address. He brought a couple of additional issues to my attention and proposed cost-effective solutions for them. I would definitely recommend Chris and CK for any electrical job large or small. read more

I have a home in Larkspur built in 1931. I needed to have the electrical updated and lights and extra plugs installed. I wound up giving Chris the job and I am so glad I did. Chris got the job done in time and in budget. He has tremendous flexibility and resources to get the job done and done well. We spoke one day as he was finishing the job. I found out that he was a master electrician who used to run a large electrical contracting company. He found he would rather stay small and focus on the customer. Chris is the person you want to have work on your house. He has the skill, great communication, experience, maturity and integrity. read more

Chris was friendly and helpful. I only had a simple problem with the fuse box at my work. After calling through the majority of the list of electricians listed on Yelp, he was the only one who assisted me. Would recommend! read more

Had Chris install a 240V line and EV charger. Chris was prompt, professional and priced fair. His work was quick and clean. He clearly knew his stuff, as did his crew. Will not hesitate to use CKE for future work at my residence or place of business. read more

I can't believe I forgot to leave Chris a review. It's been 1+ years since he completely overhauled our switchbox and breakers. Chris does top-notch work and, even better, proved to be 100% reliable and very fair. I hate to recommend Chris and put him in "high demand", but that'd simply be wrong. I recommend him, without reservation, for all your electrical needs. read more

Chris responded to our call for electrical assistance quickly and was able to come out the next day to fix our problem. In the next couple of weeks the same problem occurred. We were baffled and called Chris again and he promptly came out and chased down our problem. The problem, as it turns out, had nothing to do with what Chris had fixed the first time. It was a completely unrelated issue that cause the same power outage. He fixed this problem and didn't charge us anything extra. Chris really stands behinds his work and cares about his customers. Chris will be our first call if we ever have any electrical work needs in the future. read more

I needed a charging station in my garage for my new electric car. Chris put a 220-240 volt line in my garage and mounted and installed the charging station. The work was done the day after I called. I liked everything about working with Chris. I was in a rush to get my electrical upgraded to 200 amp and a car charger installed. He showed up the same day and quoted a fair price. The existing electrical was really old and he came up with a great solution to incorporate it into a new design and keep the cost reasonable. Arrived on time, delivered on time, great quality work. read more

As a solar power project developer, my work often requires additional electricians to perform sub contract work. I've had great experiences using Chris for electric service upgrades and installing car charging stations for my customers. My best friend recently bought a house in Marin that still had wiring and service from the 1930s. CK Electric performed an awesome job on the demo and then thoroughly installed a new service panel and modern wiring. I'd just like to express how awesome Chris is at pleasing my solar customers as well as my friends and business associates. I would recommend CK Electric to anyone wanting electric service work for new construction or existing buildings. read more

I called Chris at 10am, he was in Berkeley on a job, told him half of my house was "out", no power, he took a few minutes to trouble shoot with me, it didn't work, told me he'd be able to come to Mill Valley EOD, on a Friday no less. I messed around with the junction box too much and now everything went out, called him again, and he came right over. Within 20 minutes or less he had it figured out, explained to me in detail what the issue was, fixed the problem and he was gone. It's now 1pm at this writing. Can't say enough good things about this experienced and knowledgeable electrician. Thank you, Chris. read more

Chris is extremely knowledgeable and honest. He gets the job done, gives you layman information on choices, and does not try to create more work. He is professional, personable, and a hardworker. We had him do extensive fix it work on an older place. He explained things to me so that the mystery was removed! He is the only electrician I would hire. Christine - Tiburon read more

Chris (owner) at CK and his assistant did all the rewiring for our kitchen and fam. room remodel in 2006 and he did a great job, good price. I've used him a few times since then for small jobs. He responded to my calls quickly, came and looked at the work I wanted done, scheduled a time to do it and came by with his assistant to do the work all in 24 hours (and on time). I know he's pretty busy, so I just liked that he was willing to keep me as a customer, even though I have smaller jobs now. So, good service, he's a nice guy, the assistant (Antoine) was very conscientious, Chris really examined his work, and they did a great clean up job. Couldn't ask for more. read more

Chris bailed us out big time. Friday at 5 pm our main breaker fails and we have no power. A neighbor recommended Chris so I called him. Ninety minutes later (including his travel time) we have power. Chris will be back in 10 days to help us with some long neglected electrical work. Ck Electrical deserves 5 stars! read more

