Months later, while still within the service interval, my vehicle began displaying low-oil warnings. On July 27, I took the BMW to another Costa Oil location in Dillsburg. During that service, Costa employees told me the underside of my vehicle was covered in oil, the crush washer was missing from the drain plug, and there were metal shavings in my oil filter. I immediately told them that this Harrisburg location had performed my previous oil change. No other shop had changed my oil or removed the drain plug between those two Costa services. Despite what was found, I was instructed to continue driving and return after approximately 1,000 miles so they could check for metal again. Before I could do that, my engine developed severe knocking and became undrivable. I filed a claim with Costa and provided bank records, photos, videos, repair shop information, and a detailed timeline. Costa denied my claim because I added oil when the first low-oil warning appeared, citing a disclaimer they say was printed on my January receipt. I do not recall ever receiving that receipt, I was not verbally told about this policy, and I never signed anything acknowledging it. After my claim was denied, I personally returned to this Harrisburg location and spoke with the store manager, Robert. According to what Robert told me, the technician who serviced my vehicle in January had caused multiple issues that day and quit that same day. Robert also told me that after the problems were discovered during my July visit, I should not have been allowed to leave and continue driving the vehicle. I gave Costa an opportunity to reconsider after providing them with this additional information, but they have maintained their denial. I am extremely disappointed. I trusted Costa Oil to properly service my vehicle and, when a problem was later discovered by their own employees, I trusted the instructions they gave me. I am now without my vehicle and dealing with significant engine damage. I have filed complaints with the appropriate consumer resources and am continuing to pursue the matter. I hope Costa ultimately chooses to stand behind its work and resolve this fairly. Based on my experience and how my claim has been handled, I cannot recommend Costa Oil.

The "problems" and lights were all fixed simply by installing a new $200 battery. That is all that was ever needed. I am so disappointed by these actions. Roy Nye was our mechanic for 20 yrs there. As we started our journey, we noticed the dashboard was indicating one of the new tires was losing air and close to flat. We crept our way to Philadelphia and ultimately were stranded in a parking lot as the tire lost all the air. My husband and father-in-law tried to replace the tire with our spare, but couldn't loosen the bolts on the tire between two strong men. We had AAA come out to help and evaluate, and they could not take the bolts off either. They determined the tire was overtightened and couldn't get the tire removed without having it towed to a car garage. Aside from that, it wasn't sealed correctly and that's why it was flat. This set of tires cost us $1000, a vacation get-away, and two good nights of sleep due to a careless job. Last time I was at Brenner Nissan, they informed me that my tires were looking pretty bald - like 2/32" or less 'bald'. That's pretty bald. They then informed me that in order to turn in my lease and not get charged an outrageous amount on new tires, that I should replace them myself. For a long while I thought, " Meh, I will just replace them right before I turn in the vehicle". Then, I came to my senses and reconsidered. Why should I buy brand new tires for someone else to drive the car around? I might as well by the damn tires now, and use them until vehicle-turn-in. Duh... So, anyway, after that seemingly obvious epiphany, I called around to a few different places with the same spiel. "I have a lease, want the cheapest, yet safest tires possible ... how much?" Firestone quoted me some outrageous price like 378.20 (for two). Then I called Good Year and spoke with the most helpful person I have ever spoke to at a mechanic. He walked me through all the options, both name brand and non-name brand. Helped me assess each one while I was on the phone with him and concurrently googling each of them, and then set me up for an appointment. This was the best car service experience I have ever had, with a friendly dude who really seemed to care about my needs as a customer. In the end, I purchased two new front tires and it only cost me $287. Exactly in the ball park I wanted to be in. There were tires that would have cost $25 bucks less, but he recommended I steer clear of those (pun intended!). The reasons he listed were similar to the reasons I found in talk threads on other websites. At the end of the experience, I feel like I was well taken care of, valued, and that they had my best interest in mind. Will definitely be back here when I need similar services in the future, and I highly recommend you check them out!
