Ive been to many comic book stores in my long life but not many left with many 60s and 70s comics and older action figures. Until I found this place. This comic store was packed with tons of the good stuff. Small store but every inch was filled with boxes of comics and endless walls of action figues in and out of boxes. Prices seem reasonable too. The owner was on premise and was available after greeting us. Love this place and will return for a purchase when I have more time. read more

CJ himself is knowledgeable, interesting, and serious guy. I felt like he appreciated me as a customer and talking with him reminded me why I like collecting comics. A small comic book shop located in Oakland Park that's seems tucked away amongst all the other businesses but should definitely not be overlooked. As you walk inside, you're instantly surrounded by rows of comic books, memorabilia, trading cards, and other collectibles that are only complimented further with the owner CJ offering his friendly expertise and knowledge. It's one of my favorite comic book stores in South Florida, but it's only open 3 hours per day, and sometimes the store doesn't open, so you should call before you show up to make sure someone is there. The owner used to post announcements on Facebook if he was going to be closed (to attend a comic book convention or toy show), but he hasn't posted on FB since Sept. 2023, and I don't find the store on any other social media. The store has a website, but it's not very useful. I've known the owner for decades, and he isn't the most affable guy, but he has outlasted all the competitors around him, so he must be doing something right. If you don't mind a gruff exterior, he's not hard to get along with. The best thing about his store is that he sells used books, and the only other stores I frequent that sell comic books only sell new. The store recently moved into a larger space, so it's not nearly as cramped as it used to be. read more

The store is packed and brimming with all sorts of such things and the owner is like a walking encyclopedia of such knowledge not only about all facets or sources but also as to their respective values, scarcity and availability. It was pouring down rain and my son and I decided to try and come in cause he's a huge super hero fan. The guy wouldn't open the door because we didn't have masks. I tried to explain through the glass that in Broward county Florida that's not a thing anymore while my 3 year old son and I got rained on but he refused to open the door. I've never seen anyone be so rude with a kid at the door. I called the phone number and his response is it's the only way he can protect himself and that's just not true. Good luck staying open with customer service like that. read more

Over the course of 30 years, this has always been my go to guy. Prices are more than fair. Old comics, check. New comics, check. Old toys, check. He finds the rare and gets it to you in no time. He continues to service his customers, even during the Pandemic. He makes it so easy- Set up an appointment and he'll be waiting for you in store. Masks and gloves are a must as he's doing his part to keep us all safe during the Pandemic. I can honestly say "Thank you!" because his service and prices can't be beat. Tons of comics. Tons of toys. It's small. Gives you the rummaging feel which I love. Trying to find that rare comic or toy you've been looking for before the next guy. I have a feeling if you're looking for it, they'll have it. It's a small business so overall prices tend to be higher than over places, but even their funkos were higher priced than Tate's by a few bucks. Most toys, whether loose or on card start roughly around $10 which, depending on the toy, isn't bad at all. The only let down was that no one spoke to me the entire time I was in the shop. Not a hello. Not a "need anything?". Nothing. For me personally, that awkward silence makes shopping uncomfortable so I leave- presumably without making a purchase. Don't get me wrong, I don't need you to be my new bestie, but simple pleasantries go a long way. I had an x-men shirt on when I went so it wasn't like I was just going in there for kicks. Give it another shot, maybe? Go somewhere else first, absolutely. read more

This is a prototypical comic shop in every sense of the word. It's stuffed to the gills with products and there are literally tons of comics and other products to browse and purchase. You could easily spend a whole day here looking at everything here. If you dig back-issues like I do then this is a great place for you. Key issues, wall books and everything you need to fill in those pesky holes in your collection. CJ is awesome. He's owned this business for 30 years and in that time he's amassed quite a collection and knows what he's doing and talking about. I walked in and was greeted immediately. That's what I love. Not only was the service awesome, but their selection of key back issues was incredible. I had not planned on spending as much as I did, but I was so happy with what I walked out with. I am from out of town and went looking for comics. The owner wouldn't move the display cases covering his back issues and said I'd have to to stop where I was. His prices were CRAZY high as it was difficult to find any basic comic for under $10 not in his few hard to get to stacked up dollar bins. I asked about a couple common comic runs and he said he had some but not there. Kinda hard to sell them then. He said there are many comic scalpers in Florida so I guess he overprices his comics to combat that but the place isn't worth going to unless you are willing to overpay. I very rarely exit a shop without buying something but CJ's was an exception. Hard pass! read more

