John called back quickly and was available to meet the next day, gave me a quote on the spot that wasn't the lowest but right in the ballpark. He had some great ideas for the drainage and I like a contractor that gives me the solutions and not all the problems he may face with the job. He did the job about 7 days later as promised and showed up a day later to make sure I was happy with the work. We had an exterior windowsill and frame replaced. As the installation was taken place Elvin would update me and inform why he chose a certain material over another. In addition, he put insulation around the window to make it tighter. He took care and respected of our surrounding and cleaned up each day... I have worked with many contractors, and I have found Elvin very straight forward and fair. I would highly recommend Guzman Fine Carpentry for any of your carpentry needs. They are fair and honest and do high quality job. You can be assured that the job will be done correctly with no short cuts.

Their selection of granite is amazing, and their input on what might work for your project is fabulous. They gave us samples to bring home and compare, which was very helpful. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Placed $17K order for Cambria quartz countertops with…read moreGerrityStone/HomeDepot and it's been a nightmare. Day of order delivery, GerrityStone calls us to tell us that they broke our quartz countertop at their warehouse. We ask them how much longer it would take to get an unbroken countertop. General Manager Mark Capuano tells us we need to receive the two broken pieces with a seam because "contractually he can put a seam anywhere he wants." Mr. Capuano offers us a "$250 gift certificate for a nice dinner" on our $17K order. We say no. He asks us what we want? We ask for our original unbroken countertop order to be fulfilled. He tells us that'll cost an additional $3,000. He asks if we would receive the broken countertop with an additional seam. We don't want to take the broken countertop, but we'll take it if we're given $2K in compensation. He tells us this discussion is a waste of a time and hangs up on us. GerrityStone comes back and offers us $500 to receive the broken countertop. We refuse and are still waiting to hear from them. Addendum * In GerrityStone's document, it specifically states "Seam placement should be discussed during the in-home template appointment...Final seam placement is at the discretion of the professional, and seam location may be able to be moved or eliminated in particular circumstances...Additional seams may be required based on the ability to maneuver a piece into position at the installation site." We reviewed and approved the single seam placement for our L-shaped kitchen countertop. GerrityStone is not moving a seam, they're introducing another seam due to damage to the quartz countertop under their supervision at their warehouse. Doesn't GerrityStone have insurance for damage like this? GerrityStone's website says "we will only be satisfied when you are"....we are definitely not satisfied.

Hello, I have (on numerous occasions, over the years) hired KBK Woodworking, [Essex MA] for design…read moreand custom home improvements... I'm not sure why I haven't thought to share my experiences. This is my first review I have ever written. I am as fussy a homeowner that you will find, mitre joints, and finish work [before the paint], are my tell~tales. Simply stated, Bill Fraga and his workers are the most meticulious, conscious driven, full of pride group, I have ever hired. I am 55 years old, recently purchase my third home, (+/- 4900 ft. sq.) and for the past 12 months have completly redesigned our (new to us) home on the ocean. Every detail is executed with pride. The communication with Bill, my wife and myself is effortless, as he is usually answering our questions before we ask. His calm demeanor, vision, honest estimates, and easy approach is what sets him apart from all other contractors we hired in the 90's. In October 2021, Bill agreed to take on the roll of General Contractor, the reason being, beyond our carpentry needs, our ; Excavating, Permitting, Septic, Carpeting, Generator, Electrical, Plumbing, Masonry, Flashing, Gutters, Duct Work, Tiling, Painting, Waste Removal, is overlooked-by, and hired by him. What a true luxury to have the best finish carpentry, framing carpentry, AND all the additional logistics taken care of.... his group of subordinates display the same pride, and courtesy as his crew. The experience has a true family like feeling, which has made our home a show place for our entertaining, family gathering, and every day joy!!!!!! We feel so lucky to have hired KBK..... jus' my thoughts!

John's a wonderful problem solver and a pleasure to work with. The one exception that I should mention is his electrician. DO NOT work with Jack McCurdy. Every other sub was wonderful, but ask John to use a different electrician. McCurdy consistently underbid the work then hit us with huge change orders later. The worst was when he promised to wire all the cabinets for task lighting, then later claimed that he didn't know about half of the cabinets in the kitchen (when he had all the same drawings as the other subs). But that was the only negative experience in an otherwise wonderful project.
