Not tourist friendly at all.Not tourist friendly at all. Unfortunately it's right across the street from the main tourist attraction, The Polar Express Train. Our party of 11 went in and we understood they didn't have a table ready right away and we were ready to wait patiently. A nice lady got up and told her she was with a large party that was getting ready to leave and we could have their table. The man behind the bar still insisted they couldn't serve us. When we explained that a large party just told us they were leaving and we could have their table a lady behind the bar said, " Yeah but can you wait outside". My husband and I had just finished a 6 mile hike when we stopped at CJ's Grille. It was pretty much the only place open at the time and we were pretty skeptical from the get-go. The staff wasn't very friendly and the food ended up being terrible. Everything is fried on the menu and tasted like it was all fried in the same basket of grease. My husband ordered the corn dogs and asked our server is they were made in-house, and she informed him that they came out of a bag. Ugh...we should have left then. I had the wings and they were ok but soggy. The french fries tasted like the grease needed to be changed. Great food. Great people! Bartender Vickie was the absolutely BOMB! Wings are some of the best I've ever had. I would have given 5 stars but damn their shots are small. We ordered vegas bombs and all we got was a shot class full of it and there are 4 ingredients in a Vegas bomb. We buy them everywhere we go and they were itty bitty compared to any other place. Decided to stop in after talking with a local. Glad we did, mushrooms were amazing and crisp (not soggy at all). The Philly had great flavor and wife's burger was really good as well. We ate at CJ's on a Thursday about mid afternoon, when we walked in and were asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside we replied inside. The response from the employee seating us wasn't rude but still seemed like we burdened them by asking to sit inside. After that our waitress just appeared to be annoyed and bothered by us. We could clearly overhear the employees behind the bar complaining about their coworkers. The inside felt very unorganized, slightly unclean, and just not inviting. You could hear three difference styles of music playing at the same time, rap loud enough to hear from the kitchen, the front of the inside had new country music playing, the rear had old country music playing. Playing any combination of those isn't a problem, having them going all at the same time was very strange. We stopped by here for lunch while in town. We needed a place allows dogs and kids. They allow dogs on the patio and have big picnic tables for groups. It was great for an afternoon. They have Natahalla Brewing on the menu too so even though we were next door, we could still enjoy a few beers. The food is pretty basic. Nothing spectacular. Wings, grilled cheese, cheese sticks, and quesadillas. I had a grilled chicken salad and it was good. I added some hot sauce and blue cheese crumbles. Ordered some chips and salsa because I was starving, the chips were stale but this is a forgivable mistake and I'm sure could've been remedied if requested. I do think they should offer more salsa. It seemed like it was house-made, but I'm not sure, however it was tasty. Just not enough. Again, I'm sure if requested...but should just be offered in the first place. I got a grilled chicken salad which is pretty much the healthiest option you'll see. Nice spring greens, thank you, iceberg if for the birds! Two stars instead of one because everything is cheap, they were open when google said they were to be open, and our waitress was a nice lady once she finally showed up 20 minutes after we sat down. I don't know if it was her fault though, there was seemingly a fair amount of disorganization going on. All of the food is frozen/bought, I would not come here if you are looking for anything beyond food as a necessity. The chili cheese fries didn't taste like anything beyond the canned chili, of which there was far too much of to where the texture of the fries was completely lost. The corn nuggets were obviously straight from a package but they were served hot and fresh from the fryer, definitely the highlight of the meal. The Philly Cheese Steak was small and not good, feel like I definitely should have opted for a burger. Ordered drinks off of the Holiday menu and they had an ungodly amount of sugar in them to the point of being disgusting, and I don't mind sweet drinks usually. We've come to this restaurant a few times when visiting Bryson city. The last time we went it was right when they opened and the place was extremely dirty. We decided to stay because all other restaurants were swamped due to the polar express and this place was the only one empty. My boyfriend got the wings and everything seemed fine until that night. He woke up with food poisoning and knowing what the place looked like when we walked in we should've immediately left. They suggested CJ's and a customer came in and said that the tacos were great so we thought we would try it. We ordered fried cauliflower as an appetizer and it was served to us still frozen inside. I ordered a draft beer made in a local brewery, it was warm. Cold cauliflower and warm beer. Being Floridians, we love fish tacos so that's what we ordered. The fish taco was a FRIED FISH STICK. Well we thought we would like it. Not so much though. The menu has a warning that the meals will take about 20 minutes as everything is made fresh. Well...that could be a bit of an exaggeration on the freshness. Tried three different meals with 1 appetizer. So, fried pickles are pure salt in the batter and the worst pickles ever. I swear plastic would be better. We sent it back as none of us could enjoy it. We had ordered chicken tenders, a philly cheese steak and wings. The philly was alright though it was a bit soggy, you can't screw up Sysco chicken tenders so they were fine. Garlic parm wings have no flavor and lemon pepper wings had a nice lemon flavor but again so salty! And I'm a salt freak! Within a hour of eating here my stomach was cramping like mad. Lay off the salt guys! I realize your a bar and want customers to drink but dang... Our server while very nice appeared scared to death to speak to us. Oh well she was young and probably inexperienced this is not a big deal in our minds. However if your customers didn't care for something you don't ask "Do you like pickles?" My jaw hit the floor. The staff was friendly, nice, and very talkative with everyone in our party. We came in after the lunch rush at 2pm, ordered food at at 2:15, and didn't get our food until 2:48PM. Fried chicken fingers, and hot dogs shouldn't take 33 minute ticket times. It's now 3:15 and we havnt got our ticket yet or asked if we want anything else. My drink ran dry 20 minutes ago. If you're in Bryson City on a Monday, this will be one of the few places open. Even if you have other options in town open, I'd say this is one of the best. Right away the first thing you'll notice is the friendly staff. They're good for conversation and give great menu recommendations. The food is fantastic, I got their Signature Chicken Sandwich which was perfectly cooked. Juicy chicken on a fresh brioche bun. My family got their burgers which I got a bite of, and those are fantastic. Their burgers are hand formed and cooked perfectly as well. Overall the place was clean, not any trash lying around to speak of. Sitting outside is a fine choice, and will give you a nice view of town and the mountains overlooking it. You'll be right next to the train depot so if you don't like loud noises I wouldn't recommend outdoor seating, though the trains aren't making noise consistently. I would've taken a photo of my food but I ate it so fast haha! Please do come here! 100% recommended. Easy 5 stars. Parking should be easy too, pretty wide lot just to the left of the building. Occasionally you may find a little grey cat taking a nap but the building too or on the porch. He's a cute and docile little fellow and won't bother you one bit. read more

You can eat outside under a covered deck or inside. We picked inside since it appeared the outside seating was picnic tables and they're hard for me. The menu was your basic bar food of fried pickles, wings, onion rings, burger, corn & reg. dog etc served with fries. They were not very busy so I was a bit surprised at how long it took for our burgers to arrive for a party of two. It was mostly worth the wait. Had they been char-grilled they would have been more than worth the weight. The patties themselves looked to have been hand crafted and pretty darn big. I hadn't eaten all day and I couldn't finish my basket! The music they played was way cool. If we ever travel back through here I'd probably return but they really, really, REALLY need a ramp.