Chris is great. He has lovely energy. I was having problems with a GFI breaker tripping - he came the same morning I called him and let me know that the problem was in my hot tub. He said that wasn't his area of expertise and best to get the hot tub repair man out. When I asked him what I owed him, he said nothing. He freely gave of his expertise & time. When does that happen in this day and age? I'm sticking with Chris as my electrician!! read more

Chris did an excellent job of running telephone and cable wires under my house. He "fished" wires through the wall, instead of drilling through my hardwood floor. The end result was a professional look at a very reasonable cost. He also installed new electrical plugs and found an issue with the old wiring in my house. Chris explained that he had other pressing work, but he still stayed on my job long enough to resolve all issues. Chris worked well with my tenant. For most of the work, I watched everything he did, and I can say for sure he does professional work. At every stage of the project, I appreciate Chris for taking the time to explain what he is doing and why. read more

Wow - blew a fuse on Sunday night and could not fix by just messing with the breaker box. Called a couple of different electricians based on one friend's recommendations but no one was able to come as quickly as needed. Checked on Yelp and found Chris. He said he would be out within 90 minutes, came in just over an hour and was super helpful. He fixed the problem in under an hour and also nicely answered some questions we had about other parts of the house. Very happy to have found Chris - am sure we will work with him again! read more

Had a great experience with Chris: the power was out in some of our offices and industrial buildings across our entire property, keeping about 30 guys "out of work". Chris arrived within 30 minutes, did his investigation and had us back up and running within 20 mins. He even had a replacement 600 amp fuse in his truck, which shortened the time needed to fix the issue.Very responsive, very competent and very professional. Don't look anywhere else for an electrician. read more

I lost electricity in half of my house and called several electricians for help. Chris responded immediately and was out to my house within two hours. He quickly figured out the problem (it was a quick and easy fix) and then did not charge for his time!!! Unbelievable! read more

Chris is amazing! I called him late on a Friday night because my house was experiencing power surges and it blew many of my switches. He came out Saturday morning to start the investigation. I bought new switches and he agreed to come back Sunday morning. All the electricity went down that morning. He came over and had me call PG&E. Turns out that was a large part of the problem. PG&E came by and fixed their part. And Chris fixed the switches. I was impressed by his professionalism, willingness to help me when I was totally stranded. read more

We lost power in two rooms in our house. We first called electricians with more Yelp reviews but only got answering mashines and never a call back. Chris took the phone and soon came and fixed the problem. Quick, great personality and affordable. We will use CK electrical in the future and highly recommend them. read more

I have edited my previous review, because I do believe that some of the problems I had with my electric project were caused by the General Contractor. I had a detailed fixed contract with my GC, and found out that the GC had no contract at all with CK and that created a lot of opportunities for CK to claim for extras. This said, after removing the GC factor, I remain of the opinion that CK Electric was sub-par, that it required a lot of supervision on my part and that is not typical of good service providers. Installing 3 circuit breakers panels, spread all over the place when our plans had one was bad planning on his part, and while it may pass inspection, that still sucks for me that has to live in this place for the next 30 years, and now that CK is no longer on the project I have to fix this issue on my dime. Also, I expect switches to be located at the same height throughout the house, I expect that outlets along the kitchen countertop should be aligned, or that if you have a projector or a wall mount TV, you should place cable plates in such a way as to minimize the amount of visible cables. I think that if I have to run an HDMI cable inside a wall, it should run inside a conduit, so that if I need to replace the cable in 5 years I don't have to open the wall. I also happen to think that when entering a room, the first thing you see shouldn't be a power outlet smack in the middle of the wall, and that these things should be hidden as much as possible. Placing an outlet behind a washer is OK because even if it's harder to access, you only need to access it once every 10 years... All these things don't matter to county/city inspectors, but matter to home owners, or at least I would think so, particularly when you are building a new house. Some of these I caught before closing the walls, some after... the point though is that I had to catch them, and many time we had to engage in a conversation in which I had to explain why it was important and CK would roll his eyes and try to convince me that "nobody is going to see it" or "nobody cares" or (worse) "it's the code that wants it this way" (even when it wasn't the case). So my departing comment is, if you need the job done and don't care how and what it looks like, and you have a limited budget, CK may be a good option compared to other electricians that have an office, a receptionist, draw detailed contracts, have a book keeper and double check their workers' job. read more
