This was our first…read moremajor construction project on our 140+ year old house, and we knew that we needed to work with a great contractor and project manager who could guide us around everything from the permitting process in our city (Newton, MA), to helping us know which specific fixtures we needed to buy, to knowing how to deal with the various construction surprises that can come up with a house with as much history as ours. Elmer at Valle Builders was a great partner: very hands on on all of the construction/build work; extremely communicative, especially around the timelines of various subcontractors and inspectors; and transparent when the inevitable change order situations came up. He has also collected a great set of subcontractor partners (including electrician, plumber, painter, tiler, and even an unexpected roofer when we realized that we needed to cut into our roofline to vent our new bathroom fan). Gave me a fair estimate, came on-time and completed the tile project without delay. Removed old…read morefloor covering and properly installed the new flooring. Picked up and removed all trash. Quality of work was excellent. Job just completed so how long the tile work lasts without a failure is unknown. I purchased the tile and grout separately from a local imported tile company not from a big box company. This was a very small tiling project. Completed a second project while the first was in process. The second project was replacement of an improperly installed walk-in shower chair. Involved opening a wall up (in a closet) to access the back side of the shower wall to install blocking for the chair and drilling new holes in the tile for the screws to attach the chair to the tiled wall. Both the interior of the shower and the wall inside the closet were carefully worked on with no problems. The chair is now installed with proper blocking behind the tiled wall. They re-installed the plastered wallboard inside the closet with minimal visibility. The workers were polite and efficient and respectful. Highly recommend this contractor. As an aside, other contractors suggested by Yelp came in at 56% higher (one contractor quoted on photos only), a second contractor quoted 488% higher (nearly $4000 more) and a second quoted at 390% higher ($3000 more). Not for nothing, I would have preferred them saying they didn't want to do the small job than trying to rip me off. They won't be hearing from me for ANY future jobs.

I had a great experience with Sir Grout. The owner, Chris, came out personally to look at and…read moreestimate the job. It included color sealing a tiled kitchen counter with extremely stained grout that could not be cleaned. Also color sealing three floors and two tiled bay windows. Everything is completely transformed. It's early days, but even the countertop has been easy to maintain despite the insults of a busy kitchen. We had one glitch. The technician applied samples of several colors to each part of the job. The one I picked for one of the floors looked very unattractive to me once it was applied to the entire floor. It wasn't Sir Grout's fault, but Chris worked with me to find a very fair solution. By the time the technician left the floor looked great. I also showed Chris a fully tiled bathroom. Aside from the floor, which we did color seal, Chris recommended skipping that room since it is in such good shape and showers can get expensive. It is refreshing to find a company that does not oversell. I think that Chris takes a very long term view of his company and values loyal customers over short term revenue. So I can highly recommend Sir Grout!