CJ's Comics is the best hidden gem you will find. If you are into anything comics, figures, wrestling, pop culture related, this is the place to find it. I can't recommend any better place than this one. What's even better than the store itself, is the man who runs it. I've known John for 6+ years and he has always been everything and more you can ask for in a store owner. Friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help you hunt down what you are looking for the best way he can. He has earned my loyalty because he has always provided the best in customer service and with time he even looks out for you, once he knows what you are into. A mask is required to enter his store, which I respectfully follow. Remember some people's businesses are their second home so just be respectful, just as if you were asked to remove your shoes before walking into someone's home. I understand this because I own a business myself. The store limits the amount of people in it at one time, so just be a little patient if it's busy, but I promise it's worth the wait. There is a lot of great collectible items throughout the store and don't hesitate to ask if you are in the hunt for something specific. Don't miss out on visiting this store. Recently visited this shop, it is very small store layout is ok because of size. Was there for 15 min and not one word was ever said to me or was i ever acknowledged. Then as i look and every book is overpriced and variants super over priced. Only decent thing about the shop is there is a decent selection but left with nothing since everything was too expensive. It has been more than 4 years since I have been to this spot. I have gone to other comic stores in Broward and Dade county. CJ's had the comics that I needed where the other guys could not find. The selection is amazing. Only thing was I was not greeted as a new customer but no feelings hurt. Upon purchasing my comics the person behind the counter gave me a business card and said when I came back and bought 3 comics one would be free from their selection. The owner told me about Animal Man! Never heard of him but I'm totally into it now. He also helped me figure out which Inhumans story to read that coincides with another comic I'm reading. I found the first 3 issues of Elektra: Assassin in primo condition for an UNBELIEVABLE price! I just asked him off-hand, and he went digging in some boxes and BOOM. Good selection of back issues, too. If you're a toy/action figure person, then you definitely need to check this place out. Can't believe how rude and classless management is at this shop. You ask a question and get talked down to like a little kid. And don't even try to touch anything! Picking up a $6 comic to look at will get you yelled at and told to put back. I felt like I was walking through some spoiled kid's bedroom who doesn't want anyone to look or touch their stuff. What's the point of selling any of it then if you don't want people going near it? Not like any of it was rare or valuable. This is a great local comic book store! My boyfriend has collected comic books for years and this is his favorite place to shop. They have a HUGE selection of comic books (new & old issues) as well as toys & collectibles, both new and vintage. Items are not just limited to DC or Marvel either, I have found awesome Disney collectibles as well as other cool sci-fi or fantasy genre type collectibles too. First of all I'd like to say that I had submitted a 1 star review about this place on google and my friend submitted one on YELP which were both taken down so you know what kind of guy CJ is. My friend and I decided to come here seeing as it had 5 star reviews and very positive feedback and let's say those reviews couldn't be more wrong. It all started with CJ showing up late which was not a big deal but instead of greeting us he just points to the door and says wait here. He goes around back opens up and doesn't say a single word to either of us and walks away, not a very good first impression. Within minutes of being inside he tells me not to touch any of the action figures on the table in a very negative time of voice, which I had no interest in anyways. As we are looking around my buddy asks about a few comics which CJ says they don't have and tries to tell us they cost hundreds of dollars which couldn't be more false. We then ask him about a set of cards we wanted to look at and he tells us he'll get them. As we follow him he turns around and in the most arrogant time says "just wait here I'll bring them". He hands us a set that is wrapped in what looks like cling wrap with a $40 sticker on it claiming they have never been opened. During this time another gentlemen came in looking for merchandise and CJ looked at him and said "don't touch those". The man instantly left. The best part of this adventure was when we took a pack of spiderman comics off the shelf to look at the price and what was included. From the back we hear "what are you doing?! If you can't reach them it's like that for a reason don't touch them". Call me crazy but I'm not going to buy something tagged $70 if I'm not even allowed to hold it first. At that point we left and never looked back. Overall the owner is a jerk, talks to his customers like they are his children and sells over priced items. Half of which aren't even in origional packaging. I can only describe it as walking into a snot nose child's room who doesn't want you touching his toys. Looked like a ghetto garage sale. I wish I could give negative stars. This business couldn't get a penny from me. Not recommended to anybody! Ps hopefully he won't delete this post! read more
